Let me say up front that Beg for Mercy (the first book in this series) was one of the most outstanding RS books I've read this year. While Hide from Evil was quite good and certainly held my interest, it suffered in comparison to its predecessor. But Jami Alden set the bar waaay high with Beg for Mercy with the plot, the suspense, and the characters, so maybe it's a little unfair to expect lightning to strike twice?

Caution: Possible spoilers ahead...

This was Sean Flynn's story. Sean has finally More...

After reading "Beg for Mercy" there was absolutely no way I was going to miss this one or the next one, FEAR NO EVIL by Jami Alden. After starting the series out on such a high note, I was afraid that HIDE FROM EVIL couldn't or wouldn't live up to the hype. But I shouldn't have had any doubts. Jami Alden has another winner. Sean is a haunted, traumatized man who has suffered quite enough. I loved his character and the man he stands for. The coupling of him and Krista, the woman who is partly res More...

I've been waiting for this book ever since I finished Beg for Mercy and this one picks up the from the events that happened in the previous book.

Krista Slater feels guilty, guilty for putting an innocent man on death row and questions what she did wrong and despite her boss Mark and everyone telling her that everything is over, she cannot stop digging, trying to find if everything ended with Nate (the rapist/murderer) who framed Sean or went deeper. When she tracks down Jimmy ( a friend who serv More...

This is a great romantic suspense book and sequel to Beg For Mercy. I strongly recommend reading Beg For Mercy first because the characters here play a big role in the first one and the story lines are heavily intertwined. I had a lot of anticipation for this book after being so pleased with Beg For Mercy, and, thankfully, it delivered. It's very steamy with a high quotient of romance, but the suspense is still hot and heavy. For me, who often finds not enough sex or romance in my suspense, this More...

This was a very exciting and fast paced book that had me hooked right from the start. This is book 2 in the series and I really enjoyed this story line. Loved all the characters too and Jami brought a bit more heat with this story than she did Beg For Mercy and if you know me that is always' a plus.
We get a nice HEA at the end and believe me these two deserved it.

Krista Slater was the prosecuting attorney who put Sean Flynn on death row for a crime he didn’t commit. Krista didn’t know that at the time, but that doesn’t change how Sean feels about her now that he’s free. The only thing Krista and Sean have in common is their undeniable attraction to each other. Krista’s desire to find the real killers takes her to Sean’s door. But danger follows her, and soon Sean and Krista are running for their lives. Can they find the killers before the killers find th More...

Krista Slater is drowning in guilt over putting Sean Flynn into prison for a crime he didn't commit. She is starting to question her judgement as well as whether his case should be closed. She suspects something more, something bigger is going on and when an informant unexpectedly "kills himself" on the night he is to meet her with top secret information, she's confident there is more to this case than meets the eye. So off she goes to find Sean Flynn. Krista is the last person Sean ever expects More...

So glad I discovered this series when at least 2 were already out...now, if I had just waited until March when book 3 comes out! Oh, well, something to look forward to (and believe me, Jack Brooks is definitely someone worth waiting for!!!)

We pick up just a few months after Beg for Mercy left off. Sean Flynn has been exonerated, released from prison, even received some compensation from the state for his wrongful conviction, but he is still not a free man. He was already messed up from his time More...

Hide from Evil is the second book in an untitled trilogy by Jami Alden, the first book of which skyrocketed its way towards my favorites book shelf earlier this year. If you are tempted to pick this one up, not that you can’t read this as a standalone, but in my opinion you definitely need to read book 1 first to experience the full impact of the story as it unfolds and for you to be invested in the characters and the outcome of their happily ever after as much as I have been ever since finding More...

I liked how this was a continuation of the storyline from the previous book in the trilogy (Beg for Mercy). This one was Sean's story and I was really excited to read how it played out. I was also happy that Cole reappeared in the second installment. But again, not all of the questions are answered, which leads us to believe there may be one more book coming which is excellent because I am really hooked on this story.

Having said that, this book was pretty good on it's own, but being part of a tr More...

Krista Slater believes strongly in right and wrong. Her job as a prosecuting attorney allows her the opportunity to see that bad guys receive their just punishment. Krista also knows that when the system fails it must be corrected at all costs. She worked hard to have Sean Flynn exonerated and released from prison when it was determined that he hadn't committed any murders and was in fact set up. Now she realizes that there is much more going on than a string of murders. Krista and Sean must wor More...

Hide from Evil was the second novel in the Trilogy series by Jami Alden. This novel was just as good, if not better than, the first novel in this series, Beg for Mercy.

In Beg for Mercy, Megan Flynn fell in love with Detective Cole Williams, the officer who wrongfully arrested her brother Sean for rape and murder. In Hide from Evil, Sean Flynn is adjusting to life outside of prison and he finds himself falling head over heels for De More...

Sean Flynn is now free and trying to put the past few years behind. Krista Slater - Sean's Prosecutor - feels guilty and angry that she had the wrong man and almost had him put to death. She tries to put things right by continuing the investigation on her own dime. Her one hope is Sean's help but he does not want to get involved - and neither do some other people.

When Krista attempts to gain Sean's help they are dragged into a fight for their life. They don't know who they can trust and More...

I am absolutely loving this series. Hide from Evil is the 2nd book in the series and I can't wait for the 3rd and final installment! These books are THAT good. I read this in one sitting... couldn't put it down. Stayed up almost all night just to finish it.

The plot is one where the reader knows what is going on (for the most part), but the characters are still trying to figure it out. I kept waiting and waiting for them to figure out who the bad guy was and it didn't happen until v More...

The first and second halves of this book felt a bit like two separate entities. I'll divide my thoughts accordingly:

The first half moved slowly, with the two main characters in hormonal overdrive. They spent endless pages dancing around their physical attraction, then more endless pages giving in to that attraction. This read much more like romance/erotica than any form of suspense. I could - and did - skip ahead twenty or so pages without missing anything.

The action picked up in the second hal More...

***Though the publisher provides the free book, I offer the opinion. ***

My Look:

What happens when the convicting prosecutor and the former death-row inmate that she put away get together? Murder.

At the time, Krista Slater was sure she put away the right man, Sean Flynn, for the rapes and brutal murders of those women; today, she knows that he almost died for crimes he never committed. However, this case is not over, yet. When her shock wears off but the guilt remains, she does not believe Nate B More...

An Intense Thrill Ride
It was the worst moment of her professional career, finding out that the man she'd successfully convicted of murder and helped sentence to death was, in fact, completely innocent. There was nothing Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Krista Slater could ever do to make up for the hell that Sean Flynn lived through, a hell that included three years on death row. Driven to hyper-vigilance by the grievous error, Krista has been looking deeper into the background of the killer responsi More...

3 out of 5 stars on Ordinary People, Extraordinary Works

Jami Alden returns to characters first introduced in BEG FOR MERCY in HIDE FROM EVIL, the second of three (planned) novels. Once again free, Sean Flynn just wants to live simply and easily and believes that can be achieved by living in a family cabin nestled in the woods. Unfortunately, not everyone wants him to stay hidden, Krista Slater among them. Still feeling guilty over Sean’s wrongful prison sentence, she wants nothing more than to s More...

Jami Alden does it again! She throws readers back into her exciting and suspenseful world.

Sean Flynn just wants to move on with his life. He sat in a jail cell for two years for a crime he didn’t commit. Now that he is a free man, he doesn’t want to be bother with anyone so he is hiding out in a cabin. His peace is interrupted when the one woman he hates shows up on his doorsteps.

Krista Slater regrets putting Sean behind bars. At the time all the evidence pointed to Sean but after his sister (B More...

This book was good but not as good as JA's other books. I don't know if I've just never noticed it before but there were too many over-the-top, visceral reactions for me. At least 75% of the book in should have the main conflicts coming from outside of the couple but they couldn't get on the same page. There was that constant worry that it could never work between them because she'd sent him to prison and then there were his doubts about his mental stability through the last chapter.

But at times More...

The first two books of this series have made Jami Alden a must read for me. I loved both of them. They both have a great mixture of suspense and romance. While I thought Beg for Mercy was wonderful, I liked Hide from Evil even more.

After being introduced to Sean Flynn in the first book, I was glad to read his story. He made a very sympathetic hero, a wounded soul who remained caring and protective regardless of being through the trauma of believing his execution for a murder he did not commit w More...

I loved this book! I enjoyed it better than the first in the series and that is not the norm for me, so I was super surprised and happy. I must admit going in I wondered just how in the world would that make these two characters work together.

Jami did not disappoint. I loved the story, characters and everything in between! I can't wait to read Talia's story in the next book.

Sean Flynn is trying to come to terms with having spent three years of his life in prison on death row for a crime he didn't commit. His sister, Megan, was largely responsible for literally sparing his life by helping to find the real killer. She's still guilt-ridden over what happened to him but is also convinced that the real killer didn't act alone and is determi More...

Although I didn't think Hide From Evil was as good as its predecessor, Beg For Mercy, I thought it was a solid follow up. Beg For Mercy was gritty, filled with edge-of-your-seat suspense, and kept you guessing up until the end. Hide From Evil was much different because there was not really any mystery as far as who was behind everything. While I think this installment lacked some of the magic both in romance and suspense that Beg For Mercy captivated me with, I still think Jami Alden did a good More...

Hide from Evil, Jami Alden’s second novel in the series called Trilogy, picks up five months from the end of Beg for Mercy. This story focuses squarely on Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Krista Slater and Sean Flynn.

Hmmm, this was a pretty good book... but not as good as "Beg for Mercy". There wasn't the same kind of hair-raising tension and gripping suspense that was present in BfM. Instead, this story unfolds at a slower pace as we learn just how deep the cover up actually extends.

This book picks up the story shortly after BfM leaves off; Sean Flynn, who was serving a death sentence, for rape and murder, has now been exonerated. Understandably, he's having a hard time adjusting to freedom after 3 years an More...

This book is really the conclusion to previous book "BEG for MERCY" and am I glad I waited to read both books back to back.
