I saw the high average rating and read the blurb. Well, hell, it seems opinions tend to differ sharply. I thought the premise for this sounded really good. Too bad it fell flat and I was bored out of my mind! What didn’t work for me:

- The story was boring…boring…boring
- For the first third of the book there was no relationship development between Xavier and Becca NONE.AT.ALL. There was Dev here…and Dev there…and Dev everywhere. Always Devdan Rossi. Well, I think the title is “Xavier’s Loving Arm...more

ARC Review of Xavier's Loving Arms by KT Grant

This story looked appealing to me for a couple of reasons....1.) a multi-cultural couple (I'm part of a multi-cultural couple) and 2.) Xavier has a goatee (I like goatees). Anyway, I really had no idea what this book was about when I started reading it. In fact, I wasn't exactly sure who the hero was supposed to be. We are introduced to Dev, who kept wavering back and forth between being a good guy and a douche. I wasn't sure if he was going to end u...more

This book was a refreshing love story. I usually do not read romance novels because I do not like when a female swoons over a guy that she feels she can’t have (which happens to be most of the romance novels I read). KT Grant’s characters are real, and act the way I would imagine people would.

Before work every day, Xavier visits the coffee shop across the street from where he works to see the cute woman that works t...more

"4.5 stars" Xavier's Loving Arms is a tender, emotional romance about a young woman who is trying her best to recover from an eating disorder, but at the same time, the rest of her world seems to be crumbling around her. Luckily, she finds unconditional love in the arms of a wonderful man right when she needs it most. KT Grant confesses in her author's note at the end of the book that she herself has battled an eating disorder, and in my opinion, her first-hand knowledge...more

Xavier’s Loving Arms by KT Grant is a great contemporary interracial romance with a well written story and very likeable characters. Noteworthy are the many relevant issues the story features such as bulimia and its long term effects and the crippling effects of debt. I’m sure many readers can relate to Rebecca’s character because of not just her medical but her financial issues as well. Through all her problems Rebecca remains optimistic and refuses to compromise her beliefs. She won’t take a h...more
4 1/2 stars really :)

When I began this book, I didn’t know what to expect. Yes, I’d read the blurb, but never having read any of Ms Grant’s work, I couldn’t quite fathom what I was in for. What I got was a very sweet, steamy romance which made me smile. I knew I was in trouble when I cried at the dedication. Those few sentences, written to someone completely unknown to me, made me realise that these characters were going to make me feel.

Becca’s life is completely out of her control. Her house is...more

Well, I have to hand it to Grant. The author has balls of steel and isn't afraid to write the unconventional.

***3.5 out of 5 stars***

I’ve wanted more of Xavier’s since he first appeared in The Claiming of Suzy, and the author was kind enough to send me a copy of Xavier’s Loving Arms for review. Xavier stole a little bit of my heart from the moment I met him. I like that he didn’t seem to judge others based on their appearances, but on their actions. Xavier hasn’t been very lucky in love in the past. First he catches his fiancée with another man and just when he thinks things will work out with Suzy, sh...more

Review: Wow. Just…wow. I read this cover to cover in just a few hours. Well…maybe more than a few--I just don't want to dwell on all the stuff I didn't get done tonight because I couldn't put it down.

I've read several books dealing with weight issues, and they always seemed a bit off and inconsistent with reality. KT Grant dug to the heart of the struggles people face when they have body image or eating probl...more

I’ve been a fan of Ms. Grant’s blog for a while now so when I got the opportunity to read one of her books I jumped right into it (and it didn’t hurt that the blurb sounded like it was right up my alley).

Rebecca’s life is in shambles. Her grandmother has dementia, she works two crappy jobs in order to save her house, her ex-boyfriend is pestering and harassing her and she’s recovering from an eating disorder that almost killed her. She has good days...more

First Thought when I Finished: Xavier was everything I thought he would be!

What I Loved: Again KT has written extremely real characters. In Xavier's Loving Arms, I loved both Becca and Xavier. I thought they were both real, down to earth, and perfectly fitted for each other. Becca had some very real issues to deal with and they will effect her for the rest of her life. Xavier was just the man for her.

This is my first KT Grant book and I am wowed! Grant describes her writing as “out of the box” yet I found XAVIER’S LOVING ARMS to be very relevant – multicultural couple, financial concerns, and emotional issues that spill into physical manifestations. Grant delivers a story that to which readers can relate; characters for whom they want to cheer; and a romance that oozes sensuality.

I follow Grant’s review blog and I’ve met Grant at the RWA National Convention. She’s the real deal – cheering o...more
I was really pleased with this story. It was a little slow starting; I felt like the first five chapters could've been condensed. That said, I liked the characters and the story line. It was an enjoyable, easy read. I also liked the way her eating disorder was handled - complex.
