Sometimes Love Hurts

For years David's abusive father taught him that women were merely toys designed to be discarded after use. What will happen when he meets Katlyn, a stunning submissive who is his intellectual equal, emotional savior, and so much more than a plaything?

Told in two parallel time lines, we witness the devastating effects of domestic abuse and the slow proc...more

"When I was little, my mom used to tell me that I would someday meet a girl who would get stuck in my head and wouldn’t get out. She told me that this girl’s voice would become the voice of my conscience. You are the voice inside my head, Kat, and I can’t deny that any longer."

If I say This is a beautiful story of love and holding to each other amidst the trauma of an abusive life many readers will raise their eyebrows.Well I hope not=)

Its more difficult to read the actual abuse than a person who talks about his abusive past. Its just harsh. This is not for the faint of heart...the first scene was horrible I keep on cringing. Yes!a taste of the dark side.
I hate David's father.arghh he's a Monster!he abuse his wife,...more

This book is unlike anything I've ever read before. Maybe because I haven't read too many bdsm novels before or because I've only read the "good" side of bdsm. Well, this was the "good" and the "bad" side of bdsm and I was captivated by it.

I'm not sure why either. At first, I thought the heroine (Kat) was a very damaged woman. I was wrong. I didn't understand at all why she wanted love the way she did. The more I read the more I understood her and what...more

This is definitely a read that leans toward the dark-side and is not for the feint of heart. I am all for the brooding male Dom, but I will have to admit, this one was a little tough for me at times. The secondary male character, the father, was an abusive asshole and reading about his overbearing. psycho ways made me cringe. On the other had, I really enjoyed the main H/h story line and how they prevailed in the most dire of circumstances.

GENERATIONAL SINS is an emotional story that addresses...more

I am going to use a word that may confuse you in regards to this book. I seriously think this may be the most romantic book I have read. Now I do not mean that in the traditional sense; let me explain. To me romance is no...more

I have just finished this intense book after not being able to put it down for the last 24 hours. Wow! All I can say is this was an extremely intense, emotional roller coaster ride to read. I really did enjoy it, even though at times the dysfunction in David's family turned my stomach. The loving relationship between David and Katlyn made up for the abusive parts with his father. Although, I would have to say that David and Kat did have what most would consider an unhealthy relationship. It was...more

I wanted this more than anything I had ever wanted, and I was positive that I was going to screw it up.

After being raised by an abusive father, physically abusive to him and sexually and physically abusive to his mother, David Paulson was sure that he could never bring someone more than a one night stand into his life or into his family...until he meets Katlyn. In Generational Sins, Samantha Blair tells the happy and tumultuous side of loving David - a young man who is broken by the sins of hi...more

What can I say? I'm not sure I would have finished this book had it not been for my almost OCD tendencies in finishing what I start. I found the back and forth between point of views as well as past and present exhausting. Yes, I think the past story was important to tell but it could've been written better. It felt more like the constant back and forth of a tennis match. I was disgusted with Richard. I was disgusted with Kats acceptance with how Richard treated her. David at times seemed to muc...more

Wow! For only .99, it doesn't get much better (or hotter)! Granted, this is fairly dark, and explores the world of BDSM, but not what I would ever consider hard-core. Of course, my husband tells me that I have now become jaded. Ha! Yes, there is rape. I will warn you now. No, I do not like to read about someone being raped. The scene (you keep reading reviews about) was integral to the storyline. You had to feel the depravity of the father-in-law to truly grasp the overall development of all the...more

This book seems to have been compared to 50 Shades of Grey.

It was not and if 50 shades was your introduction to BDSM be prepared to read a very different take on in Generational Sins.

Generational Sins deals with an experienced submissive who is unable to process emotional pain without physical pain (sometimes extreme)
So this is not for the average BDSM reader. It deals with a very different type of dominance, family violence, sexual abuse, and a wealth of other emotions. It is also a story of ho...more

just finished reading this book and this is the first time reviewing a book as well.

one word that this book left me: SPEECHLESS (okay another word: UNCOMFORTABLE)
i really wish i read more of the reviews so i knew that this book contained sexual violence, i only thought it was physical violence which i can handle. However, sexual violence was a whole new level for me which i found out i can't handle at all.

The events in this book left me feeling shaken and uncomfortable. I didn't expect it to me...more

*Slight Spoilers*

First chapter is WTF just happened?! I laughed cause I couldn't believe I just read that even though there's nothing funny about it. This was a very disturbing book from the beginning until something BIG happens.

You have David Paulson. From the beginning you see the way he treats women when having sex with them cause of the way his father raised him to think of women. Yeesh! I never wanted to slap the living shiite out of someone the way I wanted to do to his Dad. ASSHOLE! HUGE...more

WOW! JUST WOW! WHEW! WHAT A GREAT BOOK! I LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS BOOK, STARTING WITH THE COVER AND THE STORY INSIDE, WHAT A BEAUTIFUL AND HORRIBLE STORY. I GUESS YOU WONDER HOW COULD IT BE BOTH OF THOSE THINGS? BECAUSE IT JUST IS. THIS IS A VERY DIFFERENT KIND OF STORYLINE THOUGH HORRIBLE IT IS WRITTEN SO WELL. ONCE AGAIN THE REASON PEOPLE ARE SO SCREWED UP, BAD PARENTING. I GUESS IT EXPLAINS WHY MOST PEOPLE TODAY ARE SOOOO VERY CLUCKED-UP. THE LACK OF PARENTAL SKILLS HAS PRETTY MUCH KILLED...more

This book showed the difference what a healthy D/s relationship could be and what a completely abusive relationship is. There is a difference "consent" is key.

I agree with many of the other reviews that this book isn't a romance, it was to disturbing to be a romance.

Even though David the hero started off as a Dom his was to emotionally abused by his father to really ever be a complete one. Every time Richard (the father) was brought into a scene I like others who read this cringed. He was an ev...more

*Disclaimer in the beginning of this book states "Please read with caution. This book contains very adult situations and is not suitable reading for those under the age of eighteen."

After reading the very first line on the very first page I was shocked and intrigued. And so I began diving into the world of David and Katlyn, the hardcore sub/dom relationship and how it all began. Samantha Blair weaves their story through the past and the present, switching it up from chapter to chapter. She reall...more

I would give this 3-1/2 stars but since that isn't an option I felt I should round up rather than down.

This is the first time I've read this author and found it as a recommendation on my Amazon Kindle home page. This was a really good read - especially since it was only $.99. I plan to check out some of her other books as well.

The basic story is focused on one couple (David and Katlyn) as they work their way through building a relationship when David's father has raised him to see women as lesse...more

Generational Sins is not your traditional BDSM story. It may content various truly hot scenes but main feature of this story was definitely original and interesting plot. Generational Sins is also a story of true and strong love. Love that changes you, love that makes you better and love that fulfils you. But Generational Sins is not just "hearts and flowers" kind of story. There are some dark and disturbing situations present too, so be warned.

The idea of having experienced sub (Kat) who intro...more

I felt challenged and uncomfortable at times with this story but, abuse should challenge and make us feel uncomfortable. If you can get past the first chapter you will be rewarded with a story that will touch you.
David is a victim trying to find his voice. David is a Dom trying to find control. David is a husband trying to protect his wife. David is a man over coming his childhood. David is a man trying to find emotional stability. In David we see a vulnerability, a brokenness that we don't ofte...more

This isn't a romance. Hero isn't a Dom, he's afraid of his daddy, and instead of kicking dads ass, he does whatever daddy says, up to and including degrading his wife and his mother at the same time. Mom is also an abused doormat. If the author ever gave enough rationale for the characters to take the abuse instead of leaving, then it must have happened at the end of the book. I stooped reading 3/4ths of the way in because I just COULD NOT understand a mother that would allow their child to be b...more

I was really surprised by how much I ended up enjoying this book. At the beginning it was REALLY hard to get into...I mean, it starts off very startlingly and it was kind of uncomfortable. But sticking with it, it was a lot deeper then I was expecting. I guess I was expecting more standard erotica, but there was a lot to it. From getting a strange insight to a very different kind of abuse that David and his mother endured...I say different b/c it was just so detailed in some ways, and you could...more

I would recommend this book with some caveats. First, the opening scene is unsavory and I thought completely unnecessary. The story is told in alternating first person. I wish that there were headings to denote the POV switch. I never really bought into David as a Dom but I thought the idea and exploration of BDSM from the reluctant DOM point of view was really interesting. David was turned on by this, but his father was very abusive. David had to learn about what being a true DOM was. He had a...more

This book is not for everyone. The first chapter alone will have readers closing it up and never opening again. The plot centers around David and Kat, a couple that met in college, became best friends, and then fell in love. Kat brought David out of the dark that he was raised in, and together they were out to conquer the hate that was his father. David grew up surrounded by abuse and knew nothing else. Women were 2nd class in his Father's eyes. His mother, a victim to horrible actions in that h...more

This book had a hard start and it definitely didn't leave the reader in any doubt of what they were getting into. Not for the lighthearted or squeamish.
I also found the time lines hard to follow and got a bit lost at times.
Having said all that it did grab my attention and I wanted to know where it was heading, i even cheered at one point (you'll understand if you read it).

This book was not at all what I expected...it was much deeper. Ms. Blair did a fabulous job of contrasting the differences between a true BDSM lifestyle vs. abuse. Even a vanilla person like me was able to understand Kat's need for her Dom and how he grounded her. I think what struck me about the book is that most of us have scars our parents may have left (hopefully not as deep as the scars David bore) and there are times we look in the mirror and see that same behavior in ourselves no matter h...more

This is a very dark book and I would recommend anyone reading it to go into it with caution. This book deals with abuse. Extreme abuse, mentally and physically and sexually. This book also includes a heart breaking rape scene. It also has a very beautiful love story that emerges from all of the ugly vile abuse it focuses on.

David is the only child of Dr. Richard and Ellen Paulson. Davis was groomed by his father to have absolutely no regard for a woman. A woman is to be degraded and is put here...more

This book started off with a bang, letting me know right away that this author wasn't going to pull any punches. All through the first few lines, pages and chapters, I had the feeling that this would be a great book. I tried to hold back my expectations, but it just didn't work. Thank goodness this book turned out to be amazing.

I wish I could give more stars, but I just didn't really enjoy this book for a few reasons. First of all, I found the shifting of time and narrator to be so confusing. If it was one or the other I would have been ok, but to follow past or present, her or him was too much.

Also, I like my men to be strong Alphas. I found this guy to be a wimp. He couldn't stand up to his daddy for anyone. Eeew. Next, they barely went into her history (I just finished and forgot her name), and why she NEEDED the B...more

There are over 100 reviews up so here's a quick one. It was a very good book, extremely emotional and fk**** up. However, I didn't understand the logic behind the actions of the male character and I really didn't get his "plan". IMO actions and decisions were not justified against the seriousness of the situation.

It's a 4.5 stars. So so so good! Not 5 stars because of the ending. :)

The author used a very unique way of writing. Each chapter had a different POV (the male and female leads) and it also switched between present and past. It usually ended the chapters with something major and we had to wait 2 chapters to know what would be next. I really enjoyed the back and forth.

I've never wrote a review quite like this one, but I have so many clips and notes from this book that I will write my review using...more
