May 02, 2011 Tammara marked it as my-books  ·  (Review from the author)
I'm the author of this YA/New Adult novel, the first in a series (of four).

I really enjoyed this warmly engaging read from start to finish. It's more of an acoustic singer/songwriter piece than a senses assaulting rave (no crazy "teen lingo" or wacky style devices), and the pace and your engagement with the characters builds slowly, but intensely, as the story unfolds. It's a POV of two characters, the somewhat naive Emma, a young actress appearing in her first major film, and Reid, a mega teen idol playing the lead, and he hopes, playing Emma as well. To me Emma was t...more

~If I met you last night, and brought you back to my place, or followed you to yours, and we had sex, that's what we asked for from each other. It's what I got, and what you got. I don't know you. You don't know me. Thanks for playing, and we're done. If by some fluke anything was said at some point during this entire exchange that made me curious enough to see you again, I would.
Has that happened before? A couple of times. Did it last? Clearly, no.~

Sorry that the starting quote was a bit long.....more

I don't know what it is about characters who are movie stars that intrigue me. Maybe it's cause I don't find this concept in everyday reads and it's refreshing, but what ever the reason I was really curious about Between the Lines and I'm happy to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
Angst and all.

I'm gonna start by saying I don't really understand why one of the point of views was Reid Alexander? It's hard to explain unless you've read this book, but it almost felt... unnecessary...more

If you harbor a guilty pleasure for reading about the private lives of your favorite actors--and don't we all, sometimes?--you'll be able to appreciate the appeal of this novel. 17-year-old actor Emma, a mostly-unknown, lands the lead role in a teen chick flick opposite the hottest teen male actor going, Reid Alexander. What girl wouldn't lose her head a little when said hottie actually takes a off-screen romantic (or at least sexual) interest in her?

Webber doesn't sugar-coat the Hollywood life...more

3.5 stars... I really wanted to give this book a 5 star rating, but I just could not do it. It's like saying frozen yogurt tastes just like ice cream.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed reading this book, I devowered it and I'm already going to start Where You Are... there was just so much of Graham missing and that's all I wanted to read about. Not Reid and his naughty bad boy ways or his train wreck of a child hood. My hope is that I will be rewarded in Where You Are.

Don't even get...more

I have friends who recommend books to me all the time. Great books. I usually read what I'm told, sometimes I push it off, saying "soon". My friend Autumn at Autumn Review and I have an agreement: If one of us doesn't read an "OMG-You-Must-Read-This-Series-Now!!!" recommendation when we're told, the recommend-er is allowed to punch the non-compliant recomend-ee in the face. Virtually, of course.

So here I am, offering my face up for a beat down, with no arguments, because Autumn, among others, h...more

First off: A book that actually has texts that young adults would actually write! Other authors are too busy using slang and abbreviations that nobody ever uses to try and sound cool, that it makes me cringe. Sorry for the random note, but an author actually getting it right was much appreciated.
Now, to the story. I really did enjoy this novel. The whole celebrity perspective is always fun to read. And the story centering around a movie production was entertaining. I love alternating point of vi...more

I'm still debating on what I think about this one.

6/4/13

I liked the world: Hollywood. But I feel a little thrown. The blurb mentions Emma and Reid, but Reid is not our hero (in the traditional meaning of the word). So, why was he in the blurb and Graham wasn't? It's like watching a movie trailer and thinking it's a comedy, but when you see the movie, it's a drama. You feel lied to.

The other thing that bugged me a bit was the amount of distance the writing style gave. I felt very distant from the...more

4.5 Stars!! Fantastic...loved it! Told from 2 different POV's the story focuses on two actors of an upcoming movie. Reid is Hollywood's bad-boy and Emma is an up and coming star, and quite naïve. Mix in a whole bunch of other young celebs and you have the stuff tabloid fodder is made of. Both come from dysfunctional households, but how they choose to handle what’s been thrown at them, and who they become, is what’s at the heart of this story! Oh and toss in a HOTTIE named Graham *swoon, swoon an...more

I don't have time to read but I keep buying books (and my next-to-read list is getting huge) ;))

I blame the cover 'cuz it's cute.. Oh well, it was only $0.99 on Amazon and it had good reviews so I hope I'll enjoy it :)

This was one of those books that was impossible to put down. Case in point: it was read, out loud, on a car ride to and from LA with my friend. (Yes, we are ridiculous)

Between the Lines is a story about an unknown actress getting cast in an expected blockbuster alongside Hollywood's Golden Boy. Throw in the actress ex-girlfriend who's also in the movie and an Indie actor, and you've got yourself a rich mixing of characters that bring this story to life.

Emma has done some commercials and a few m...more

Wow. I was pleasantly surprised with this book. I started reading it as part of a Rockstar/Celebrity Reading Challenge. This is not the kind of book I would normally read, but I really, really enjoyed it.

Brief Summary
Emma is an unknown actress who lands the leading female role in a big movie starring the current heartthrob Reid Alexander. Reid is a hot hollywood "it" boy who is used to getting whoever he wants, until he meets Emma Pierce and things get complicated.

Okay!

Summary: Normal Emma Pierce receives the main role in a new major movie, an adaption of Pride and Prejudice. She's acts alongside Reid Alexander, a teen “heartthrob”. And... I'm having a trouble even describing the summary of this book... because not much happens.

Umm...

So I didn't really GET this book. Throughout the whole thing I was sadly bored. I would have put it down, but I hate not finishing things. Sticking with it until the end didn't exactly make it any better.

Between the Lines is a bit different from the other New Adult books I have read so far, mainly due to the setting. This book is set within the film industry and more importantly, on location in Texas. Most of the other books in this genre that I have read have been set in college so it made a change to read about characters in a completely new and different setting. It was also interesting to see the characters reacting to such a different situation than we are used to in this genre. The book al...more

Honestly when I picked up Between the Lines I had no idea what it was about. I only knew two things, A) The author Tammara Webber had written it and I quite enjoyed her as a person since we belonged to the same FB bookgroup and B) That many of my friends had read it and enjoyed it. After reading her book "Easy" and loving that I decided to tackle the first in her Between the Lines series and I have to say it could be because of my age but I enjoyed Easy a whole lot more. Though , that's not sayi...more

Like I wrote in my review about the book Easy, Tammara Webber is definitely an Author to follow. I took a chance on it ONLY because I really liked the book Easy. I am glad I did. As ALWAYS with my reviews, I will NOT go into great detail about the book. IT BEATS THE REASON TO READ IT YOURSELF!! :)

Between the Lines is a REALLY good little read and the first book in this series. You get a firm understanding on who Emma is, where she's at in her life and where she is going. The other characters in...more

RATING: 3.5/5

Okay, so I have read some of Tammara Webber's books before and I quite liked them, but this one was kind of blah for me. When I picked it up, I expected to hate it because it sounded like such a cliche storyline, but I'll give 'Between The Lines' one thing. It was not at all cliche. The author has done a lot to the plot that is refreshing.

*MAJOR SPOILER ALERT*

I thought Emma would end up with Reid because that is what usually happens in these kind of books - the bad playboy gets the...more

I had high hopes after seriously enjoying Tammara's novel 'Easy'; it's so gutting that this book just didn't do it for me like that one did.
I enjoyed the double viewpoint. The main character of 'Emma' felt so young, naive and a complete push over. I liked her but she really got on my nerves sometimes, she was so scared to go for anything she wanted and worse, just seemed to do what other people wanted all the time.
Reid was the only character I found particularly interesting, I didn't >like h...more

Okay, I read this in like half an hour, and have to say it was pretty good. I think this book needs more credit then it's deserved. I mean right now everybodies just writing books about the world ending, and a romance going on between rebels, and things like that. This book might be a few years old, but I;m happy with it because it doesn't talk about these things: vampires. I have a mutual understanding with vampire books, but they're just too many out right now. The second thing would have to b...more

So yeah, i'll cut straight to the chase I think. This triangle, sucked. Sure, it was different considering one was actually a douche and that the characters which got first introduced didn't end up together, but i think it was plain stupid.

The main character did nothing but let everyone grab her and kiss her and she was never truly honest with neither. She just needed them to...more

My sister shoved this into my hands. I was kind of ify because I knew this had a love triangle, something I hate. But I wanted to read it because its Tammara Webber. Easy was amazing, so why not try Between the Lines? But of course its not as good as Easy, and to be honest I don't think anything else will ever be as good as Easy.

As I've said before this has a love triangle so I wasn't overly excited to read it. But I did, mainly because I was pretty much out of options on books to read. And if...more

I'm sort of unsure of how I feel about this one. I LOOOVED Webber's novel, Easy. I mean, I ADORE Lucas. I've probably read it 5 times in the last 4 months. So I was kind of disappointed that I wasn't loving this like I did Easy. I think Webber is a talented story teller and this concept diet grab me right away. It sat in my unread shelf for a long time. Having read it now, I rather enjoyed the concept but I wasn't really into Reid and fairly indifferent to Emma.

Emma Pierce is a young actress who has been working hard since childhood at her craft and is about to get her big break staring in a major studio film across from Reid Alexander, the hot Hollywood heartthrob whose posters are plastered all over the bedrooms of teens everywhere.

Emma was chosen by the director because of the chemistry between herself and Reid, and Reid wants to see how that chemistry works off screen as well. Only problem being he's a playboy, jumping from one girl to the next, re...more

While I really enjoyed this book, I felt like it dragged on.
I suppose when you are used to a story "getting to the point" as quickly as possible it throws you off when it doesn't.

The main character, Emma, recently scored the role of a life-time with attractive "it" guy, Reid, in the newest remake (with a twist) of Pride and Prejudice. Everything starts as expected in this genre, great chemistry between Lizabeth and Will (Reid) – Things, of course, get complicated when indie-actor Gra...more

I really don't know where to start with this review. The story was good but I can't help being torn between Reid and Graham ( I seem to always have a soft spot for the bad boy)
Anyway..... I know Emma likes Graham more which is because he kissed her first. If Graham liked her as much as he claimed he could have told her?
Now to Reid- ok he is a douche the way he uses woman but I see how he is with Emma. Not sure if it's because he wants to sleep with her and he will toss her aside when his done...more
