Absolutely devastating. This book has to have some of the most moving writing I've read. The messianic figure, the discussion of love as a force in the Universe, but also the force of love between two people. This book actually makes me a little incoherent because I became so emotionally involved with the characters and with their work to create a fairer more loving Universe.

It was inevitable. Hyperion was just too damn good not to bite the bullet and read the last installment and get full closure on what everything means. So, at the end of it all, was it all worth it?
Well, all questions are answered, but no, not really. This was just way too much reading and time invested.
But, I do wish I could erase all memories of the first Hyperion novel and read it over again. It really was spectacular.

The closing volume of the Hyperion series had a huge emotional impact on me. By now, I cared about the new characters, and the fates that they meet at the end of the series are serious, and sometimes difficult to read. Simmons also brings his ideas to full fruition, and posits some interesting observations about humanity and our place in the Universe. This is thoughtful, adventurous fiction. I will return to it for the rest of my life.

"Stellar" science fiction, for my opinion. Brilliant plot and end, and pushed me to think outside the tiny box that is my head. Left me with a wistful feeling of wanting to explore his universe further. I often think back to this series and how it unfolded perfectly, to the last page of the last book. (sigh)

This book concludes, in my opinion, one of the best Science Fiction series ever written. The universe Simmons creates is full of detail and surprises around every turn. I read it once several years ago and then decide to reread the whole series recently. Again, I finished this book in record time.

This is the best book in the series since Hyperion. The only complaints that I have are that the narrator gets a bit slicey-slicey emo. The ending has a hint of deus ex machina, although it doesn't come off as being particularly lazy.

Almost done with this book, but I'm getting sidetracked by other books right now. It's pretty good so far, but I'm not getting as hooked with it the same way I enjoyed the previous books in this series.

a really good story of good vs evil and the frailty/strenght of the human race...suspenseful and thought provoking...3-D characters, well thought out and mutlifaceted "world"...fantastic read!

One star down from the others due to an utterly boring mid-section that my beloved called "The Zen Section". Obviously, Zen is not for me.
Otherwise as brilliant as the others

Simmons has a weakness for overexplaining things, and this five hundred pager is no exception. Still worthwhile for its intriguing plot and full cast of alien beasties.

Here are four more books the PSU Departmental Cashier recommended to me. Everyone please buy more Ooligan Press books so that I can talk sci-fi with him again soon!

This book ended the Hyperion sequence on a high note. I don't feel like it was the weirdest at all. In fact, I think these last two were the best of the bunch.

I can't for the life of me remember when I read something so deeply moving and profound...I'm going to be up for a lot of long nights thinking about this one

The fourth of four. If you read this you will know what it is like to achieve glory. You won't achieve it yourself but Simmons sure did. Hot damn. Trust me.

Maybe it should be a four, but it a a rather dissapointing book. Fall of Hyperion was so good and the next two never lived up to that quality.

Maybe I'm a sucker and just like well-tied up endings, but this was my favorite of the three.
