There are no specific spoilers in this review, but I assume you've read the first two books (or don't mind and read this anyway) but I don't know exactly how much vague information you want to about this book before you've read it. So I warned you, keep that in mind.

Please hold me. I feel like somebody came in, grabbed me and swept me off my feet, made me feel warm on the inside while he whispered everything I wanted to hear into my ear and so much more, and then suddenly I'm being dropped on my...more

I liked this book but I don't find them as interesting as I did the first time I read them. This is my second time - reading the whole series again to get ready for the last book. I did have some thoughts below from the first time and I still feel the same...

Read if you have already read the book - this is just my thoughts on this book, after the fact. :)

(view spoiler)[I read a few reviews talking about "how Nash did something horrible to Kaylee that might ruin their relationship". So I was just...more

It was brought to my attention recently that each of these books in the series represent one of the seven Deadly Sins. Obviously, this book is about Greed. Everyone gets hooked in Demon’s Breath, the epic and highly dangerous drug of the Netherworld, and once again it is up to Kaylee to save a whole bunch of people that don’t give a damn about her. She also struggles with the fact that her boyfriend is a douche. I am Nash, I want sex, I want drugs, blah blah blah, me me me.

I have to admit that t...more

When the first two books of this series originally came out I read them right away, though for some weird reason, I never got around to reading this book until a few days ago, but I had read many reviews of it and basically knew the majority of the plot line. I think that had I not known what was going to occur in this book before reading it, I wouldn't have picked up on all of the un-Nash-like behaviour to the extent that I did and had I not known what was going to occ...more

Ok so after reading this book I am completely in love with Tod his character becomes much more human in it. I cried through the last chapter but it did leave me a bit confused. I will not post spoilers for the people who haven't read it yet. All I can say is WOW and I can't wait for the next book :)

Wow, what a ride My Soul to Keep was. After reading My Soul to Save I was a little bit disappointed that is wasn't as good book one but Rachel Vincent is definitely back.

In this instalment we see Kaylee go through a whole new challenge. When her friends at school get a hold of the deadly Demon's Breath, they soon start becoming addicts and of course Kaylee takes it upon herself to try and sort out the problem. With the help of Nash and Tod, Kaylee battles through the Neverworld yet again but whe...more

My Soul to Keep deals with the issue of drug abuse, but if you're worried it will be a preachy Very Special Episode type of story, worry no more. Rachel Vincent raises the book above that level -- both by allowing the damage to strike very close to home for Kaylee and by placing the issue in an enthralling plot -- so that it never feels like a simplistic "drugs are bad, mmmkay" fable.

In My Soul to Save, Vincent introduced readers to Demon's Breath, a sought-after intoxicant among the denizens of...more

I think this was the most disappointing book so far in the series. Tod is rapidly becoming my favorite character but there was so little of him in this book. Once he came back into play, I wanted to keep reading simply because he was involved. Nash's character really disturbed me because in this book compared to the others he had a completely different personality. To me it was almost like she was writing about another character entirely just with Nash's body. I realize that was her intention bu...more

My Soul to Keep is the third book in the Soul Screamers series featuring Kaylee Cavanaugh and picks up shortly after the end of My Soul to Keep. For those who have followed this series, you are aware that when Kaylee screams, someone dies. She also has the ability to cross over to the Netherworld almost on a whim. She is what's called a bean Sidhe or banshee.

In this episode, Demon’s Breath plays a significant part in the story. In fact, it plays such a...more

Rip my heart out, why don’t you Rachel???

Why? Why in God’s name did I decide to reread this? It’s been almost a year since I’ve first read this and so far I haven’t managed to get over it. Whenever I saw this book somewhere I was reminded of how much I was hurting while reading it and how it left me depressed for days after I had finished it. I don’t know why I felt the need to stick my finger into this particularly nasty old wound. And rub salt in it. And pour alcohol all over it. And then set...more

Am I the only one thinking Tod acts like he cares about Addy and Kaylee, but not about his own brother? He didn't even flinch when he found out that Nash is on drugs and that Avari kidnapped him. He's scared for what Avari is doing to Addy, but he doesn't care what the hellion does to Nash.
What kind of a big brother takes his brother to Netherworld and doesn't asks him what he wants to do there?
Tod is so creepy. He's always there when Nash and Kaylee are making out, but never around when, for...more

First Thoughts: 4.5 stars After reading the first chapters I was like: Soooo, this is like a new episode with the same basic cast….I kind of wish it built upon the same story and was more complex, but then again I love this whole world so I kept on reading.
But as I kept reading I was like: So this is not just another episode and it really is about Avari being greedy. He is intent on getting revenge on Kaylee because she interfered with saving...more

Well if you're a fan of this series, you won't be disappointed by this book. This time, we have fighting the bad guys, romance and some betrayal thrown in for color. I couldn't put it down.

The characters just continue to grow up, literally. And they view things as high-schoolers would. Their behavior is appropriate for their age, which is to say that sometimes they're really mature and sometimes they're really childish.

And why they can't ask parents who love and protect them for help! It is mad...more

Kaylee's Banshee, or Bean Sidhe ability caused her to scream whenever she sensed death. only Nash, her boyfriend was able to understand and calm her under these extreme circumstances. Nash was a male Bean Sidhe, had not the ability to hold a soul like Kaylee's scream could do, but was able to direct a soul back to its original body. their love shifted onto shaky ground when Kaylee discovered that Nash was addicted to Demon Breath, the addictive breath of Avari, the hellion of greed, from the Net...more

There are very few authors that can make later books in a series as exciting as the first, and even less who can make the books better. Rachel Vincent is one of those authors. When I first read this book, I was surprised by the supernatural take on drugs - in my experience, it's not something that many authors incorporate in their stories. Even my third time through, I had a hard time putting this book down.

Kaylee and Nash's relationship is really put to the test in this book. Sure, they've had...more

What has happened to all the good, honest, chivalrous men in this world? Nash took my wonderful view of him, stomped on it, doused it in gasoline and set it on fire in My Soul to Keep. What he did in this book.... wow, I have no words for you, Nash Hudson. Kaylee is one strong girl and she made the right decision.

This book was exhausting, and there were few light and happy moments like we saw in the first 2 books. In the previous books, even when things were going to hell in a handbasket for Ka...more

Well, this book was full of surprises, which is good, giving that if you know what is going to happen, a book becomes boring and it's not worth reading anymore.
Like I said before, I didn't quite know what to think about Nash. He seemed to be a player with some hidden agenda and I wasn't enjoying what I saw. --'
But in My Soul To Keep he is a huge asshole! --'

So out of the 3 Soul screamers I've read so far ( & the novella) this one is probebly my least favorite.

I just hate Nash. I really do. T E A M T O D over here .

Nash is just annoying- not really a jerk (until you finish reading My soul to keep , THEN you realize he's a jerk), but just annoying. I never trusted the kid, & this proves that true.

Ugh.

So in my soul to keep , Demon breath is loose in the mortal world & kids are getting high off o...more

I'm still enjoying this series, but this book unfortunately included one of my pet peeves in plotting. I really despise conflict that's created by people simply NOT TELLING EACH OTHER THINGS. Why for the love all that's holy won't Kaylee just explain to (view spoiler)[Emma (hide spoiler)] what's going on? We get some very weak justifications for this sprinkled throughout the novel, but personally I find them all to be completely B.S. I think the real reason (view spoiler)[Emma (hide spoiler)] is...more

Reading this book is a lot like walking into a housefire. It hurts and you can see and feel everything crashing and burning around you. But you must keep going. Why? Because you need to save the cat that's in the kitchen. (My metaphor for finishing the book). You want to turn around and get out many times, practically from the moment you entered the burning building, but you can hear the cat mewling and you need to try and save it.

"Damn it, Tod!" is offically my favourite line ever. Whenever it...more

Demon breath. No, not the toothpaste-challenged kind. The Netherworld kind. The kind that really can kill you. Somehow the super-addictive substance has made its way to the human world. But how? Kaylee and Nash have to cut off the source and protect their friends—one of whom is already hooked.

And so is some...more

Odd that I start this series with number three, but I didn't know that when I picked it up. It was surprisingly easy to fall into the story and read the characters, even if I was a little confused at times due to references to previous books.

The writing flows well, and the world created is interesting and unique. Thankfully, Nash isn't perfect, which adds a whole new dimension to this story and takes away the usual Perfect hunk found in so many YA series out there.

I'd like to read the previous...more

MICHELLE'S REVIEW:

RATING : 5 NAUGHTY NASH STARS!!

Now this book was an awesome instalment in the Soul Screamers series.

Wow! Kaylee is having a lot emotionally thrown at her in this book.

Nash!! I can’t believe you did that! and you let that! happen and you didn’t stop that! from happening...you need a big slap from me as you were a bad, bad, boyfriend!

Man, oh Man! Rachel really had her fingers spewing forth a great story line in My Soul To Keep. Now I am getting why this series is so popular. I a...more

Okay this book: just awesome.

LJAFLJ:ALKSJfl I can't think right now. I have to read the next book NOW! But I can't because I have homework. DARN YOU! But seriously!? This book made my eyes pop out and my jaw drop. Seriously, I wanted to question Vincent's sanity for plotlines. She just loves to mess with my head, doesn't she? The beginning chapters was slow and frustrating, but after the "big revelation" in the second half, everything got so much better! And I loved that this book dealt with dr...more

I've enjoyed this series from the beginning, even though I'm typically not a big fan of teen paranormal romance novels a la Twilight. Rachel Vincent's Soul Screamers series has always managed to give me a compelling, enjoyable ride with great characters and a fun story. I wouldn't say that it's amazing literature, but it's a simple, easy read that's worth getting into.

Young Kaylee is just getting used to life as a banshee -even the whole screaming when people die part. She's also been juggling f...more

Wow! I didn't know that the series would just keep getting better and better. I was surprised by the supernatural take on addiction to drugs. Who would have thought to use Demon's Breath as a drug to get high?

In the third book in the series, Kaylee and Nash discover that someone is selling Demon's Breath to teens at their school as a new drug called Frost. What the teens don't know is that Demon's Breath is not only addicting, but it is also fatal and brain damaging. If you take too much you can...more
