The term “novel” means exactly that; something original, something new. And, each novel should be exactly that.

Precisely what Julia Madeleine’s novel, NO ONE TO HEAR YOU SCREAM is. An original work.

For starters, it takes us inside the mind of a brutal criminal. Madeleine isn’t the first novelist to do so, but unlike many who attempt to convey criminals to their readers, hers rings true. As a former criminal myself, I’m perhaps more sensitive to how writers portray outlaws, and to be honest, most...more

Here's an author that I will definitely be returning to! Great story, interesting characters and enough violence to keep me happy.

Madeleine takes you on a trip to a beautiful house in the remote countryside - the most beautiful spot imaginable and in this amazing setting she creates the home to die for (hehe...there's a pun there folks). If you love browsing through House and Home magazine then you'll pretty much have seen the type of house she creates. What more could anyone ask for? Oh yeah......more

Justine Jameson has her share of problems. She's a teenage single mother of an infant baby, recently moved back in with her father and stepmother after the failure of her relationship with the baby's father. Her parents' relationship is hanging by a thread, as is her father's business.

And that's not the worst of it. Justine hears things; voices in her head warning her of a horrible fate awaiting her child, warning her she is incapable of caring for a baby, making her fear for her very sanity.

In every dream home a heartache.

Seventeen year old Justine is a single parent who is going through major post-natal depression and is, it seems, as batty as a cave full of Guano. She lives with her father, whose business is going down the Swanee, and his wife, who has a dark secret and whose daughter only recently died.

So, the dysfunctional family move out into the countryside, for a fresh start in an idyllic country house, which they happen to get remarkably cheap.

And, of course, if something s...more

A mind blowing engaging thriller keeping you on the edge, page after page.

No One To Hear You SCREAM is a thriller that will leave you breathless, yet longing for another chapter. The story does not take long to unravel, from the start you can feel Rory Madden, a hot kick ass British, and one of the main characters, has deep dark secrets and will let no one stand in his way of what he wants. What it turns out he does want is a mix of revenge and satisfaction for losing his picturesque lakefront h...more

Amazing characterization, twisting plots and constant action will keep readers riveted to the pages of No One to Hear You Scream!

No One to Hear You Scream is a story of blackened innocent. Questions, doubts, revenge and lies. The "gray people" totally sent shivers down my spine as goose flesh prickled, the passion sent tingles and the murders ripped my heart into tatters. I have to honestly say that Julia Madeleine wove a perfect story to send my emotions on a roller coaster ride with no breaks....more

I am a big fan of thrillers and enjoy discovering new authors, self-published or not. No One to Hear You Scream was an enjoyable read. The story tells of a family's move from the city to the country into what should be their dream home. Unfortunately, the former owner is determined to get it back - at any cost. He wheedles his way into the life of the seventeen-year old single mother, Justine, who has had psychiatric issues and still suffers from paranoia and distrust. As in every good plot, it...more

This was unnerving. First point of note: Madden is no one-dimensional monster. As dreadful as he is and his actions are, he still has a core of humanity. I found the story highly believable and enjoyed seeing Brett and Pam's secrets come to light. I also thought Justine and her battles with psychic demons highly convincing. Brava, Julia Madeleine!

I also want to note that this book was the key introduction vast number of other authors who have been entertaining me. I noticed a link to Heath Lowr...more

I was fortunate enough to pick up a copy of Julia’s novel, and I was really impressed. In an interview she admits that the basic premise was based on reality: she and her husband bought a country house in foreclosure only to be vandalized by the former owner, still angry at losing his house.

In her own words: “When it started to escalate we called the police to report the vandalism and they were the ones who told us they believed it was the former owner. Apparently he was well known to the police...more

“If you don’t want to play ball that’s your choice. But you’re not going to like what’s coming next, buddy.” – Rory Madden

What’s coming next in author Julia Madeleine’s No One To Hear You Scream is a world of manipulation, suspense, and terror, all of it orchestrated by Rory Madden. Originally from Belfast, Ireland, Rory has made a life for himself in upstate New York in a beautiful house set on twenty acres of secluded land.

Of course the fact he financed it all by selling drugs comes back to bi...more

So far I've been pretty lucky with first-reads. This is only my second book I've received from it, but I have loved both. I wouldn't have discovered this without first-reads, so I'm glad I received a copy.
I was quickly sucked into the story, although it took a while to build up intensity it still kept me captivated. I had mixed feelings towards the antagonist, whom at times I liked and sympathized towards, but then at other times I hated him and would be happy when he was dead and gone.
At time...more

I did not like No One to Hear You Scream by Julia Madeleine because it was way to hard to follow. The book jumps around from one character to the other each chapter and it also doesn't make much sense. I would not recommend this book if you are looking for an easy read and need something short. This book takes lots of thought and time to understand what's happening. If you are looking for a challenging book I would pick this book. But yet to me it is not a very good book.

Justine is boring.
Rory is boring.
Pamela is boring.
Whatever the dad's name is... he's boring too.

I can't get into the writing style. I can't get into the plot no matter how far I read. If I'm this bored now and keep getting bored as I go, I've absolutely no interest in continuing.

No One To Hear You Scream is great. It kept me wanting more. I had a hard time putting it down. The characters, with their flaws, were great. The story was awesome. A well written novel. This book takes you through a course of so many emotions. Highly recommended.

This one gets a 4 because it is more than 3.5 but not quite a 4. Interesting characters and character development. I wanted to not like some of them but could only really pull that off with Rory. The others seemed to be caught up in unresolved issues of past circumstances.

A book that's hard to put down. Right from page one to the last page you are pulled into murder and mystery. A book you NEED to read "just one more page" before going to bed. Awesome reading, well written. Highly recommend.

This is actually a very good book since I've read the last thriller book and review it on the blog. The author really got me hooked with all the suspense and twists. The book is more like a psycho-thriller book that would make you wonder and keep guessing what is going to happen and who's the culprit. The mysteries of the past also mysterious to the readers. The plot is well organized and so detail but not too dragged to make you lost interest. The storyline of dysfunctional family, with every m...more

It was an good, fast paced read but I'm still trying to figure out how the title fits the story.

This one just wasn't for me. I was annoyed by Justine, not empathetic to her. She seemed to me like she was just whining the whole time.
There are too many books on my list to stay bogged down in one I'm not enjoying.
Sorry.
