(Note: This book is part of a series. Book #1 Return the Heart. Book #2 Shield the Heart.) What if the battle was in your heart? I'm glad to say that I enjoyed this book more than its prequel - Return the Heart. The flow of this book is certainly much better than the first book, in which some phrases seem unnatural and lack of a certain flourish.

This book mainly focuses on the teens in Russia, thwarting yet another evil scheme. But once again, the author did not give us the pleasure/torture (any way you may see it) to find out the perpetrator's identity. Lily, being a heart reader, has it figured out in a matter of second...more

I liked the way Lilly kicked butt in book one (this is book two). While this book also had plenty of action, it was more of an 'inner' action book. As in a lot of the action was focused within Lilly. I enjoyed the Russian setting.

Lilly must choose between her loyalty to the USA and her her heart which has always been in Russia. (As well as some romantic love issues.) This is a tough thing for Lilly and it tears her apart. Quite a bit of this book deals with her inner turmoil and lack of true con...more

I really enjoyed Lilly in this book, she has a lot of self-discovery and it is enlightening to see how others think about her, and how she thinks her mistakes should be held against her in such a large scale, where those who love her have already forgiven and moved on.
Her internal battles are the major plot mover in this book, and it is not boring at all, just a bit different. There is still action but that is not the biggest thing for me. Some shocking things happen, things that made me very...more

This is the second in the series. I fell for the characters in the first book Return the Heart and have continued my love affair with them through the second book as well. In this story Lilly and her friends spend almost all of the book in Russia. Lilly discovers secrets about her heritage and the prophecy that sets so many questions in motion.

More action, more romance and an ancient prophecy lie within the pages of Shield the Heart. This book was wonderful and I can't wait to read the final bo...more

I write young adult novels with bits of history and brush strokes of romance. I also write poems and short stories, but novels are my passion.

My literary influences are Tolstoy, Gogol, and Dostoevsky. Though my writing style could never be compared to theirs, it is their work that is my inspiration.

I strive to skillfully capture the interest and attention of the reader by creating a story that is...more
