This book recounts Lewis and Clark's journey to find the Northwest Passage from the point of view of Lewis' Newfoundland, Seaman. Each chapter starts with a passage from Lewis' journal and then fills in the details from Seaman's point of view. Really good, well-researched historical fiction.

A story told from the point of view of a dog traveling with the Lewis and Clark expedition. The author does a great job of using historical fiction to teach young readers about the adventures of Lewis and Clark, Indians, and the untamed West.

This book was told through the eyes of Seaman, Meriweather Lewis' dog. It also incorporates entries from Lewis' personal diary as he traveled to the Northwest Passage and back. It was an interesting slant to a famous historical trip.

A nice intro to the journals, made palatable by the protagonist being a dog. Some fictionalizing, but it adds badly-needed liveliness.

I did not like this book. I thought it was boring. I only read it because we had to for school.
