Woe is Georgia! Georgia Nicolson thought life was hard when her only worry was whether Masimo would choose her over Wet Lindsay. But then Dave the Laugh started acting strange --and everything was turned upside down when Robbie the Sex God suddenly returned!

In this eighth entry of the Confessions of Georgia Nicolson series, every reader will be wishing they had Georgia's

Yessssss. Luuurved it, naturally, though Georgia really is quite stupid, isn't she? (I had to fight the urge to refer to her as a naff prat just then. Things to remember: I am not British. Nor am I 14.) Masimo, the Italian Stallion, does absolutely nothing for me, and I wish he did an equal amount of nothing for her. Alas.

Variations on the word "bitch" were used four times (I think...) ....!! Almost as shocking as the use of the word "slut" in Harry Potter! I mean, why call someone a bitch when...more

I'm not proud, but I totally got hooked on the Angus, Thongs, and Full Frontal Snogging books when I was in library school! They're kind of like the Bridget Jones's Diary books, but for teens. And you can read them in one sitting! This latest installment is as fluffy as the rest and I shudder to think what a real-life Georgia Nicholson would be like (she's awful!), but I still get a kick out of the humor and the glossary provided for Georgia's "American chums."

For a minute there I thought this was going to be a three star book. While I love Gee and the Ace Gang, I can only read about Libby's bizarre toys and the disco inferno with all its many incarnations so many times. Fortunately, Robbie and Dave the Laugh brought this book home in a big big way. I immediately had to begin book 9 and it is with mixed emotions that I enter the home stretch and the impending end of this series.

Gee is on the rack and in the cake shop of lurve. Robbie is back from kiwi...more

Love is a Many Trousered Thing was definitely a bit all over the place in terms of quality compared to the other books in the series I've read but it was good enough over all. It started off quite slow and dragged at parts but it always redeemed itself. Georgia is as sarcastic, dramatic and witty as ever and made me laugh several times. Her narration is really unique and Georgia really started to grow and mature during this one. The ending was really nice and I'll definitely be reading more of t...more

I thought this would be better than it was, but it wasn't, so there you go.

I do not recommend reading these books all in a row, because the novelty wears off FAST.

To be perfectly honest, I don't know what all these "Sex Gods" see in Georgia. I could not really think of very many redeeming qualities, except that she is funny. However, she is not a very nice person at all. I think it would've been better if she was a little more sympathetic as a character.

When Masimo packed up for Italy, I had n...more

As always, I am blown away by Louise Rennison's work. Every since the first book, I have been absolutely IN LOVE with this series. The woman is a genius. I just cannot get enough of Georgia. The girl is so crazy but you can't help but completely adore her. And her "ace gang" is right up there with her.

In this eighth installment, Robbie (her original love) is back and causes more problems for our dear little Georgia. Especially when things are starting to get heated with the drop dead gorgeous It...more

Summary: Georgia finds herself in the "oven of love" once again as she has feelings for three different guys. Who knew it would be so hard to have three gorgeous men liking you at once? Throughout the book Georgia flip-flops from guy to guy, trying to figure out how she really feels about each one. Later, Georgia goes on a camping trip with her class. Her friend Dave shows up and Georgia realizes she might like him more than a friend.

I didn't think it possible for me to like #8 in the series thi...more

Ah, young love. It's ghastly and stupid. Particularly if your ex, your sort-of boyfriend, and your friend that you are quite obviously attracted to are all in the mix.

Luckily we have Georgia Nicolson to sort it all out for us.

Our little girl is growing up, and in the eighth installment of this series, Georgia is demonstrating her maturity. Now, I'm going to go ahead and say that she's quite ignorant about sexuality, but as she's SUPPOSED to be an ignorant young girl (that's ignorant, not hate-fi...more

The cliffhanger at the end of book 7 made fo ra good read this time out. Georgia's big decision wasn't that big in my opinion, the answer was always pretty obvious. That aside this was a really funny book, it's well written and the characters are filled with fabnosity. All in all, I liked this much more than '...Startled By His Furry Shorts'.

Every time I read one of these books I always ask myself, "why?". I still don't know the answer. It's a ok read but I know I have far out grown reading books like this and yet when a new one comes out I pick it up and read it. I can't even understand half the things that Georgia is going on about in the story. Then I find myself going around saying things like "fabby". Oh well, I know when book 9 comes out I'll read that too and start thinking to myself, "why?".

This series never fails to make me laugh out loud. Georgia Nicolson is so confused, so dramatic, and so boy-crazy, but you see hints of a good heart underneath. While enjoying her antics I find myself rooting for the rational part of her brain to win.

I don't know how to recommend these titles to teen girls. Do they take the books seriously or laugh at themselves? Need a little help from all you YA Specialists. How do you sell this series?

I smile fondly at the entire series. I just read books 7,8,9 and really they should be one or maybe two books. They kept ending right in the middle of a scene and made for some artificial cliff-hangers. But I laughed at Georgia's antics, as usual. She seems a tiny bit less self-obsessed and selfish and we do get some more actual family drama. I am anxious to get to the final book of the series. Again - I think audiobooks are the way to go for these. The British accents and phrases are better tha...more

Another fantastic diary in the Georgia Nicolson saga! This one is up there because I laughed a lot and I thought the plot really had me on the edge of my seat. My favorite lines were:

"All I have to do now is explain to Jas what an excellent plan it is. Perhaps I could hit her over the head with a particularly heavy owl and sneak out." p. 166

"The tent collapsed." p. 232

I love Georgia's relationship with her mom, which is sort of changing. There's a lot of back-and-forth I-love-her-I-hate-her but...more

Georgia meets nature in this installment when her class is forced to go on a camping trip. It kind of reminds me of when the boys from Top Gear went camping…the tent issues, bathroom problems etc.—though minus flame issues they encountered.

On a side note, I love wacky Rosie with her fake beard and Viking wedding preparations. Priceless!

On a further side note, I can certainly relate to Georgia when she describes boys’ cologne: “Wearing pongy stuff that some fool in advertising says is irresistib...more

Georgia never fails to disappoint, whether she's falling into bushes running away from boys, or forced to go on a camping trip in a sensible anorak with her shorts-wearing German teacher. In LiaMTT, Georgia's main issue is that she's suddenly got Too Many Boys Sex Gods to deal with, in the shape of Italian Luuurve God Masimo and the Original Sex God, Robbie, who's back from Kiwi-a-go-go-land (New Zealand) and sending Georgia some very mixed signals.

There's also Dave the Laugh, perennial backgrou...more

Georgia Nicholson rides again! These books never fail to make me laugh and possibly roll my eyes. The only bad thing about Louise Rennison's addictive writing is that I go around speaking like a completely naff person on the edge of a nervy b. See? There I go again. I need to check my maturocity.

“Love is a Many Trousered Thing” by Louise Rennison is written in diary format. The book is about Georgia Nicolson’s adventures through life. Georgia is a high schooler at an all girls school in the suburbs of England. Georgia lives with her family who she never fails to portray as crazy. Her mom isn’t your typical stay- home-and-make-dinner-for-the-family sort of woman. She is usually out with the ‘girls’ at yoga, dancing etc. Georgia’s dad, who she calls Vati as they say in Ge...more

This used to be one of my favourite series when I was 14/15.

Georgia's as insane and her escapades as outrageously hilarious as ever. It's laugh-out-loud funny and HUGELY entertaining. Seriously. I mean, Georgia's somewhat of a boy magnet now - has Lurrve God, Masimo, and Sex God, Robbie, at her disposal - and then accidentally lands another boy in the midst. As Well. It's a crazy, crazy romp.

The only reason this loses a star is because, I dunno, but I felt like some of the charm was kinda missi...more

Great book! I think the ending books in the series (from about book #6 on) are my favorite in this hilarious YA series - mostly because issues are finally HAPPENING and PROGRESSING in the novel. The first few books are very diary/journalistic - which is fine - but without a lot of plot movement. Now that I'm seeing Georgia have relationship realizations, and actually have decent/serious/teenage conversations with Mutti (her mom) I'm really REALLY enjoying the series!!!! You can have a hilarious,...more

In the eighth book of the series Georgia finds herself in the cake shop of luurve. She must ultimately choose between a Robbie eclair or an Italian cakey... On the one hand Robbie left her for wombats, but on the other hand Masimo has a handbag – or so Dave the Laugh always says. Wait – how did Dave get in here? Georgia can't possibly choose a Dave the tart, they're just best mateys. Meanwhile, something terrible has happened at school – other than octopus head. For comedy purposes they asked ab...more

The 252 page book called "Love is a Manny Trousered Thing [Cofessions of Georgia Nicolson, Volume 8) is written by Louis Rennison. In the story the main charecter is Georgia, she has a bit of a love problem because she has to solve what guy she should choose to be with. Either Robbie, Masimo or Dave the Laugh. Dave the Laugh is a cute character and Georgia finds out that he too, likes her back. Though for Robbie and Masimo they are basically Romeo, and Georgia is Juliet. Georgia's charecter is t...more

Georgia Nicolson has really got boy problems (what else is new?). Just when she thinks she's heading to no-boyfriend highway without a snog in sight, she has three boys — the Sex God, the Luuurve God, and the Hornmeister — wanting to be her one and only. Masimo has decided he wants to be free for her, but now Robbie wants to meet up for coffee and 'talk.' Meanwhile, Dave the Laugh has a new girlfriend named Emma, but he clearly still has eyes for Georgia.

More funny adventures for Georgia and her...more

These books are so consistently fun. I missed the Jesus/Sandra jokes, but Rennison brought back a lot familiar funnies that had me laughing in my head - and in real life. I rarely laugh at things in real life, but Rennison always manages to make me do the legitimate LOL. She also finally started tying up the romantic plot threads that she began weaving together throughout the series, and the boy I've shipped since the early books is coming into the forefront. Huzzah, hooray! And *not* er-lack-a-...more

Oddly, my local pound shop had a bunch of books in this week and this was one of them. Having enjoyed the Georgia Nicolson books before, I gave it a shot! I picked it up because I was at a pretty dark place in the book I was reading and just wanted to read a bit of something light-hearted before I went to sleep. It's testiment to how light-hearted and fun this is that I ended up staying awake for an extra hour so I could finish it.

I am not the target market in any way (I think, ostensibly, that...more

Not the most hellarious in the series but still fabby! I'm v. happy that finally, finally I will have a sort-of closure with Georgia Nicolson's adventures on her bakery of Luuuurv. See, this was the only missing piece (of cake, lol) in my set and I have waited for more than a year (that's how long it took for my favorite bookstore to hold a sale)! Imagine not knowing for more than a year that the lovely gorgy Georgia has been batting eyelashes with THREE maybe boyfriends in a parallel fictional...more
