This book is a tale of folklore or nursery rhyme intended for nursery and primary readers. In this story the egg is the son of humpty dumpty and he doesn't want to be as fragile s his father so he goes to the black hen to find out how he can protect himself from the same fate as his father. I think this story teaches kids that you need to toughen yourself up so that life doesn't get you down and break your spirit.
