REview can also be found at my blog Much Loved Books

When first got a copy of this I thought it would just be about the usual vampires, I am glad to say I was wrong. Not only are there 2 types of vampires, but also witches.

Reading Immortal Beloved I sometimes forgot it was about vampires, as its not in your face, and it let me concentrate on the budding friendships between the characters, both friendly and romantically.

I loved the family dynamics of the characters, they may not be related to eac...more

The book was very good. I couldn't put it down even though it seemed a bit... staged. The plot was very good, with the villains defined and you could practically see trouble coming. The characters were so-so believable and the only one that seemed truly alive was Alex and Caspian, other than that it felt a bit forced or, like I said before, staged.
I found myself rolling my eyes in almost every page at the cheesy lines thrown in between Sophia and Nate. And the first thought that came to my mind...more

I was very surprised by how much I actually enjoyed this book. It was good, but I do have a few complaints. The italicized thoughts were a little annoying. Some things were a little repetitious especially when it came to Sophia's inner thoughts. Sophia's emotions and thoughts could be condensed and shown more than told. A little bit of the dialogue seemed awkward and staged. The book is somewhat similar to Twilight, but it is hard to break out of that shell with a vampire book.

The book is good, but there was a few disadvantages. The language of the book seem to be lacking. Blackwell's writing can be a bit irritating and it seems as though she may have rushed up writing the book and it did seem the dialogue was not legit. Blackwell's style of writing was like the other book i read by Lanzarotta, i think if the writing was more clear, conversational and emotional, the book would of been really amazing.

The things is love about this book is the first person. I'm a fan of...more

Immortal Embrace is a delightful read! Charlotte Blackwell spins a terrific story, building intrigue in layers that keeps you turning the pages for more. In the past I have been turned off of most vampire novels, but Charlotte has completely won me over, and I am now seeking out other vampire stories.

Sophia Pierce is a young woman who was turned, or embraced, and has learned to live as a vampire through those who have become her family. She meets a young man, and the story takes off in a wonderf...more

yeahh , i don't know if i am going to continue this.. i still have like 30 pages, but it is soo boring, so so boring, i don't like it, the romance is stupid, i like a well built romance, this is like total dumbness love, from the first sight, unfortunately i don't believe in love from first sight, i believe in likeness and attraction first but not love, it is what comes after that makes someone fall for the other.

And stupid characters.. except maybe Alexander :P pretty boy

"Immortal Embrace" by Charlotte Blackwell is a great effort by a new author that combines Vampires, witchcraft, suspense and romance - all for young adults. Sophia is a Vampire moving to a new school with her family after her brother accidentally killed his girlfriend by greedily drinking her blood. With some magic they are able to live amongst the mortals in the daylight and lead seemingly normal lives.
A teenager and condemned to an eternal life rather than blessed with it Sophia falls for Nat...more

I was contacted by the author of this book and asked if I would read it in exchange for an honest review. I read the blurb and an extract on her website and decided it looked good and so accepted.
Sophia Pierce is a Vampire, she never wanted this life but has learnt to deal with the consequences, her adopted family live by rules and refuse to feed off of mortals, they control their cravings and live on donated blood or animal blood. They try to blend into society and come across as a normal lovi...more

This is a really fantastic young adult love story by Charlotte Blackwell. I had heard previously about her writing thanks to my good friend, author Kathi Barton. One of my goodreads book clubs read it for October, and I ate it up immediately. I read this in less than 24 hours, it was just really good. I enjoyed the nods to other famous vampire stories of my generation--such as mentioning that sparkling is only for vampires in the movies.

Sophia is a vampire who moves to Wenham, Massachusetts wit...more

Her scream rips through the entire house, as the family runs to the horrific source, the wailing cuts right through to my very core.

And so, with a scream, it begins: Charlotte Blackwell’s masterpiece of adverbial sodomy. In these pages paper thin characters Instantly, Suddenly, quietly, Reluctantly, softly explore the boring side of teen romance and…vampirism? Magic?

To quote Charlotte: “How do I explain it to her without letting the cat out of the bag?”

Sadly, the cat is already out of the bag....more

I won this from the First Reads giveaway.

First of all, I must mention that the writing of this is quite stuffy, which is distracting. There's almost no use of contractions; it's always "I am," "It is," "We will," and "cannot." There is the occasional "it's," but rarely. Even the conversations between teens are contraction-less, which is unrealistic. Although, the conversations tended to seem unrealistic anyway, especially those between Sophia and Nate: major cheese factor, and I don't mean Havar...more

This book is about Sophia, an eternal teenager that is forced to go back to high-school to keep an eye on her youngest sister, Danika. The reason? Danika is the newest addition in her family, a vampire family. This means that if she struggles to behave herself in high-school at least she won't be alone.

The only problem is that since her older brother, Caspian, killed his girlfriend in a terrible accident and then ran away ashamed of what he did, Sophia prefers to keep her distance with humans an...more

Immortal Embrace is a story about a girl name Sophia Pierce who was tragically turned into a vampire. When she was embraced by her new vampire family, she found hope and the support she needed to move on. Living a very long life can be a bit boring for a teenager, especially when you don’t have many friends. But soon enough, she bumps into a mortal, Nathanial, who utterly takes her breath away. Her thoughts are consumed by him and she wonders why she is drawn to him besides the fact that he smel...more

When I first read the synopsis I was couldn't wait to read it. But when I got it the cover looked very cheap, with the writing being very blurry.

I found it very difficult to read due to its style of writing. It was very uncomfortable. It lacked emotion and it wasn't very conversational when the characters were interacting, it wasn't believable. A lot of the same things were being repeated on numerous occasions for example, Sophia ranting that she cant be near Nate.... I cant be near him, I'm a m...more

LOVED this book!!!

It is a different take on the teen vampire romance. I love how the female is the vampire and the human is the male. I was rooting for Sophia and Nate right from the start and am so excited to see where their story goes from here. I can't wait to see what happens when they are faced with danger from the bad vampires.

Not only are the main charachters very compelling, but so are the rest of the people in the story. I am so interested to hear more of their stories. I also enjoyed...more

This book seemed familiar, even if the roles of vampire and human were reversed, to another book I read a while ago. Similar, as well, to that other story, was the obsessive love and almost droning whine of the main characters’ narrative. Unlike that other story, this one did not draw you in with beautiful and almost lyrical prose, instead offering up choppy storytelling as well as confusing head-hopping. This reader found this story hard to follow and didn’t leave feeling attached enough to the...more

"Where magick meets eternity."

Immortal Embrace is the story of love, loss and finding yourself. It is not a book that focuses on vampires.

Charlotte Blackwell pulls you into the world of vampires and witches, giving you insight into all angles of their lives. She applies the stresses and complications of their existence to a typical girl meets boy scenario.

There is a really strong connection between the characters, and they each bring a new perspective to the story.

If you can look past a few mi...more

Oke first of all, I love the cover. So I'm kind of in struggle with myself what to say or what to think about this book. The book is about vampires, although you tend to forget that throughout the book. I hated the writing style, you were told everything and shown nothing. I'm not really sure how to explain. It was kind of like a big diary instead of a story. I was frustrated with the writing style the moment I began. It lakced emotion and it wasn't really conversational. The story was okay, but...more

I really liked this book, even if it did seem very similar in parts to twilight. The characters are likeable and you get to know them very well. Sophia has to be my favourite and by the end of the story I felt I knew her so well that I should have been going round to her place for coffee.

Some of the love scenes were a bit too soppy for my liking and did seem a little staged. The characters also seemed to fall in love a little too quickly, and I wished Charlotte had maybe lengthened the...more

Urg, couldn't finish. Imagination a hot summer day, someone gives you a cup of soda with ice. You are really to refreshed and cool down from the brazing heat, you put it your lips to taste that the soda is flat. This is how I felt when I started reading this book. The characters act like robots reporting, instead of having real emotion. The way the characters talked to each other felt fake and off. The book fails to capture my attention for more than a second. It just don't cut it for me. The di...more

I was chosen as a teen test reader prior to publication and... wow! I read this book in 6 hours and I just couldn't put it down! This book made the characters come to life and it felt as if I was watching a movie of it in my head and honestly I liked it better then twilight!

I recommend this book to young adults, teens, adults and really just anyone who like vampire romance and it even throws in a little bit of witches for you. SO, if your like me and like the shows charmed, vampire diaries, ect...more

Sophia, the vampire girl, and her family, all vampires, relocated to a small town to live among humans. Sophia and her siblings started going to school and on her first day, she bumped into the hottest guy named Nathanial; who has never shown interest in girls before because he just focus on his studies and football. She doesn’t understand why she is drawn to him, other than him smelling so delicious to her.

Oh...I made it to chapter 5. I tried, but really I wanted to give up at chapter 1. So, see? I did give it a chance.
I just can't stand the writing. It's boring. Nothing made me want to turn the page to continue.
The dialogue between characters is awkward and choppy. It is also far too formal. A great example of the over bearing formality is when Sophia bumps into Nathaniel. Who talks like that? Especially in high school?
The improper use of words really irritated me.
