Yes, in case you're wondering, I'm even more ashamed than when I gave its predeccesor The Highlander's Touch three stars. It seems that I'm deteriorating into some obscure form of madness in which time-travelling, historical romance can illicit a four star rating out of me.
They should name a damn charitable foundation after me to help other people suffering from this obscure mental illness.
But it's honestly not my fault. The fault lies with Karen Marie Moning.

I am on Highlander high and these books are going to be my fix! I absolutely LOVED Kiss of the Highlander

The cover - my oh my can it be more hot?!
Love the pic, and I'd sure like to meet that model just to see how good a Highlander kiss can be :))))
The story - I loved the whole concept, and it was well written, mixing time travel with druids and magic... Just wow!

Drustan and Gwen's story - I enjoyed this book, it was my first KMM book ever! This is one of KMM's funniest books. I love how Gwen was looking for a cherry picker to rid her of her virginity then when she saw Drustan she thought he looked more like a cherry tree chopper downer than a cherry picker.

Durstan, a hot higlander that's as alpha as they come and loves unconditionally, meets his match with his heroine Gwen. She's smart and pushes all his buttons, both good and bad.
The story is well paced and has a touch of pnr element and time travel which I enjoyed. I also adored the supporting characters in this and found that they played a major part in balancing this great little love story.
This is a romantic and "feel good" read, that had me laughing out loud. It's a winner!

5 Gigantic Stars!!! FANTASTICAL!! It was worth all the anxiety I felt for reading out of order. A few pages in and all that OCD flew out the window!!

I loved everything about this book, starting with the yummy cover! Oh boy, I could stare at Nathan Kamp's lips for a lifetime!... ;)
Now, focusing on the story itself... Once again, KMM gave us a more-than-wonderful hero (Drustan MacKeltar) but, this time, she gave us an amazing heroine (Gwen Cassidy) who, I admit, I loved better than the hero. And that's something, because I adored Drustan! Gwen was intelligent, funny, feisty and determined; Drustan didn't really stand a chance with her. When sh...more

This was a delightful book. Heartwarming and hilarious in turns, it kept my interest. I really enjoy the fact that KMM's heroines tend to be very intelligent and capable. It's nice to see that in romances. I don't see why a heroine can't be smarter than the hero or more accomplished. I'm glad that KMM doesn't adhere to that formula in her novels. Her heroines tend to be on the physically perfect side, but they are so nice, it doesn't annoy me. Drustan was delicious and he was a nice guy too. He...more

I read Moning's Fever series 1st which as a whole, I think is extremely good & I highly recommend. I was recommended to this series books ONLY if I liked the Fever books(& was told to read in order). Let me explain why.

*** I am absolutely in love with the MacKeltar clan! ***
A truly lovely story of Drustan and Gwen.

If their love story is not a true fairy-tale tale I don't know what is. You have a charming prince... eeer I mean laird being woken up by kiss... err I mean blood and sunshine lol, BUT he gets woken up by his true love (even though they both hesistant, especially Gwen to admit that). Drustan gets woken up being stranded by beautiful & practically naked, by his 16th century standards, l...more

FABULOUS!!!!! I absolutely loved this book and am so very thankful to my friend K. ODoharty for giving me the nudge I needed to pick it up and read it because it had sat on my to-read shelf for far too long!
Here are some things you need to know about this book:
Drustan MacKeltar is a Highland laird from the 16th Century and he is one hunky, drop-dead gorgeous, kilt-wearing hero!! AND, shall I mention that he wears his kilt ‘traditional style’.. if you catch my meaning. ;) Anyway, a spell is cast...more

KOTH starts off back in 1500's Scotland. A witch has determined that, some day soon, the wife of Laird Drustan MacKeltar would be the cause of her son's demise. Since her son, being a good man, made her promise not to harm the as yet unmarried Mackeltar, she devised another plan to get him out of the picture. She had some traveling gypsies put a curse on him that will cause him to sleep for eternity.

Repeating myself yet again with this series - but I absolutely love these books.
This was a freakishly sexy version of Sleeping Beauty I suppose and I loved every minute of it.
It was extremely sweet and I am now at the point that I would kill to be tupped by a Scottish Highlander...come find me boys!
Drustan will most definitely be in my dreams tonight - see you soon sweet thing.

What a fun book! I really had no idea how they would get an HEA, and just when thought I did, I got a smack to the forehead and a "Wait for it..." I loved Drustan to bits and thought Gwen a formidable partner for him. The time travel was handled well, not an afterthought or a flimsy excuse for a costume party. Can't wait to finish the series.
I couldn't help but smile while reading this book. I simply fell in love with the love story. This book had a clever plot, fascinating characters, steamy romance, and great writing. Definitely a keeper!
Things that I love about this book:
--Time Travel: not only did the hero travel forward to the present, but the heroine traveled back to the past. We get to see them in both worlds. It's like awesomeness times five hundred!
--The Drustan and Gwen: Och, they are a fine couple.
--A bit of amnesia (kinda): who doesn't love seeing the hero and heroine fall madly in love twice! It's irrefutable prove that true love exists.
--The family: I want to be adopted into that family. It would be so cool to hav...more

After disliking the first book of the series, I was distraught, not knowing how to read this series. Afterall, I had fallen in love with Ms. Moning's world (from the Fever series) and wanted more. My friends advised me to restart the series from book 4, with the MacKelters. Good idea, since I wanted to learn about the druids who raised Christian and I wanted some preface before I read about Adam Black.

If I were KMM's editor I would have asked her to re-write the first 150 pages, because they ruin the book for me. After the first twist in the story things become much more interesting, and far less annoying.
I had to bookmark a quote that I thought so well embodied what I hated about the book, it's from page 139: "he likes my thong, she thought, beaming. She'd always known that if she'd picked the right man to pluck her cherry, he would appreciate her good taste." I swear, the next time I read...more

I'm giving this 4 stars, since in comparison to the previous 3 books in this series which I rated 3 stars, this one is slightly more engaging, it's plot a little more complex and the characters are just wonderful. KMM has a way of writing that lets you feel like you know these characters from the beginning pages, and you immediately become invested and engaged in their story. I loved the heroine in this story, Gwen- she's super smart and just doesn't give up, even in the face of some incredible...more

Oh my gosh, I loved this!!!
Twists and turns through time.
So much fun...she locks him in the bathroom! Well done, sister!

Edited on 2/26/13 had to read this one again. I love Drustan and I love Gwen...and I love them together. Gwen is a woman who knows what she wants...even when HIS memory is gone. Really enjoyable....more

I love the MacKeltar family! Gwen and Drustan's love is one of those rare and intense kinds of things. I thought it so funny that Gwen was looking for her 'cherry-picker' and was determined to make her own way in life. I liked the way the preciousness of her giving her virginity to Drustan was not just swept under the rug. The enchanted sleep from the Rom on Drustan (regardless of that Bitch Basetta) was a good twist on time-travel that I was not expecting. I love this series!! Great read!! I wa...more

Once again I loved this story.
Though the time travel-theme returns in almost the entire Highlander-series Moning knows how to give each book it’s own twist and that way you don’t get the sense of repetition and each book holds something unique to it.
And I really like the twist she gives Kiss of the Highlander.
