What should have been a night of celebrating 25 years on the job turns into one of the worst nights Luis Gonzalo has ever spent when he is called to the scene of a tragic fire. Sherri F.
#3 in Luis Gonzalo series was another enjoyable, quick-paced police procedural and an easy, quick read that piggybacks a little off #1 in series (but better than #1; not quite as good as #2). I like the geographic locale--and car chases in those hills are suspenseful for me since the only time I tried to drive them over 20 yrs ago, I didn't go more than 15 mph for fear of going over the side or into a tree or someone's house on the other side of steep, tight turns). I read most of Steven Torres police procedural novels last summer. They are good tales as far as they go, and his main character, Luis Gonzalo, is portrayed as a competent, likable chap (perhaps an anomaly as for a Puerto Rican police officer). I was particularly interested in the setting of each or the stories--a ficticious small town out on the island. Bottom line: competent, police procedurals made more interesting by the setting.

Sadly on April 14th my book accidentally fell into a pond while I was fishing with my fiance and I can no longer read it unless I grab a copy from the library :(

Not as good as Book Two, but maybe it was just my mood at the time. I still couldn't put it down.
