Nate Wilson has spent the last thirteen years denying the feelings he has for his best friend, Emi Hennigan. He bides his time with other women as Emi searches fruitlessly for the love-at-first-sight fantasy that’s eluded her since college.

When Nate confesses his feelings for Emi, she is torn between her idealistic (and seemingly unrealistic) search and the more-than-frien...more

I am still debating with myself for the stars....It is well worth 5stars....but...it broke my heart and I am kind of hurting right now...

I am actually re-reading it....I am supposed to be studying today but after finishing the third book I felt the need to start over...I need to be around Nate as more as possible, she made it,she moved on but I can't...

"Love ya Nate"
"Love ya Emi"

OMG WTF did I just read...I am at a loss for words!!! I literally slept 2 hours because of this book. I got through pretty much 70% of it before I had to take a break from reading...I could tell something was going to happen. It was such a sweet, sad, wonderful, romantic story with so many ups and downs. I honestly wanted to shake Emi and Nate at some points and tell them to wake up!!! I couldn't believe that they couldn't see it. I don't care if Emi thinks this guy she kissed once is "the one."...more

I had this book on my Kindle for several months. I decided to read it and now I am wondering what took me so long to start it. It was such an awesome book. I am so glad I gave it a chance! I can't wait to read book 2 and 3!!!

This is a good book with very likable main characters. I loved the relationship between Nate and Emi. I was cheering for them and hoping everything would work out for them throughout the book. Once you read the first book, you'll have no choice but to keep on reading. The end made me worry greatly for one of the main characters, and I had a suspicion the result would sadden me. The description for book 2 made it obvious that it would. Grr. Jack better be worth it!

Incredible book and story! This is the first in a series of three. This book explores Nate and Emi's friendship that began in childhood and has continued into adulthood. The author does a great job of telling their story through the everyday life experiences of friends, families, lovers, marriage, while making it so real that you feel you could be in the book, friends with the characters. Without giving anything away....you will love their story! You will rush out to get number 2 and 3.....I pro...more

I have to be honest Nate didn't won me right away. I am so glad I got to see his point of view because he made me mad many times. But then he started talking about Emi... oh boy! Who wouldn't want to be loved like that?

This is a very intense story and the characters are great. A must read for those who love romance.

My second reading of this book did not diminish the story at all. It was as good as I'd remembered it, with the humanity of the characters thoroughly intact, flaws and all. This is one of the main reasons I love this story and these books. The characters are far from perfect, and their insecurities and bad decisions are frequently shown.

I did find myself concentrating much more on Nate's character and story, knowing how this plays out in Book Two. I don't love him any less as a result of the scr...more

Nate Wilson is a spoiled, rich, artsy, playboy who has always gotten what he wanted. Everything but the one girl he’s in love with, his best friend, Emi Hennigan. They’ve been best friends since high school. Nate is an accomplished artist and a musician. Emi inspires him to write and paint like no one else ever has. She seems to bring out the best in him even though she has never wanted anything more than friendship. Trying to get over Emi, Nate tries to fill the empty spot in his heart with oth...more

If you’re a fan of sexy romance stories, but a certain popular trilogy is a bit too intense and graphic for your taste, a perfect antidote is the Emi Lost & Found Series, by Lori L. Otto. If you did read and enjoy the aforementioned trilogy, you would probably also like this one. Just know that it doesn’t get nearly as hot and heavy, and it also chronicles a much gentler story, without the prevalent element of violence.

The first book in the series, Lost and Found, introduces us to the main c...more

This book was free on Amazaon/Kindle and it's probably the best purchase I've made all year when it comes to a book. I was very much against buying the Kindle, but it earned its worth with Lori Otto's books. The characters were so real that I couldn't put this book down. The range of emotions that people go through when they are dealing with change was so evident. It was a pleasant surprise when I realized the book was a series, but when I started reading the second book I was so brokenhearted a...more

This book was agonizing for me to read. I wanted to scan myself into my computer, search out the Kindle app, and beat the crap out of the narrator, Nate, for being an idiot. For more than a decade, he's been in love with his best friend, Emi. He knows she feels strongly for him, too, but they are both afraid to risk their friendship by taking the next step.

So Nate dates a series of disposable girlfriends, up to Kiersten, a successful, strong attorney, whose only real requirement of Nate is that...more

Of course I loved this book! It's told from the viewpoint of Nate and his longtime friendship with Emi. After 13 years Emi finally realizes that she is in love with Nate. Of course Nate has loved her all along. There are ups and downs and romance and heartbreak, but in the end Emi and Nate find their happy ending...or so I thought. BOO-HOO

WTF?!? Is this a new trend in books these days? It better *not* become one! This was a FANTASTIC story right up until the end, and I CAN'T EVEN TELL YOU WHAT HAPPENED because it's a big @ss spoiler!!! It's not that it's a cliffhanger ending, either. Well, it is, but I have all three books. But....but....WHY?!?! Why, Lori L. Otto, would you do this to me? To them?!?! TO NATE?!?!! Gah!!!!

I ran to start book two, hoping against hope that I was wrong, and the author nearly gave me heart failure at...more

WHAT JUST HAPPENED?!

(view spoiler)[Where do I begin? This book was super emotional. Its about two best friends, Nate and Emi, and their journey to finding their HEA with each other...or so was it??

Aside from the first chapter, the book was written all in Nate's perspective. He's been best friends with Emi for the past thirteen years. Of course, both deny their true feelings for each other for their own personal reasons. Nate's reason: He feels that he isn't worthy of Emi. Emi's reason: She simpl

Didn't think I'd like this - I was VERY wrong!!!!

I've had this book downloaded for a while but stupidly the cover put me off, lesson learnt - DO NOT judge a book by its cover!!!!
I was drawn in immediately, I love a guy/girl friendship, who's the author trying to kid, you know they'll end up together - well not in this book - Nate and Emi are individually nightmares, there are so many twists and turns in their story, at times I felt sick, I've told the author that I think she part sadist, so many...more

I fell in love with this book immediately! I am an avid fan of VC Andrews and Nora Roberts and I don't normally steer to far away. But this author Lori Otto did such a great job on this book that it made me love reading again and I have reached way out of my comfort zone. I highly recommend this book as a must read. And 2 & 3 are only better!

to be honest I'd expected way more than this.
I found the book a bit boring...I didnt really feel their love..especially not from emi's side. It was obvious from the start..that the special kiss she had that one night was not Nate's kiss..so I assumed sooner or later there would be another man in this story..Not in this book though..
I found him a passionate (in emotions, arts etc) man..but very boring and selfish in the making love department...

The writing was absolutely good..very realistic..I l...more

I just finished the first book! For the last 24 hours I have been wrapped up in Nate & Emi and all the events (Nate's women - haha) that finally lead them to really be with each other. Only to I read the preview and comments about book 2.....I am not sure I can bring myself to read it, knowing what happens to Nate. I don't think I can deal with it, each time I am ready download book 2, I feel my chest tighten! This is the third book in the last week that I have read where boy meets girl, the...more

Arrgggghhhh..... This book frustrated me to the very end and beyond. You know that feeling when you reading a book...that " I am not going to like what happens next" feeling? Yeah, that one. Well this book is full of them. And you CAN'T STOP READING. Emily and Nate keep circling each other, hurting each other. Then when things are going well....they do it again. I knew at about 97% that the author was going to a screw with my head AGAIN. I could just feel it coming on. Now I have to get the seco...more

I don't know where to start. Probably need to start by saying that I will send Lori Otto my therapy bill! Every emotion you can imagine, I have gone through...I honestly have not read a book this year, and I have read alot, that had me completely living the story right along with the characters of NaTE and Emi like Ms Otto did. Her writing is unbelievably beautiful, raw, and absolutely heartbreaking...I am on book 2 and will review it as soon as I can physically recover from my breakdown enough...more

It took me a few chapters to get into the story but when i did...I was hooked! i fell in love with Nate and just went through all his emotions in the book. I could totally understand him. and just my connection with him was bigger tham with Emi, i could not and will not undertand the ending. it is not FAIR!!! after investing my time and emotions and when there is a promise of a happy then it is just YANK away...((sniff sniff)). i judt can not continue the series, i want NATE back!!! Only reason...more

I loved it. The characters are people you really become invested in. You root for them and get aggravated with them and make them your own. The entire trilogy is a must read since Lost and Found is just not enough. The pace is just right - not too fast and not too slow, which is important in a story that spans three books. Needing more, it's great to be able to move on to "Never Look Back" and "Time Stands Still". The author made a great move here to use multiple volumes to tell the whole story...more

Wow!
When I first started this book I wasnt sure whether I was going to like it or not as it is completely different to the styles I usually read, though it came well recommended! I debated on whether to give it four or five stars as it does deserve five stars but it did take me a while to get into it which lowered the star rating slightly, though by the end...wow! I read the book in two parts, not wanting to put it down though needing sleep especially with a young daughter tiring me out! It is...more

Wow. This book was so much more than I expected. I absolutely loved it and I immediately bought the next two books as soon as I finished it. I was a little irritated with Emi and how she kept playing with Nate's emotions throughout the book.

And I loved Nate. He seemed like such a great guy. I'm kind of scared to read the next two books because I have a feeling about what happens and it makes me sad :(

I thought the writing was amazing and it was hard to put the book down. Looking forward to enjoy...more

This is about best friends and the possibility and roadblocks of becoming more. I like the fact that you get to know these people and that they are interesting and not perfect. You can see the characters identify what they don't like about themselves and try become better people and grow.

There are some descriptive sex scenes so, this is really for a a "R" audience. The characters really didn't seem to be in their late 20's... I mentally knocked them into their early 20's say just out of college...more

After graduating from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1997 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Lori Otto worked in the billboard industry for ten years. Frustrated with trying to communicate entire messages in “seven seconds or less,” she decided to leave outdoor advertising and return to her love of creative writing.
