The Last Soul was a great paranormal romance read. The heroine is a demon assigned to collect human souls. When she's given the chance at freedom from Hell after one last assignment, she's eager to make it work. The problem—Jace isn't a bad man and doesn't deserve to sign his soul over to the darker powers. The sexy, seductive demoness rocks Jace's world, but we soon learn she's not cold as stone.

This was an interesting book :)
We start off with Faina, she... works for demons - but in a way she's a demon, too - she was killed in a fire 150 years ago while working for Madam Lacey after her parents died and she had no other option for work.
Mastema was her boss - he was in charge of the souls she brought to him. And she was very turned on with each soul she brought him. not because she was evil or anything, but because it meant she was that much closer to fulfilling her quota so to speak s...more

After purchasing Hunted from Evernight and discovering it was the sequel to The Last Soul, my read-in-order obsession compelled me to add the latter to my shopping cart.
After importing both books into my Calibre database, I was delighted to find, among the metadata for The Last Soul, an informative and fascinating author's description of the genesis of the two books. As a reader, I find such revelations the most pleasing gift an author can present her fans, not the guest blogs, giveaways and cha...more

Carolyn has an enviable writing style which is straight to the bull’s-eye. No superfluous nattering for her. In The Last Soul, I was plunged headlong into the action with heroine Faina (who’s been dead for 150 years) being bullied by her demon “boss” Mastema – a hideous creature you never wish to meet. Faina’s “job” is to seduce evil humans into signing their souls away and she’s very proficient at her job. This will be her last assignment, after which she’ll be made human again which is her dea...more
This was my last sneak read on the iPhone while pretending to be busy at work. Let's just say if you knew where I work, I'm in IT at a Christian Publishinghouse, you would find that extra amusing. I read the whole story on a slow Friday afternoon.
The best word to describe this story is HOT. You've got a sexy demon assigned to seduce what might be one of the few last really decent guys left on the face of the earth. Just another day at the job for Faina, until she winds up falling for Jace. You'...more

Summary: Faina has a mission....just one last soul and Mastema will finally fulfill the contract and send her back to the human realm. The only problem is she doesnt understand what Hell wants with Jace. On all accounts he is kind, always helping others, and an all around nice guy. He also just happens to be gorgeous, sexy, and extremely good in bed. Jace has never met anyone quite like Faina. She matches his needs in the bedroom as well. Though he sometimes finds her elusive on providing answers...more

VOTED MAYS BOOK OF THE MONTH!!
TBR Reviewer: Nat
The relationship between Jace and Faina was passionate with more than enough chemistry going on. The sex scenes between them are intensely sexy and hot but never too graphic. These two souls make an incredible match. The author doesn't overload the reader with scenery descriptions, keeping the focus on the emotional aspect of the characters and the conflict between the hero and heroine. I would've liked very much to know more...more

The Last Soul is a great read with all the guilty goodness of burning, explicitly hot sex thrown in for good measure. To view this review in its entirety, please visit http://thereadersroundtable.com/eroti...
