I thought Sarah Alderson's Hunting Lila was a really fun book, so I knew I had to read this as soon as I saw who wrote it. Fated has the same feel, but still quite a bit different from Hunting Lila. We now the story of Evie, who just found out she's a demon hunter; and Lucas, who's sent undercover to get close enough to kill her.
I have to say that the world Alderson describes is really interesting. Filled with all sorts of species, from Scorpio demons to Vampires. I enjoyed learning a More...

I wanted to love this book, I really did.
You know how I liked ‘Hunting Lila’ and you might know that I like a lot Alderson's style – so don’t get me wrong, the characters are enjoyable and there is a lot of humor in this story, but for some reason it was just not enough.
At the beginning I thought this story would be perfect for me.
I liked Evie (what a nice name!). She was smart, sassy and she didn't let anyone walk all over her.
She was scared at first, f More...

I wish that they hadn't put the Fated excerpt in the back of Hunting Lila because then I wouldn't be FREAKING HOOKED! I want this book a lot. A lot! And after reading Hunting Lila as well, this author is a-ma-zing! Truly.
No doubt Fated will be in my hands the second it hits the shelves. :D

The first novel I've read of Sarah Alderson was Hunting Lila and I enjoyed it so much. I was really amazed on how she wrote the story and she instantly became one of my favorite authors then. So when I read a featured excerpt of Fated by the end of Hunting Lila I was instantly hooked up. I had it on my to-read list right away and had become one of my most anticipated reads for 2012. And finally I've read it! Although I did notice some flaws in this book I still find this re More...

I was lucky to win Fated through the You Give=We Give campaign, as well as Alderson's debut novel Hunting Lila published in 2011 which has gained a lot of praise.
Fated is a blend of urban fantasy and paranormal romance aimed at a young adult audience. Seventeen year old Evie Tremain dreams of moving to New York and escaping the reminders of her tragic losses. Her plan is ruined when she discovers she is the last pure blood Hunter of the hidden Unhuman races that threaten to overrun More...

Excitement! Action! Gorgeous boys and obscure prophesies! Add to that a kickass heroine, and Sarah Alderson’s Fated has it all.
Seventeen year old Evie Tremain is a waitress in a backwater diner, and she’s just trying to make it through the day... so she can make it through the week, the month, the end of school, and get the hell out of the town she grew up in. The town that has grown way, way too small. Meanwhile, Lucas—half human, half Unhuman Shadow Warrior—knows nothing but reven More...

Fast paced and action packed.

Sarah Alderson strikes again! With a new heart-pounding adventure, Alderson has amazed me yet again with her brilliant story-telling and fantastic writing. Fated is definitely a book all paranormal lovers out there should look out for!
You know, I’m incredibly impressed with the paranormal creatures Alderson has created in Fated. There’s an organisation called the Brotherhood, comprising of different types of demon assassins, or Unhumans; there are vampires, shapeshifters , MIXENS (wh More...

I spent a good half hour wondering how I was going to write this. So I ended up thinking…and thinking…and thinking. But I just couldn’t find the words. Brodie said: “Fated will hook you in the moment you open the book.” That’s true! As for what Sarah Alderson said: “I hope you like it…” which was really in the style of, “I hope you like it but I know you won’t like it because there’s another steamy scene and steamy scenes don’t digest well with you because, clearly, you need to have that sort of

Going into this book, I had very high expectations. Although, I wasn't a big fan of Sarah Alderson's Hunting Lila, I decided to give Fated a try because the summary and cover drew me in.
I'm not too sure about how I feel when it comes to this book. At times I enjoyed it and other times I got bored.
We are introduced to Evie, a human demon hunter. She has no idea that she is in fact a Hunter. She only realizes it when a g More...

I just this minute finished Fated. I'm not quite sure what to say about it, but I'll try! There was much to like, and there were a few things I wanted more of.
It is an interesting story, that's for sure. I like the idea of demon hunters. Oh wait, Hunters of the Unhuman. I like to think that there are special beings out there protecting me from evil and harm. I loved the training scenes. I wonder how I would fare in some of this training? I'm not athletic in any way, so I'm gues More...

Sarah Alderson has a knack for stories of this kind. And by stories of this kind, I mean those that pair up unlikely people together in a story that if not mystery-filled then with some pretty interesting twists in them. Plus the action, when there was some, went non-stop. Plus have I mentioned how hot most of them seem to be? Definitely, no wilting wall flowers here or scrawny barely there boys either. And sure I wasn’t blown away by her Hunting Lila, yet I surprise myself yet agai More...

If this whole book was as good as the last 100 pages, I would be a happy camper. Alas, it wasn't.
The beginning really dragged for me. It took way too long to get into the obvious story. From early on, you could tell what was going to happen... Evie was going to fall for Lucas and he was going to fall for her. It took 200 pages for this to happen and we only get one somewhat steamy scene?!!?!? Seriously?!?!?! All that build up for one stinking scene?!!?!?! AHHHH!!!!

Fated is a young adult, urban fantsay novel with a bit of romance thrown in for good measure. Evie and Lucas take turns narrating.
Evie, our heroine is seventeen years old and working at a diner in her hometown to earn enough money so she can move to New York. She is nursing a broken heart, grieving over her dead best friend and father, missing her ex boyfriend and bitter that her ex cheated on her with her best friend.

My inital reaction when I started this book was WOW. So completely different from Sarah's first book and yet full of all of the things that made me love Hunting Lila.

'Fated' is an incredible action-packed ride which was so deliciously good that it definitely left me wanting more. It opens with a shocking prologue which really grabbed my attention from the very first opening sentence. This led onto a couple of explosive chapters which set the pace for a story which was tense, gripping and exciting.

Fated should firmly go in the "must read" category of 2012 with it's driving plot, compelling characters and abundance of action I loved every single freaking minute of it.
Evie Tremain is desperate to get out of her small town, she works two jobs so that she can get to New York and start her life over after losing her father and best friend in a relatively short space of time. However, the course of Evie's life changes dramatically one night after work when she finds herself More...

Evie is just a normal waitress, desperately saving money so she can leave her small town behind and move to New York. That is until she comes under attack from a group of demons (or Unhumans as they prefer to be known). Now she is thrown into the supernatural world, discovering she is the last born Hunter (or demon slayer) and it is her job to protect humanity. Lucas is half human and half Shadow Warrior and he works as an assassin for the Brotherhood (the Unhuman assassins who are set on des

In Short
- A unique paranormal book
- Sarah was able to make her own little ‘mark’ on the paranormal genre
- Lots of great twists which will keep you gripped
- Sarah is a very talented author who’s writing flows really well.
In Long
I will admit that I wasn’t really that excited about Fated, I was worrying that I wouldn’t be able to get into it due to not being able to get into paranormal books as easily lately. I was wrong!

If you read and loved Hunting Lila by Sarah Alderson, then you should be prepared to know that this book is nothing like it. I am not saying it isn't fabulous, I am just saying it is completely different. This book is full of fast action, edge of your seat moments, involving Hunters whose sole destiny is to destroy Unhumans. Think how Stephanie Meyer wrote Host which is in a completely different vein to the Twilight books and you will understand what I mean. Luckily I had been prepared for a di

When I heard Sarah Alderson had a new book coming out, you could imagine how I excited I was! After reading, Hunting Lila, Sarah has become one of my favourite authors, so I didn’t hesitate to pre-order, Fated! After finishing this book, I can gladly say you won’t be disappointed.
When I opened this book, even though I’ve only read one book by Sarah, her debut, I walked into this novel with total comfort and familiarity from the authors previous work. It was like a warm hug.

You know that gut wrenching feeling you get when there's such an amazing meal right in front of you, that looks so delicious, so appealing and smells so uplifting that you can't possibly wait to get into it? All you want to do is pick each bite as slowly as possible savouring the taste and simply willing it to last forever though at the very same time you can not wait to finish it entirely so that you can sit there in complete satisfaction and let your thoughts revolve around just how GOOD reall

After finishing Hunting Lila, I dived right into Fated, knowing I needed more of Alderson's brilliant writing, knowing Fated would be just as amazing! I wasn't disappointed!
