I loved this story. It moved quickly, and I was excited to see what was going to happen next. I loved the premise of fallen angels trying to save the world. First, let me just say...the only reason I didn't rate with 5 stars, is the length. A novella that could have, should have, been longer. For a short book it packed a lot of punch. Something about a man with wings that just screams...HOT! Michael is so angelic…yet oh so bad. Eva's essence calls to him and who is he to deny her. I loved her character, sassy, spunky and pushover for Michael. Just a fun, unique story line that has lots of potential. I only hope that the upcoming books will be a little bit longer. I would have enjoyed spending more time with Michael and Eva.

I really enjoyed this as a start to the series. It was very much focused on Micheal and Eva but it's laying groundwork for a big battle towards the end of the series when the other unmated fallen find mates. I did get worried at the end but thankfully it turned out how I wanted it to! It took me a while to start reading it, but once I started, I fell into the story right away. This always pleases me very much. As much as I like the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, for instance, I find I have trouble getting into the stories at times, especially since they often begin with characters we don't know yet as a reader (and who we might well come to root for after all, as I've come to trust in Ward's books).

Anyway, this review is about For Love of an Angel. It takes place in a universe where the 'veil' between the human and the angel world has fallen away. Angels have taken over control right away, but without violence - in twelve years however, they are the undisputed leader of humankind. Nobody wonders how they did it, and nobody fights it. Guards are everywhere, and people protesting disappear, or so the book implies. Wages have been done away with, and careers are chosen for people, as is housing. That is why Eva, a coffee shop barista, lives in an apartment she would never have been able to afford had the angels not decided where she will live.

Eva wonders if there isn't more to life than working, going home, being pestered by an annoying ex, and go back to work again. Right at that moment, a man dressed in slacks only shows up in her living room. Hotter than hell, of course, and she feels attracted to him in an instant. But she fights the attraction as reason sets in; who is he, and what does he want?

Michael reveals himself to be a Fallen, angels who Eva has learned are a danger to humans since they want to kill them. However, Michael works hard to convince her things aren't what they seem. And he wants to take her with him as his mate, because her essence calls to him as his essence calls to her. Eva needs some time to think, obviously, but in the end the decision is made for them as the pesky ex decides to annoy some more and barge into her apartment, discovering the black-winged angel and Eva in her living room.

He raises the alarm, and Eva and Michael have to run. They go to his hiding place, where he lives with eleven others, his brethren as he calls them. Even there, he has to work hard to convince Eva she'd be a good mate for him. Not only because he likes her; angels need to have sex with other angels (of half-breeds) in order to maintain immortality.

Apart from some frustrating things that made me want to tear my hair out, it really was an okay read. As far as I know this was self-published, but I only spotted 2 or 3 mistakes in the entire story and the writing was 'clean', which was a pleasant bonus.

If you don't mind a man having a voice that rumbles a whole lot and who calls his not-yet-mate 'beloved' from the first second (and in about every sentence), and if you don't mind the awesome world behind this not being explained at all, then you're in for a relaxing read.

Of course, it's erotica, but I would have loved for the plot to be fleshed out just a tiny bit more. Perhaps in the next books, this will happen, but right now I haven't yet decided if I liked this story enough to read more. I wonder about things, though. It's only been twelve years since the veil fell. Michael lost his mate, someone he loved deeply, apparently. Yet within no-time, in terms of immortality, he's falling for someone else. And if there are Guards everywhere and so many things are decided for the humans, why are the angels then not aware of every detail in someone's life?

I know I sound negative, but all in all, this really was an okay book. The plot truly appealed to me, and the author did a good job catching a whole new universe without spending the first 100 pages of the book on it (Kushiel's Dart, anyone?). The writing is clean and yes, I read it all in one go, which says enough, in my view. Not the best out there, but certainly worth a shot.(less)

I am really glad I did give this series a shot now, because I loved this story! There is a threat looming in the distance in this world, but there is not really a major battle or anything like that through the course of the plot. I did not miss that aspect of the book at all though. Rosalie really took the time to let Michael and Eva’s bond grow and I appreciated that. Sometimes with novellas, the characters just rush into the romance without taking time to breathe and that often bothers me. Not in this story, they do have an instant connection, but time is taken to explore their bond and this helped me connect with each of them.

I also like the idea of the Fallen helping humans fight against the other angels. In this world, the angels control life on earth and we are basically their slaves. The worst part is, most humans don’t even seem to care or notice that they are prisoners in their own world. Angels feel that they are superior to humans and because of this we should fall at their feet and do their bidding. Luckily, the Fallen do not feel this way and this is why the other angels have cast them out. A war is looming and battles have already been fought, but the human race is just starting to catch on and will hopefully triumph.

We do get to see some of the other Fallen, but because this is a novella we do not get to know them very well. I know there are more books to come in this series and I am really excited to explore them. Rosalie manages to pack a lot into such a short story and I loved every second of it. I am looking forward to learning more about these angels in the future.

This was actually a pretty good story. Michael and Eva were hotter than Carolina asphalt in August. The underlying story is very interesting as well. Imagine a world run by angels stranded on earth because of a fallen veil. There is no mention of God so these angels may or maynot be of the Biblical type. My guess is 'not'. The world has been a changed place for about 12 years now. The veil between the angel realm and our realm has fallen and angels have moved into earth. They have changed many things including giving everyone a specific job, a specific place to live, doing away with salaries and bills and claiming that the point of all of this is to make the world a more peaceful place. The only problem is the angels actually have a horrible ulterior motive!

Eva is a coffee barista, she got the unlucky end of the job draw but can deal with it since she was a little more blessed when it came to the place she gets to live. She was 13 with the veil fell and since then has tried to get use to the way things are done now with the angels running everything. They even have an inforced curfew and their own type of police with the Consortium. When she finds a sexy stranger standing in her living room one rainy night her life completely changes.

Michael is one sexy angel! Longer dark hair, topaz eyes, sexy black wings…just rawr ladies! He is a fallen angel (hence the black wings) and mankind has been brainwashed to believe that the fallen angels are terrible beings hell-bent on destroying humans. The only thing is, the “good” angels are the ones out to use and destroy humans…the fallen angels were cast out because they thought humans should be treated better. Michael also claims to be attracted to Eva’s essence, and we find out that it’s because she’s a half angel.

These two were a lot of fun to read about. Michael is very determined to make Eva his mate for life and Eva isn’t sure she is ready to make that kind of commitment with a seemingly complete stranger. The love scenes between these two are very steamy and I think fit well. I liked that Eva tried to think clearly when it came to Michael even though their bodies were so attuned with each other. Of course, it’s a novella so some of the parts seemed to move a little faster than they would have in a novel but I still feel like everything fit well. The relationship development between Michael and Eva and being introduced to the other fallen angels. I also enjoyed how Ms. Lario is setting up the next books of the series with the overall plot of the angels and how the fallen will have to try to stop them.

I’m excited about this series since it seems that each Fallen angel will receive their own book besides maybe four of them. We have two mated pairings in this book…they seem to have some tension problems so they sleep separately but I think those could make some interesting reads. Either rediscovering each other and why they mated in the first place or maybe the realization that they need to move on and find another to mate with. (BTW, mating is a VERY big deal to these angels…it’s for a lot more than just the pleasure of it.)

Overall: I really, really enjoyed this book and I look forward to reading book 2 which is available now. If you like a good paranormal novella that has some sex, a steamy man and an easy to follow story line I’d highly suggest this novella. I think the entire series is going to be novellas which is a fun thought since you’ll be able to keep up with the series without spending days reading them.(less)

Angels and fallen angels have become popular recently, but this book was a lot different than any other angel story I have ever read. Eventually, we discover that the angels are plotting to destroy human kind after they use the humans to do things like build their towers. We also discover that angels need to have sex with other full or half angels in order to keep their immortality.

Eva, the main female character, is stuck working in a coffee shop. She has a nice apartment, but has to live next door to her annoying ex boyfriend. She wishes for something more and that's exactly what she gets. Enter fallen angel Michael. He's beyond gorgeous and has a pair of stunning black wings. He comes to Eva in the middle of the night calling her his beloved.

I really liked both of the characters. They had chemistry, and their relationship didn't seem rushed even though For Love of an Angel is a novella.There are a few sexy scenes and several swoon worthy ones. Their is also humor peppered throughout the story, which I really enjoyed. The ending is sweet and sets up perfectly for the next book.

It's a very original story that I enjoyed a lot. The only thing is that I wish it would have been longer. I'll be waiting for the second in the series, Angel's Desire to come out and might even pick up her book Blood of the Demon because it sounds really good.

If you like angels/fallen angels and are looking for something different and steamy, you should definitely check this one out!
This novella does have a few sex scenes, so I would recommend it for 18+!(less)

When angels took over the world a lot of things changed drastically and even though the angels are rarely actually seen, the world worships them. Now they answer to the Consortium and there are rules in place that never existed before. Eva was only thirteen when the veil fell, but she remembers life before the angels and wonders if everything is truly as it seems. Sometimes Eva feels like she was meant for something more. Or at least wishes she had the opportunity.

Then she meets Michael. Michael shows her that, indeed, things really aren't as they seem and tells her things that could mean a death sentence if she believes him.

Whoever thought that men with wings on their back couldn't be considered sexy, needs to read this story. Because, seriously, Michael could best be described with one word: “yuuuuummmmy”. Yep, I think that pretty much covers it all. “Wow” might actually work too. Or maybe “drool”. And I loved Eva. She is a sassy, spirited little thing and her internal thoughts are so realistic and hilarious.

The book is very well written and the pace is realistic. One thing that drives me crazy with novellas and shorts sometimes is when the pace goes at warp speed and nothing seems like it could realistically happen at that pace. Ms. Lario manages to convey a sense of time passing, without taking up too much space to do it, and keeps the story moving forward while still making it all believable. And the sexual tension between Eva and Michael is smoldering.

The background given for the angels is very interesting and I can't wait to learn more and see how it all plays out in future sequels. There is black and white (literally) and shades of gray. It's a very interesting take on good versus evil and reality versus pre-conceptions. Despite the fact that this is about angels, there isn't really much (if any) religion in the story so don't let that put you off, if that's something that would sway you one way or the other.

If you enjoy paranormal romance, this is not one that you want to miss. You won't regret it and at $.99 you can't go wrong. It is a quick, entertaining read that will leave you looking forward to the sequels.

Angels aren’t really God’s servants, in For Love of an Angel. No, instead they come from a different dimension. When the veil fell and angels found themselves stuck on Earth, for good, they decided to play up to the fact that humans worshiped them and do what any invasive species does - take over the planet. First, by turning humans into slave laborers and mindless drones fed by pro-angelic propaganda. Second, by methodically exterminating said humans until the planet is all their own. However there are some angels that want to co-exist peacefully with humans – who believe in preserving a species instead of wiping it out. They are known as The Fallen – and they fight a losing battle. Eva is a human, working as a barista, when she meets Michael, who is one of the Fallen. While he is devastatingly sexy, Eva knows that’s not enough to form a connection. But Michael knows Eva’s secrets, and soon reveals how Eva’s very life is in danger. The two must make a daring escape and Eva knows she will be on the run from the angels (the evil, not-fallen ones) for the rest of her life. Can she forgive Michael for risking her safety to meet her, and acknowledge their love? Or will she turn her back on him and leave for a life below-the-radar - and alone?

I love Rosalie’s writing. There were sentences in this novella that literally gave me the chills – that made my eyes light up, made me bounce in my seat in excitement and a shiver crawl up my back. Stealthily eerie and ominous, sentences like “Angels were not known for their compassion” were short and to the point. Sentences like that – that get their message across in so few words – are the mark of a truly great writer. And Rosalie is a fabulous writer. She has good voice and focus, and her writing is exciting. It builds inside you, each sentence upon wonderful sentence of prose and dialogue. I really enjoyed this book. I was entertained by most every page. The book didn’t let up – it was consistent, through and through, in it’s riveting qualities. Let’s sum up this paragraph by saying that, quite simply, there is absolutely nothing lacking in Rosalie’s writing style.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get the character development or plot development I needed. While the story moved at a great pace, there was way too much sex and not enough relationship/bonding thrown in. The sexual tension between Michael and Eva could literally be compared to a blazing bonfire, but I wanted to see the more emotional connection underlying the lust. Whether that connection was under-developed because Rosalie chose not to write about it or because there simply weren’t enough pages in the book and something had to get cut out, I was surprised by the lack of bonding. As far as plot went, many of the scenes occurred a bit too quickly for my taste – leaving a few things lackluster in description or in believability.

However the book was suspenseful, and very unique. As with Rosalie’s other series Blood of the Infernum (which I strongly recommend), in For Love of an Angel beings like angels are not from heaven as in human lore, but are instead akin to aliens (that's as apt a description I can give you). I really enjoy the intriguing twist this brings to the story-line (you can read more about that twist here, in Rosalie’s own words when she did a guest post on my blog!) because the book is definitely more interesting than the average angel-infused paranormal. I loved the creativity and imagery in this book – and Michael is mouth-watering both in his dialogue and his physique. I must admit that at first, his pet name for Eva – ‘beloved’ – kinda freaked me out, but as the story progressed I found I liked it. It fit him, and their situation. All in all, this was a good novella – interesting, well-written, and unique. I would highly recommend For Love of an Angel by Rosalie Lario for a quick, fun-filled afternoon of reading.

What humans don't realize is that their time on earth is a limited thing if the angels get their way. There are a group of twelve angels called the "Fallen" who have taken it upon themselves to try to save humankind, but that means that they are being hunted. For angels to maintain their strength though, they need to mate with others who carry human blood. Within the twelve warriors that make up the Fallen, there are only two female angels so the Fallen are in search of nephilim, human/angel half-breeds, to mate with so that they can maintain their species.

This book is about Eva & Michael. Eva is a barista who is feeling dissatisfied with her life. She has an annoying neighbor whom she used to date. She feels like there should be more to her life, but isn't what sure what that would be. Then one night, she leaves her window open and in comes Michael who was "drawn by her essence." Unbeknownst to Eva, her father was an angel so she is a nephilim.

This first book had a lot of really fabulous elements to it that make me really excited for this new series. I really loved this romance between Michael & Eva. There is definitely a chemical reaction between the two of them, but I love that their feelings are allowed to develop before they really react to that. I loved the Fallen and their reactions to Eva...they all feel the draw of her nephilim blood before she is mated to Michael. Their home in the cave was amazing. It makes an amazingly gorgeous backdrop for this series. The visuals that I had in my head for it were just beautiful. I love how Rosalie described it! The short introductions to the Fallen that we got in this first story have made me really excited to see where the series goes from here. I am assuming that all twelve of the Fallen will get their stories and I cannot wait!!

Despite that, I haven't read many novels that feature angels as the paranormal aspect in the book so I really wasn't sure what to expect with this one. Let me begin by saying this: quite simply – I adored this book! I'm so happy that it is a series because I cannot wait for the next one.

When angels took over the world a lot of things changed drastically and even though the angels are rarely actually seen, the world worships them. Now they answer to the Consortium and there are rules in place that never existed before. Eva was only thirteen when the veil fell, but she remembers life before the angels and wonders if everything is truly as it seems. Sometimes Eva feels like she was meant for something more. Or at least wishes she had the opportunity.

Then she meets Michael. Michael shows her that, indeed, things really aren't as they seem and tells her things that could mean a death sentence if she believes him.

Whoever thought that men with wings on their back couldn't be considered sexy, needs to read this story. Because, seriously, Michael could best be described with one word: “yuuuuummmmy”. Yep, I think that pretty much covers it all. “Wow” might actually work too. Or maybe “drool”. And I loved Eva. She is a sassy, spirited little thing and her internal thoughts are so realistic and hilarious.

The book is very well written and the pace is realistic. One thing that drives me crazy with novellas and shorts sometimes is when the pace goes at warp speed and nothing seems like it could realistically happen at that pace. Ms. Lario manages to convey a sense of time passing, without taking up too much space to do it, and keeps the story moving forward while still making it all believable. And the sexual tension between Eva and Michael is smoldering.

The background given for the angels is very interesting and I can't wait to learn more and see how it all plays out in future sequels. There is black and white (literally) and shades of gray. It's a very interesting take on good versus evil and reality versus pre-conceptions. Despite the fact that this is about angels, there isn't really much (if any) religion in the story so don't let that put you off, if that's something that would sway you one way or the other.

If you enjoy paranormal romance, this is not one that you want to miss. You won't regret it and at $.99 you can't go wrong. It is a quick, entertaining read that will leave you looking forward to the sequels.

IT was an okay book. I just felt like everything was a little rushed. Everything happened a little too fast. It seemed like Eva and Michael met and fell in love in about three days ( which is pretty fast) I think that the author could have taken more time for character development ( especially for Michael). This was just an okay read. An introduction to a long series, twelve books if all them fallen angels got their own story.

This story didn't overwhelm me nor did it bore me. Not much depth in anything, in fact. I would probably forget about all about it tonight.

Three stars, because Michael was shirtless the entire time the story was told.

it's a good start for a series, but I still couldn't pinpoint what's lacking, but the is something that just not give me the click..

Maybe this book just give some pre story for the next ones.

One thing for sure, Michael is HOT and so angelic, despite his black wings, which I thought sexy, he is such a soft person toward his mate Eva.

I definitely enjoyed this short novella....but I wish there had been more of it! I felt there was room for more without being too much...either about each character or the "war". Maybe the next in the series will be a bit more in depth.

Micheal... is just hot, sweet and affectionate but still a "man". The sex? *phew* HOT. Usually I'm not too keen on instant attraction and love but it didn't feel rushed here. With the world and characters Ms. Lario built, it just made sense.
