Wonderful! Another great book by Theresa Ragan. This author really knows how to weave an intricate tale with a wonderful group of characters that all add to the storyline. The focus here is on Max and Kari, but the additional characters add so many layers to this well written, nicely developed book. Ms. Ragan has the uncanny ability to give us more than a one-dimensional plot. She adds bonus romances to the main one of a lost love and the possibility of renewal between Max and Kari. There is an...more
Let me start off with saying that the author has a clear and easy language. She doesn't fall into any of the weird grammar-pits so many self-published authors do. Taming Mad Max would have been much more joyful to read had the author not fallen into the cheesy plot-pits.
One of the pits this author did fall into, is so-called brand-naming. That will out-date your book very quickly. You don't namedrop contemporary artists, songs, brands or any of the like. In a few years some readers might go "who...more

A cute contemporary sports romance, it even had an interesting secondary romance. The author has a nice writing voice for this genre and I would read more, but this one lacked a bit on the story. I'm not a fan of secret baby romances, especially when the secret tends to linger far too long. It wrapped up with a good ending, so I'd recommend it if you like light contemp romances and don't mind the 'secret baby' plot device.
I am almost kind of ashamed I subjected my brain to the torture of reading this book.
This book has no depth what so ever. It's like the book equivalent to some low rate rom-com where the two main characters have absolutely nothing in common, but for some reason, fall in lurrvv. Then they continue to do stupid things to mess up the relationship and swear to never speak to each other again, only to realize they are madly in love and get married and have a billion kids. The End. This was nothing m...more

I received this book in exchange for a review. I really did enjoy the book, it vaguely reminded me of Susan Elizabeth Phillips' writing, so if you enjoy books that involve sports, humor, and family drama this is the book for you.
It all starts out when Max (a football player) thinks he's cursed, the doctors think he's cursed, and the NFL seems to think he's cursed and will die young so they pair him up with Kari, a popular celebrity nutritionist. Kari has a teenaged daughter, Molly, who is presen...more

Really enjoyable contemporary romance with a sports-theme that doesn’t get much better than this one! Theresa Ragan isn't far from hitting my “favorites” list.
A delightfully entertaining story with the typical gorgeous, rich, unable-to-commit pro football star. When Max Dutton meets Kari Murphy, the nutritionist assigned by the team owners to help him avert a family “curse,” sexual sparks immediately ignite. However, when Kari sees Max and comes face-to-face with a blast-from-the-past, those sp...more

Well.. I liked this story because of Molly & Lindsay. I would rate it 3.5***
I definitively did not expect her to take matters into her own hands. that was quite refreshing.
I can totally understand Kari. if she tried to contact the guy and he dissappeared and did not attempt to contact her in ages.. why should she care about him?..
I do believe that fate is treacherous... and life goes in circles.. you never know how or when you will find individuals from your past coming back to your present...more

I ran across Taming Mad Max while trolling Amazon. I’ve found a lot of great, inexpensive reads lately and by authors I‘ve never read or heard of before. I guess it’s a little easier to shell out .99 or $2.99 for a book and if it bombs well then no great loss or expense. But when I keep finding books that are excellent - then it’s a win win for me. I love it.

Stumbled upon this by chance on Amazon and what a great find it is. Taming Mad Max is a contemporary love story about Max and Kari who meet again 14 years after spending one night together. Max doesn't remember her but Kari has never forgotten the boy she she fell in love with as a girl, or that he never responded to the letters she left him about being pregnant. Now Max is a pro football player in need of a nutritionist and Kari cant hide the fact she still is attracted to him or that Molly loo...more

Taming Mad Max by Theresa Ragan was on my recommended list for a while, but I kept putting it off for some reason. I finally caved in and bought it, and I am glad that I did.

“As you already know, I was born in June. I’m kind of a tomboy and I’m not the most popular girl in school. But I can curl my tongue and I’m a leftie. My favorite ice cream is mint chip. Most of my friends have started their menstrual cycle, but not me.”
“I think I’m a late bloomer like my mom and you might be glad to know I made the basketball team."

When I found Taming Mad Max I wasn't sure what to expect. I usually read science fiction stories but the premise peaked my interest. It was surprising more interesting than some of the romantic comedies I have watched even if it was just as predictable.
I purchase and read books that there description speak to me and this one did. Theresa Ragan writing is and easily put me into a visual mode. It is something that all my favorite writers have in common. When I finally got to the end I was pleasant...more

This book was okay. Nothing spectacular, with a ton of issues, but it did have some good points.
There were way too many typical romance downfalls. The secret baby, where the whole conflict was the secret. The characters falling in love WAY too quickly. Seriously, the big bad football player who can't commit suddenly head over heels for no reason after a day? I didn't buy his emotions at all. I do think a majority of the issues I had would have been fixed by a copy editor, had the book not been...more

I came across this book while I was investigating The Romance Review site looking for a way to advertise my book. I wasn't drawn to the title or the cover, but as I looked as ranks, trying to decide if I should purchase an ad, the blurb seemed interesting to me. I have always loved a great "secret baby" story, so I got the free sample and was so curious about what was going to happen, I had to buy the rest. I have to say that I loved this book. The characters were lovable and realistic. I normal...more
Cute story and one that follows the saying don't judge a book by its cover. The characters in Taming Mad Max were lovable and easy to relate to. I found myself smiling, laughing and feeling their emotions which poured from the pages. My only negative about this book was I wanted more. Don't get me wrong the book wrapped up nicely and left the reader knowing how everyone's life had evolved. However It just felt that everything leading up to the plot was so detailed then boom over, wrap it up. Ok...more
This is of Ragan's books that tackles a more serious storyline, in my opinion (or an issue that's likely to actually happen). I like the way there's a good balance of light romance and actual relationship-building not-fun stuff. The secondary romance between Kari's friend Lindsey and Max's friend Cole is actually hotter than the main story which provides a nice balance.
It's another solid book from Ragan that I liked a lot - they never really reach rave-worthy levels with me, but they're nice cut...more

What would you do if after 13 years you've discovered you had a daughter that you didn’t know about? How would you react? Would you blame someone for this? And to top it all: what if you were a NFL player and had believed you had only 7 more years to live your life?
This is the premise of Taming Mad Max. Max Dutton is the linebacker for the Condors and thinks he has a curse and is going to die at the tender age of 40! He’s the best guy out there to have as a big brother (he had four, ye...more

I laughed. I cried. Two or three times in fact. Yup, this was a great contemporary romance novel. Oddly, I actually like the Cole/Lindsay side-story better than the Max/Kari main story, and that's what really pulled me through in a few points.

I loved why TR decided to become a romance novelist. I think she put every last romance cliche in this book. Maybe because it's all so unrealistic I have a love hate feeling about this book. It was sort of fun to read and sort of annoying. I can't decide. I think I'm unwilling to hate this book for the sheer fact the author is so sincere and I totally appreciate her love for romances!
I wish I had the option to give 3.5 stars.
This was a nice story with some great moments. It was a bit long though and, eventually, the forces keeping the main couple apart felt forced and contrived.
Starting out strong with fun leads and fantastic supporting characters, by the end of the book things had devolved from cherished tropes to tired cliches.
Overall a nice, uncomplicated story.

Quick and easy. I thought it was a good story, but I didn't feel a strong loving connection between the characters until the end. Some of the interactions and situations felt a little over played or forced. It did have a wonderful epilogue that included lots of babies, and there was an abundance of hot athletes throughout the story...always a bonus.
Ive been wanting to read this book for a while and I finally did and I was happy with the story. Fate brought the two main characters back together and ended working together to get max the ok to play football. In the story there are secrets that come out that change the lives of the characters. Great book really loved reading it. I recommend reading it

Probably one of the best contemporary romances I have read in a very long time! I read this after reading Ms. Ragan's new release "Having My Baby" which mentions Max, so I searched and purchased this book and it was sooooooo worth it. Hope there is more to come with the LA Condor's team in the future!

I was pregnant with my fourth and last child when I read my very first romance novel, A Knight in Shining Armor by Jude Deveraux. I knew instantly that I wanted to write romance novels as a career. Being taken away to another world for a few hours was just what I needed. I took five years to write my first medieval time travel, Return of the Rose. I have written more than a dozen novels since then...more
