The Good Stuff
* Good layout and organization of recipes
* Good variety of recipes
* Wife says the index is bloody wonderful - but this would only be important to seriously anal library workers & nerds (Jen's note - nice eh, if he didn't cook as well as he did I might have to kick him to the curb for that)
* Recipes have simple easy to understand instructions, not too much prep time and most of the ingredients are readily available even here in the boonies

I've been surprised by how many recipes in this book I've enjoyed, and repeated multiple times. A really nice collection of simple, affordable, and quick meals. Good and affordable collection for those looking for options to lighten up traditional meals. Also good for beginners to get a good variety of starter recipes. One concern, I'm consistently finding myself adding additional herbs and seasonings to recipes that either call for too little or practically none at all. Martha should know there...more
I've just started getting into cooking within the past 6 months and this has been the perfect intro for me. Almost everything I've made from this book has been great! It's also been a good bonding experience for me and my dad as he likes to act as my "sous chef". The meals taste good while still being healthy - and my dad is diabetic and these meals never spike his sugars.
Definitely a well-worth it purchase.

UGH! January is here again so it is time to rein in the scale, tight pants, & big meals. Thankfully Martha offers some easy delicious recipes in this book that are less than 500 calories each. I really like the first two books she (and her staff) did. Nothing terribly daring or cutting edge, but when I am stymied at the end of a long work day, these books help me whip up something tasty in an hour or less.
Lots of good ideas for light cooking.
I love that it's divided by the seasons - makes knowing what produce is going to be available AND is nice to have lighter offerings for the summer.
Many of the recipes have 5-10 ingredients or less.
Many of the recipes because of the limited number of ingredients seem to be bland when I combine in my head. I will have to try some of the and see what my taste buds think!

You can't go wrong with Martha's team. 250 quick and easy recipes to lighten up your plate - without sacrificing flavour.
