I received this book to review for the ReadIt&Reap program in the ShutUp&Read group. Thanks to the mods and the author for providing this book for us to read.

Every time I start a new book/series that involves vampires I worry that I'm about to waste time reading the same story I've read so many times before. I love vampire stories, but they need to bring something fresh to the table, and be somewhat original for me to actually enjoy them. This book did that.

The first few pages of this b

Amaranth (The Resistance Trilogy #1)

Camille has finally taken a step toward breaking away from her abusive relationship and dysfunctional family. A trip to Paris, where she has always longed to go, research for a book she longs to write (but has not even told her best about), and a "special" coat she spent way too much on, but it makes her feel happy and in control. It's here in Paris that she has a chance encounter with Gavin Devereaux. He somehow can tell she's searching for something

I purchased this book but didn't get a chance to read it until I received the second book for review and decided it was time to get my butt in gear and read this one first. (Holy run on sentence, Batman!) Let me tell you, putting it off was a HUGE mistake on my part.

I absolutely adore Camille and Gavin's story. The way they meet is the perfect love story type meeting and from there it just gets better. We are left in just the right amount of suspense about what will happen next and trust me, yo

Can this book be as wonderful and enchanting as its beautiful cover? Why yes, it most certainly can! :)

We follow Camille as she tries to escape an abusive past and make a new life for herself in Louisiana, but she has no idea what she’s in for when she meets the handsome and charming Gavin. Not only does he look familiar but he has an other-worldly aura about him. As Camille gets to know Gavin and his best friend Gabe, she is introduced to a world she never thought existed.

When I decide how much I liked or loved reading a book I pay the most attention to the ending. The ending of Amaranth is an exception because, even though it ends with the slip of a big revelation in a casual conversation, it caused me to jump up and down whining that it ended too soon.

Rachael Wade wrote an incredible story filled with amazing, realistic characters. Camille was vulnerable from her past and trying to make a new life for herself - she did but not neccessarily in the way she wanted

“I’m completely crazy about you, Camille.” He moved in closer, his eyes assessed my reaction. “―I know there are details you didn’t want to mention before ... things about the guy you left back in Seattle, and your mom. But I want you to know whatever it is you’re still running from, you don‘t have to run from it anymore. You can talk to me. And I would never, ever, hurt you.”

Klişe dediğimiz türden bir vampir kitabı. Ama ben başlarda beğensem de sonlarda sıkıldım.. Bölük pörçüktü olaylar. Saçma geldi.. Gavin bir plan yapıyor. Sonra ne yaptığı belli değil.. Camille'nın ne yaptığı belli değil.. Hızlı hızlı saçma bişiler oldu ama ben bişi anlamadım. Yani Amarant şehrinin amacı bile saçma... Pehhh olmamış :P

Warning: This book is Vampireistic!

My Cover Thoughts: I love the cover! There is a girl walking towards the bayou and it looks like she is searching for something. Will she find it?

My Thoughts/Review: Amaranth left me speechless! I loved this story from the minute I read it. It is a story about love and finding your inner self. Cam is running away from relationship after relationship when she decides she is going to Paris for a vacation. While the

Camille has pretty bad taste in men. She fled her Seattle home for a Paris vacation, in order to escape an abusive boyfriend. And she followed him up with another winner once she moved to Louisiana. She is trying to turn her life around and break ties with Jerk #2 when Gavin shows up. He is a charming guy she met during that trip to Paris and she feels an undeniable attraction to him that seems to be mutual.

But there is much more to Gavin than meets the eye. He's actually a vampire, though it ta

Cover-speak : I absolutely loved this cover .. It has most of my favourites colors on it and also has this sparkly night-ish feel to it and once you are done reading the story you'll realise the significance of this bayou and why the girl is standing there .

Initial Thoughts on Cover;

Initial Thoughts on Summary;

This book was far from "just another vampire book." Camille is the mail character and tends to get into bad relationships...she dreams of finding that one perfect relationship. When Gavin steps into her life, she just might have a chance. Her last relationship was horrible, filled with abuse. She is still recovering...and he is still after her. She wants to believe Gavin could be her special someone, but Gavin has a shadowy past.

The story does contain that girl meets vampire and they have the p

I will be honest, I was pretty skeptical at first. I haven’t had much luck lately with Indie authored books. But, when I found out that Rachael was giving away copies of the book in e-book form to bloggers, I couldn’t resist the indulgence. Wow is my first and continued reaction. I literally could not put this book down, it is so intense, so endearing, so inspiring of empathy. What the protagonist Camille endures-and her exquisite talent at self-analysis-is riveting. Absolutely impossible to break away from this book. Without need for a spoiler, I can express this: Camille has a major crack in the foundation of her psyche. For whatever reasons, her inner strength and her intuition don’t seem to match up. Wh

I received this as a part of the Read It & Reap program.

Overall this was a good read. The author did a great job in building a new world that kept me very interested. The story line was not predictable. I would find myself reading think “X” was going to happen, but then “Y” and “Z” would be the twist the author took. I liked being kept off balance.

I did have some questions with this story. (view spoiler)

This book was simply amazing. One of my favorites I have read this year. Not only was it a great vampire novel, but it also showed that women can overcome domestic violence. I loved how Camille was strong enough to back out of not only one abusive relationship, but two. Camille was without a doubt my favorite character. She was a bad ass in the way she always stood up for herself and never showed any fear, even when facing Samira, the evil ruler of Amaranth. I wish that the author would have giv ...more

This little gem took me by surprise on two counts. One because it was very good and the other, because I read it based purely on the cover. In fact, I never even read the short synopsis posted so I had no idea what it was about and the title gave me absolutely no clue, since the word amaranth is a plant often cultivated for food and cereal in Central and South America. (I admit, I had to look that one up to be sure, I knew it had something to do with plants). The name, Amaranth, and the cover in ...more

First of all, let me say the cover is beautiful. It was what drew me to the book in the first instance.
I am a big lover of purple and blue, as many of you know already. I love the fact that the red dress provides a stark contrast to the ethereal feeling background. Honestly, big love to the cover artist, Robin Ludwig Design Inc!

I was being nosey on Twitter (as some of you now know I am a lot) and I came across Rachael. This was a few months ago now and I was intrigued by the look of AMARANTH. I

How could I not love this story. What a great new take on vampires! I was a little lost at first, but didn't take long for me to get what was going on. The story begins with our heroine, Camille, roaming the streets of Paris when she first meets our hero, Gavin. Let me tell you right now, I fell in love with Gavin FAST. The book then fast forwards two years later. We find Camille in Louisiana trying to get out of yet another toxic relationship with an arse named Andrew. However, th

Again another amazing cover. The cover art is always an eyecatcher for me. This book took me on a rollercoaster ride from beginning to end. I loved Camille she has the makings of a good heroine. I loved that she has no problems realizing a bad situation and moving on from it. Its refreshing to have heroines that stand up for themselves and aren't so codependent. I loved this book! Its your classic paranormal romance.
Camille is 21 and went off to Paris to escape, if only for a while, her abusive relationship with her now ex-boyfriend. While there she walks, literally, into Gavin. And he is gorgeous! I love a good vampire story and Amaranth didn’t disappoint. It gave a fresh new twist on a time old tale of love, death, and ever after. I was captured by the grace of the opening chapters in Paris where we find our young heroine reinventing herself, falling for the beauty of Paris and of a handsome gentleman who stumbles across her literally in the café.

Her return to the states was a bit disjointed for me. The character development was good and I enjoyed the lovely description Louisiana, howev

I really and truly loved this book! It was so different from what I usually read in the fantasy genre.

I liked the main character Camille Hart. She was insecure and vulnerable through most of the book which wasn’t a bad thing. The main reason being that Camille was a victim in an abusive relationship with her boyfriend Andrew; she is trying to find herself through all the chaos. I also enjoyed the Side characters a little more to tell the truth especially Camille’s best friend Audrey. She is what

3.5 out of 4 stars

I enjoyed this book. If I say that with a slight note of surprise, it's because that, indeed, I was pleasantly surprised.

It's a story of vampire meets girl and they both fall in love, and they both face challenges to be together. With so much out there with the same type of plot, it is really difficult not to make comparisons.

This book was shorter that I thought it would be.
