I really enjoyed this warmly engaging read from start to finish. It's more of an acoustic singer/songwriter piece than a senses assaulting rave (no crazy "teen lingo" or wacky style devices), and the pace and your engagement with the characters builds slowly, but intensely, as the story unfolds. It's a POV of two characters, the somewhat naive Emma, a young actress appearing in her first major film, and Reid, a mega teen idol playing the lead, and he hopes, playing Emma as well. It's more of an acoustic singer/songwriter piece than a senses assaulting rave (no crazy "teen lingo" or wacky style devices), and the pace and your engagement with the characters builds slowly, but intensely, as the story unfolds. It's a POV of two characters, the somewhat naive Emma, a young actress appearing in her first major film, and Reid, a mega teen idol playing the lead, and he hopes, playing Emma as well. To me Emma was the main attraction of the book, and it seemed like it was really her story. Other reviews have even questioned what Reid's POV added, but although he does seem like a classic Mr. Wickham-style cad, he has a backstory and lots going on that make him relatable and interesting, if ultimately unappealing. There's enough to him that you can see why Emma is attracted, even beyond the obvious. I did feel like shouting "Don't go in there, Emma," more than once, but that just added to the fun. A sequel is planned, and I suspect we may see him working out some of those issues therein, I hope so, his story with his parents, and Brooke, the naughty image co-star with a secret, are definitely worthy of further exploration. Emma's friend Emily is a great character too, not just as a foil for Emma's thoughts (and lots of backstory), but as a charming and quirky person on her own. Graham, the other main male character is everything one could hope for in a YA mysterious indie loner dude, and Emma's struggle to understand him, and her feelings for him (and his for her?) are unrolled at just the right pace to build tension and interest, without being downright frustrating. This has been one of the best books I've read this year, right up with favs like Lauren Barnholdt. I hope it does well, it is a self-publication on Kindle and Nook (I read it on my Nook), and though lots of people do have access that way, not everyone does, so I hope it works out for the author. For the $.99 price tag, I definitely got $99.00 worth of enjoyment. Did I mention that it's long enough to be satisfying, too? Super short novels are fun, but this is a main course, not just a couple appetizers snagged from a Wish catering tray as Kristy sashays by. Congratulations to Tammara Webber, and here's hoping for a long and happy writing career.(less)

I don't know what it is about characters who are movie stars that intrigue me. Maybe it's cause I don't find this concept in everyday reads and it's refreshing, but what ever the reason I was really curious about Between the Lines and I'm happy to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

I'm gonna start by saying I don't really understand why one of the point of views was Reid Alexander? It's hard to explain unless you've read this book, but it almost felt... unnecessary to hear his POV since I basically wanted to slap him upside the head from minute one. I'm gonna guess there is a reason, maybe in upcoming books, but still.
He's a complicated guy. Okay scratch that. He's pompous, a player and pretty much your standard jack-ass. But beneath his daddy issues and the obvious good looks, sexy smile and killer lines I can tell that he wanted to be more then what he is and that it scares the crap out of him at the same time. I think Emma could have changed him, been good for him, but we'll never know and for once I'm not complaining.
~Emma Pierce is a great character. She's levelheaded, doesn't let this fame thing mess with her head and actually wants to be something then just another Hollywood meg-star. I can see why she was so confused. Mixed signals were everywhere in this book which was both frustrating and exciting.
~As for Graham Douglas? ~sigh~ I really loved that guy. Which goes back to why I don't really understand why Reid was one of the POV'S and not Graham. I would have really really really wanted to get in his head with this book. He confused me the most, but oddly I wasn't as frustrated with him as I should have been. I loved his friendship with Emma and I loved how much he looked after Brooke, but what I really love was the real reason behind everything. I gotta say, I nevah saw that coming. Very well played, Webber!

I think for a first novel, Tammara Webber does a fabulous job. I was completely absorbed in the plot-line, reveling in the all the delicious angst while taken in with the Hollywood coming and going's.
In short, this was a really fun book to loss yourself in.

All in all I kinda loved this one. It's different, it's exasperating, and it has some of the best chemistry you could cut with a knife.
But I think the very best thing about this book is that it wasn't predictable. At all. I kept waiting for that moment where all my hopes and dreams for what I wanted to happen dash in utter disappointment...but it never came. Which is a very very good thing.

Acabó de terminar este libro, así que teniendo todo fresco en mi cerebro decidí compartir cuanto me gusto la historia. Tenía grandes esperanzas en este libro, !Y no me defraudo!
A pesar de que la historia es un cliché, (Enamorarse de un famoso actor no es lo más original del mundo), la personalidad arrogante, presuntuosa y cínica de Reid me enamoro. El libro está narrado desde varios puntos de vista, así que pude meterme en la cabeza de los personajes principales.

Webber doesn't sugar-coat the Hollywood life, that's for sure. This book confirmed what I already guessed: namely, I'd advise most teens to run as fast as they can *away* from a life of movie-based fame. These kids drink, swear, try drugs, and have sex (some way more than others on all counts, but still, everyone takes a taste of those behaviors), and have to suffer the ridiculous speculations of tabloids on top of it all. The thing that really shows Webber's writing skills is that I *liked* all of them. Even Reid, who I often wanted to shake violently for being such a thoughtless slut, had his charms and his moments of depth. (It was an interesting choice for Webber to use him as one of the two POV characters--but now that I'm done, I see why she couldn't use Graham, and in any case it did help me not hate Reid, which I might've done if I hadn't seen life through his eyes.)

Poor Emma is *mostly* an innocent, and gets blindsided by the nasty side of fame at the same time that she's getting dazzled by the perks of it. I found her thoroughly lovable, and even understood when she got tempted onto unwise paths with Reid.

But naturally it's Graham (in which role I would cast Joseph Gordon-Leavitt) who we all really swoon for, and are impatiently waiting for Emma to get together with. I won't give spoilers on that, except to say that there's a really unexpected and bittersweet twist at the end, despite which I was left with a warm glowy feeling about the future of the characters. 3.5 stars... I really wanted to give this book a 5 star rating, but I just could not do it. It's like saying frozen yogurt tastes just like ice cream.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed reading this book, I devowered it and I'm already going to start Where You Are... there was just so much of Graham missing and that's all I wanted to read about. Not Reid and his naughty bad boy ways or his train wreck of a child hood. My hope is that I will be rewarded in Where You Are.

So here I am, offering my face up for a beat down, with no arguments, because Autumn, among others, has been telling me to read Tammara Webber's BETWEEN THE LINES series for months. Why didn't I listen?? I could have been in on all of the fun, and I've been missing out. I hate missing out.

This book? It went above and beyond my high expectations. You have Reid, beyond gorgeous, the hottest young actor in Hollywood. Reid is a womanizer, to say the least. He can have any girl he wants, and he wants them all. He's a bit of a sleaze. Except...there's more going on with Reid. His parents are royally screwed up, distorting his perception of healthy relationships. I'm hoping to see Reid have some redemption later in the series. But for now?

Reid wants Emma, his new co-star. Emma was a completely endearing, sweetheart of a character. ADORE. Emma is the type of character that you want to smoosh up and hug when she's upset. She is self-aware and self-assured. I love that she knows who she is and what she wants for her future. Despite the fact she is a rising actress, she's yearning for a normal, happy life. I love that even when she is hurt by a guy, she is even more devastated by her troubled relationship with her best friend. I love that even though one of the hottest guys in the world wants her, she can't stop thinking about Graham.

Graham.I just...I just can't adequately describe my feelings for the sensitive, introverted, intense, beautiful boy. Graham is everything I love about books guys. He has the quiet moments that speak so much. Most of the book, Graham is a mystery. Not dangerous, just unknown. I liked him so, so much throughout the story. He is an anchor for Emma. I completely fell head over heels, completely and forever in love with him in the last several chapters of the story.

I honestly did go into this book with the highest of expectations. Dangerous, I know. I just knew I would love Tammara Webber's writing. I was hooked from the first paragraph. The characters were alive to me. The story was engaging. I actually left a music festival to go read for an hour in my hotel room. A music festival. That's serious business, guys. And soooo worth it. The ending completely killed me, in the best way possible. And as soon as I turned the last page, I started book two, WHERE YOU ARE.

Siempre que comienzo a leer un libro, sé que personaje (masculino) es mi preferido, el cuál apoyaré hasta el final de la historia. Pero en este libro, fue diferente. Se me hacía imposible elegir por uno de los dos, pero fue la actitud presuntuosa de Reid lo que me conquistó. (¡Hey, no me culpen, esos chicos son mi debilidad!) Francamente, me encantó amar/odiar a Reid, lo cual creo era el objetivo de Webber, pero lo seguiré amando odiando hasta aprenda a respetar a los demás.

A pesar de que la historia sea un cliché, Webber no evadió temas como alcohol, drogas y sexo como otros libros lo hacen. Los cuales, aceptémoslo o no, forman parte de las vidas de la mayoría de los adolescentes hoy en día. También hubo momentos y conflictos inesperados que, sinceramente, no veía venir. Y el final… sólo les puedo decir que no es el final estándar o estereotipo que vemos en la mayoría de los libros. Y no les diré más porque no lo quiero estropear ;)

Webber ha anunciado que habrá dos libros más. El siguiente saldrá en octubre el cual lleva como título Where You Are. Y el tercer y último será publicado en diciembre del mismo año. En fin, no tengo nada más que agregar, sólo que cuando lean Between the Lines, mantengan una mente abierta hacia la trama, la cual, como ya dije, cuenta con temas fuertes. Pero algo les puedo asegurar, ¡no se arrepentirán de leerla!

First off: A book that actually has texts that young adults would actually write! Other authors are too busy using slang and abbreviations that nobody ever uses to try and sound cool, that it makes me cringe. Sorry for the random note, but an author actually getting it right was much appreciated.

I liked the world: Hollywood. But I feel a little thrown. The blurb mentions Emma and Reid, but Reid is not our hero (in the traditional meaning of the word). So, why was he in the blurb and Graham wasn't? It's like watching a movie trailer and thinking it's a comedy, but when you see the movie, it's a drama. You feel lied to.

This was one of those books that was impossible to put down. Case in point: it was read, out loud, on a car ride to and from LA with my friend. (Yes, we are ridiculous)

Between the Lines is a story about an unknown actress getting cast in an expected blockbuster alongside Hollywood's Golden Boy. Throw in the actress ex-girlfriend who's also in the movie and an Indie actor, and you've got yourself a rich mixing of characters that bring this story to life.

Between the Lines is a story about an unknown actress getting cast in an expected blockbuster alongside Hollywood's Golden Boy. Throw in the actress ex-girlfriend who's also in the movie and an Indie actor, and you've got yourself a rich mixing of characters that bring this story to life.

Emma has done some commercials and a few made-for-TV movies, but when the chance comes along to star in a movie opposite Reid Alexander in a modern adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, she's both wary (because she wants to be normal) and excited (hello, Reid Alexander). Upon meeting Reid, there's instant chemistry between the two.

Reid Alexander has grown up in Hollywood. He's young, rich and extremely famous. Everything he wants, he gets. Except Emma. Emma makes him work, and makes him question everything about himself in the process.

Then there's Graham. Graham is an indie actor who only agreed to do the movie as a support system for his friend Brooke, who used to date Reid. Graham is quiet and hardly reveals anything about himself. Also, is he with Brooke, or are they really just friends? And if he's with her, why is he flirting with Emma?

I know, you're probably thinking based on the plot alone, I've read this before. And you know what? Maybe you have. But I guarantee, not like this. Tammara Webber can write. Emma was extremely believable as a girl stuck in her situation. Did she piss me off? Yes. Did I cheer for her? Yes. She was real. She didn't get to see Reid's POV like we did, so her reactions were what any girl would have done.

Now for the guys. On one hand, you have Graham. And I can see why a majority of readers fall for him. He is sweet, and attentive, and generally a good person. I fell for Graham, he was definitely swoonworthy.

Oh, Reid...But there's that other part of the time where he's lost, and broken, and completely out of depth with what he's feeling: both for Emma and for himself as well. The whole book I wanted to both hug and hit him.

I'm honestly torn as to whom I want Emma to end up with and I cannot wait to see where this series goes. (less)

Wow. I was pleasantly surprised with this book. I started reading it as part of a Rockstar/Celebrity Reading Challenge. This is not the kind of book I would normally read, but I really, really enjoyed it.

Okay! Siempre digo que me enamoro de los tipos de los libros pero este de plano me encanto.♥

This is a book that is told through the dual narrative of both Emma and Reid. I do like dual narratives due to really being able to get to know both of the main characters. Emma I really liked while Reid I wasn't so hot about though. Emma is quite naive when it comes to the film industry due to her lack of major experience but Reid is completely the opposite. He knows exactly what he's doing and how to play the people around him. He thinks he's a big hot shot and can do whatever he wants while Emma is trying to get her head around everything that is happening and how it's changing her life.

The romance in this book wasn't at all what I was expecting it to be. I was expecting for this to be quite straight forward and for it to be a bit of a chase between Reid and Emma and while it was, there was so much more going on at the same time. Fellow cast member Graham is a large part of the story but one who is never quite in the forefront of what is going on. I can't say that I was the biggest fan of Reid and Emma and their relationship. I always felt as though Emma was getting the rough end of the deal and Reid still did whatever the hell he wanted. There are also smaller plot lines regarding the romances of some of the other cast members which spiced things up a bit and broke up what was going on with Emma and Reid.

As a New Adult book, this one is extremely tame in the ways of sex scenes, which some readers will be happy to know. I, however, was quite disappointed. With this genre, I expect to get some of the stuff that isn't included in Young Adult books and considering the majority of that characters are young and pretty much living in hotel rooms without supervision, I would have thought there would be some more crazy antics and fun going on.

Although not the best New Adult book I have read, it was certainly enjoyable and the ending was fantastic. I'm glad I have the second book waiting as I think it will be a much better book than the first.(less)

Honestly when I picked up Between the Lines I had no idea what it was about. I only knew two things, A) The author Tammara Webber had written it and I quite enjoyed her as a person since we belonged to the same FB bookgroup and B) That many of my friends had read it and enjoyed it. Okay, so I have read some of Tammara Webber's books before and I quite liked them, but this one was kind of blah for me. But I liked the fact that the author made Graham and Emma get together in the end. Reid is supposed to be hot I think, but I just found him really off-putting and immature. Even though Graham was the quiet, brooding type, he was a gentleman and always stood by Brooke. But the major downside for me with regards to this book, I think, was Emma herself. I get it. She is supposed to be an inexperienced virgin and very timid and everything. But to read her think of hiding in the closet at every turn was majorly annoying for me. And the whole making out with Reid when she is obviously likes Graham more thing? Made her look like a complete ditz. I mean, how stupid would a person be if they couldn't figure out their own feelings about someone? When she finally finds out about the whole Brooke pregnancy thing and runs out of the club, that was when I gave a big sigh of relief. I was like, 'Thank God, you finally came to your senses'.

POSITIVES:
* Mature male lead for a change.
* Awesome supporting characters.
* The POV switches between Emma's and Reid's even though they don't end up together in the end. We get to know a bit about the reasons behind Reid's behaviour, but that doesn't justify his actions. He is still an asshole for what he did to Brooke, but at least, he is willing to acknowledge it in the end.
* Emma's best friend - um, I don't remember her name.

NEGATIVES:
* Emma.
* I wish there had been more about Graham.
* I wish there had been less about Reid and Emma's fling.
* The prose was kind of awkward and stilted.

Well overall, it was a nice enough book, if you have the patience and time for it.(less)

I had high hopes after seriously enjoying Tammara's novel 'Easy'; it's so gutting that this book just didn't do it for me like that one did.
I enjoyed the double viewpoint. The main character of 'Emma' felt so young, naive and a complete push over. I liked her but she really got on my nerves sometimes, she was so scared to go for anything she wanted and worse, just seemed to do what other people wanted all the time.

He needs to grow up a lot and take a good long look at his life- but I was rooting for him and Emma- I wanted him to be happy after all the shit he's obviously been through. They aren't right at the moment, but I'm sort of hoping that in a few years they'll both grow up- she'll get some balls and he'll stop lashing out when he doesn't get what he wants.
Graham was a bit of a non entity. I couldn't even picture him in my mind. I think it may be because of the name and lack of description/character growth but I couldn't stop picturing as sort of an old man... which made the ending weird I have to tell you. I just didn't get him as a character at all. I know Emma was really into him all along but I just never saw it, the character chemistry really wasn't there.
I suppose it was quite realistic. There were no magical fixes or happy endings. I did really enjoy the whole film set- young aspiring actors thing. And I really enjoyed the Pride and Prejudice in high school thing haha, made me lol.
But it just felt a little bit flat at times.
I've looked at the synopsis for the next books and I really don't think they're going in the direction I want them to so I may not read. Seeing as I don't really like Graham I don't really want to read a whole book that's basically about him and Emma..
Maybe i'll read it in the future
It's a shame. I hope Tammara keeps writing, I would read another book, but I don't think this series does it for me.(less)

My sister shoved this into my hands. I was kind of ify because I knew this had a love triangle, something I hate. But I wanted to read it because its Tammara Webber. Easy was amazing, so why not try Between the Lines? But of course its not as good as Easy, and to be honest I don't think anything else will ever be as good as Easy.

I'm sort of unsure of how I feel about this one. I LOOOVED Webber's novel, Easy. I mean, I ADORE Lucas. I've probably read it 5 times in the last 4 months. So I was kind of disappointed that I wasn't loving this like I did Easy. I think Webber is a talented story teller and this concept diet grab me right away. It sat in my unread shelf for a long time. While I really enjoyed this book, I felt like it dragged on.

The main character, Emma, recently scored the role of a life-time with attractive "it" guy, Reid, in the newest remake (with a twist) of Pride and Prejudice. Everything starts as expected in this genre, great chemistry between Lizabeth and Will (Reid) – Things, of course, get complicated when indie-actor Graham befriends Emma at the beginning of filming. Mix jealousy, awkward encounters, unexplained affections and dirty secrets...you have everything you need to create a good story...sort of.

I began feeling such a gravitation towards Emma's best friend Emily (secondary character); as Emily seems much more sure of herself, of what she wants and just enough sass to stay entertaining. [Best friend character should not steal the interest of the reader.]

I felt Emma whined a bit (mostly to Emily), about how awful it must be to be her – stuck in the middle of two terribly attractive young actors. I get it, she's almost 18, has a half-there father, grew up without her mother...but even so, as "independent" and "adult" she's supposed to be, she sucks at confrontation and making her own decisions.

As a third-party reader of the situation, Miss Emma could have avoided so much stress and wasted so much less time if she'd just grew a pair and asked straight-forward questions to both the interests in question. Is it impossible for a female lead to bluntly ask "do you like me, or not?" – apparently, it is.

As for my hesitance to the believability of the scenario... as I've never been on a film set, been in a movie, and don't know any hot, Hollywood youth...I can't question if the likelihood of unlimited resources, endless amounts of room service and cash out the ass is a possibility or not. I felt that chunks of time were skipped with "Emma was busy with school work and filming" while we honed in equally monotonous scenarios between main characters that got us nowhere. If we are going to glide over weeks at a time, when so much happened in the matter of 48 hours, we will have surely missed SOMETHING in those skipped weeks.

Needless to say, it felt like the build-up to a better story. I felt no connection to this Reid character. He was an ass, through and through. He became infatuated with Emma because she didn't give it up with the bat of his lashes...so, obviously that means he's in love with her! Whatever! Seeing as indie-star, Graham, is the obvious better choice. Hence why I am excited to continue this story with "Where You Are (Between the Lines #2)" – Graham's perspective should be easily more interesting than douche canoe Reid's.

I really don't know where to start with this review. The story was good but I can't help being torn between Reid and Graham ( I seem to always have a soft spot for the bad boy)
Anyway..... I know Emma likes Graham more which is because he kissed her first. If Graham liked her as much as he claimed he could have told her?
Now to Reid- ok he is a douche the way he uses woman but I see how he is with Emma. Not sure if it's because he wants to sleep with her and he will toss her aside when his done...more
