Ugh, did I have a hard time with this. Here's why:

Chapter 1
Maria Roth smirked at the shy girl
Chapter 2
There he was, smirking over at her
Noah had smirked at her, a wicked angel smile
Then smirking when they were caught
Mischievous smirk that made him smile
Chapter 3
She shivered and he smirked
Chapter 4
Eden glanced up and smirked at Noah
He smirked “Of course.”
Chapter 5
Door close slowly behind her, smirking
Chapter 6
She smirked at him deliberately
Lucy with a cruel smirk
Chapter 7
No one smirked for a whol...more

With my fail streak up to 6, my hopes were gone. My mood is purely YA PNR lately so here I was just browsing Goodreads for something good (since I’m bored of my to-read shelf) and I stumbled upon Blood Will Tell. Since the cover model (the dude one, not this edition’s one – duh – I’ll attach it at the end) is super-hot (BOOO Existence) I felt compelled AGAIN to read it. The title seemed good enough but the series.. Warriors of Ankh?? Really? ...

YA Paranormal Romance (16 up)

“It was a house of horrors. And she was part of it.”

To Eden Winslow her family, and their kind they are “Blessed”. To the Neith and Ankh Warriors that hunt them, they are “Soul Eaters”.

Eden Winslow is 17 and on the cusp of coming of age, but her life has never been normal. After seeing the terror that goes on in the basement of her home when she was only a child, Eden has feared what she would become once she was awakened. Eden is a loner, and her brother Stellan ha...more

I can't believe I am the only one who is going to write a negative review about this book.

There were a lot of those little things that got on my nerves. This girl (her name is Eden BTW. Ugh! These authors choose 'unique' names to make the girl special) is a typical loner and has only one friend who happens to be be also a loner and surprise, surprise,a hot dude. She also has a family that pressures her to become this Blessed paranormal thing that sucks souls and she doesn't want to. She also has...more

First, I finished this book with contented sigh.. It was just a very fulfilling book..

Blood Will Tell is about an eighteen year old girl, who is also a soul eater. Her hunger started to get intense in time for her Awakening Ceremony. During that ceremony she had to take a soul so she won't die, which is a choice Eden is struggling with. The story gets more complicated as secrets unfold.

I'm new to Samantha Young books and I was a bit skeptical about how good they were. But after I saw that most o...more

Warning for those expecting a normal YA paranormal romance. This is very dark with a lot of extremely violent and disturbing scenes. The stuff of nightmares. Its still YA but I wouldnt recommend it for those too young, or those with week stomachs.

Eden is a supernatural being called Blessed. They have extremely dark impulses. Extremely dark. She has grown up to the sounds of screams coming from the basement of her family home her whole life. Now that she is starting to get the urges too she is fi...more

Wow!! Blood Will Tell was Amazing!! I'm a big fan of Samantha Young and I was anxiously awaiting the first book in this series and it did not disappoint. I fell in love with Eden right away she is Bad Ass and I can't wait to see what happens to her next. This book for me gets 5 Massive Stars it's so action packed and the story is Awesome. Also there's even an evil teenage girl named Maria in it Woop Woop and it's set in Michigan shout out to Detroit!! Can't wait till August:))

Samantha is an amazing world-builder, and this series is no exception. I love the unique storyline, and Eden is a girl I can relate to. Plus, Noah? Super-dreamy, but not perfect.... Just like I like them.

THAT'S HOW AWESOMMMEE IT WAS !!!

DAMN! And thinking about how I was about to give up on this one makes me want to suck-out ROMANNY'S soul!

As, I was saying, I was about to end this novel thinking that this is just another one of those disappointing paranormal romance in which the authors think that they could just threw a very BELLA-like kind of girl, partnered with a gorgeous KNIGHT (or a FAIRY, you know what I mean), a very OH-sooo common plot and expect teenagers like us to dig it up. HELLO ! I...more

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!!!
Totally amazing and I could NOT put it down! Blood Will Tell is a book that grabs your attention from the first page and keeps pulling you in all the way til the very end. There was never a dull moment and all I can think about is that I need to finish this and get started on book 2.

The world that Samantha Young has introduced us to here is so unique and refreshing when the majority of the time I reading about vamps and shifters. But, the world of Ankh warriors and Soul-...more

After reading Tales of Lunarmorte series and On the Dublin Street, I was ready for more and I wasn't at all disappointed. This book rocked like any other book of hers and I loved it. I love the cover of this book.

In this Eden or Paradise is a soul eater who has to kill somebody to become a full soul eater and she is reluctant to do it. She has a humanity which her family lacks. She is terrified by what she has to do to survive. She feels the need, the hunger for soul but with so much will power...more

I downloaded this book for free on Amazon (thank you again AH for posting that). I’m not going to break it down with Wins and Loses, because it’s not worth it.

This was a decent book for free. I would have been upset if I paid for it. The concept and characters were interesting. I actually really liked both. The plot moved well enough, but ended abruptly. I believe it ended somewhere around the second rising action (I came to that conclusion by reading the first chapter of the second book which i...more

Blood Will Tell
(Warriors of Ankh, Book #1)
by Samantha Young

Genre: Young Adult | Dark Fantasy

Eden is a Soul Eater. While that hasn’t meant much to her in the past, she’s pretty sure any minute now she’s going to go all "Carrie" on her eleventh grade class.

Noah is an Ankh. As an immortal Warrior, his purpose in life is to hunt down and kill Soul Eaters.

Eden is Noah’s next assignment. Problem is… this is an assignment with a difference. Eden’s not your average, run of the mill, Soul Eater. Noah’s j...more

When I read Moon Spell by Samantha Young, I immediately became enthralled in her ability to create such a wellthought out world with characters that are easy to connect to and, of course, her great writing. So, I decided that I’d read the first book in another of her series, Blood Will Tell, and let me tell you, it was awesome.

Blood Will Tell is spilling over with mythology that derives its source from the Egyptian myths, something you don’t read about often in YA. I loved the mythology about th...more

I decided to give this a try for a number of reasons.

One being I loved On Dublin Street and two being I love YA supernatural stories, so I thought this has to be win win.

And I wasn't far wrong.

I liked the concept of the girl who has supernatural powers technically being the "bad guy".

This really is a set up for things to come and I have a feeling that a lot of the characters we have met even briefly are going to be coming back to bite our main characters in the ass.

I will definitely be continuin...more

This was such an incredible book.

It was so much darker than I had expected and the storyline was amazing.

Eden is a fantastic character and I loved that she's not all cute and innocent. I like that she's abrasive and mean. Lol.

I felt so many different emotions whilst reading this book, sometimes I was a little creeped out and other times I was beyond shocked and horrified.
This book kept my interest with every single page and I cannot wait to read the next in the series.

Blood Will Tell is the latest novel of Samantha Young’s that I’ve downloaded and she doesn’t disappoint. The first novel in the Warriors of Ankh series is told from two perspectives – Eden, the soul eater, and Noah the Ankh Warrior who is supposed to hunt souls. However, Eden is a different and Noah has been sent in to determine if she’s different enough to save. I loved the character of Eden, she’s quite a contrast to other heroines in the genre. She’s really quite snarky and wicked sometimes b...more

Blood Will Tell is a great start to Samantha young new YA series. I loved that it's about soul eaters so it's just not your same out YA subject to read about. Eden is a kiss ass character which I loved read about and Noah just makes me swoon so much. The only reason this isn't a 5 star rating is because I just wanted Eden and Noah to get together and it never got any where close I'm putting all my hopes in to book two for them. I can't wait to read more of Eden's story and see where i...more

I've read several books by Samantha Young and have become a fan; so, I cannot begin to tell you how disappointed I was with "Blood Will Tell." When I purchased this book, I did not think twice, not only did I purchase book one, I also purchased the second book. Boy, do I regret that rash decision.

First, let me be totally honest, I did not finish this book. The subject matter was just too disburbing and distasteful to me. While Ms. Young has written a warning stating this book is suitable for old...more

I'm a big fan of Samantha Young's work, so I was really excited to start this series even before I'd heard great things about it. Blood Will Tell pulls no punches, with a gritty storyline, a heroine fighting a gruesome and disheartening fate, and a war between good and evil that is sure to get nasty! I loved Eden, she was strong, spunky, and determined to live by her own will versus what her family was pushing her to do. Her family members, all "Blessed" soul-eaters, varied from morally inept to...more

That was a very different book! It was so different that at first I didn’t know how to rate it. When I read the first chapter I was kind of “OMG, what I’m reading?!” but after a while I was kind of “OMG! This is awesome!”. So, I thought that 4 stars for the first book of a series is a very nice start!

Dark and seriously twisted, this story is about a young girl, Eden, who lives with a very perverse family (except her brother). They are soul eaters and they are hurting innocent people. What I mean...more

That was definitely the creepiest book I have ever read. Talk about a dysfunctional family. And soul eaters are really creepy. You know how in Harry Potter there are dementors that suck souls out of people? Well I never really thought that the dementors where that frightening, but after reading this book about soul eaters I now know how creepy the dementors were supposed to be. Next time I read Harry Potter I'll just use my horror of Young's soul eaters in relation to the dementors to get the fu...more

Okay, so this book has become my new obsession. This review is going to be short and simple, I loved it! Every single minute of it! I've never read anything like it and I promise you that you won't find another book similar to this one. It's so original with strong characters and a great story! There are some parts of the story though that isn’t suitable for teens, so I would say that this is definitely for the ages of eighteen and over.

Samantha Young touches some very raw and rough subjects in...more

This is the first book in the Warriors of Ankh series by Samantha Young and it doesn't disappoint at all! It is told in the two perspectives of Eden, the Blessed or the soul eater, and Noah, the Ankh warrior. I used to hate books that were told from multiple perspectives but I have to say that I have read a few books here recently and they have been done beautifully (along with this one).

There is something different about Eden, she isn't like most soul eaters. Eden fights the the urge to kill a...more

Samantha has done it again!! There is just nothing this girl can’t do that isn’t top notch. Samantha delivers another great beginning to a sure to be phenomenal series. I won this book on Samantha’s blog a little while ago, but I didn’t have time to read it until now. What an amazing start to the series!

Eden has always known that she was different from everyone in her family. She has always felt like she didn’t belong with them, well except her brother, Stellan. Stellan has always supported her...more

Lovvvvved this! So original!
Warriors of Ankh is another wonderful series by Samantha Young (If ya'll liked this book check out her others!) The originality of this book is probably what won me over. I mean how many books out there have the MC be like the actual "bad" guy? Yeah not many.
Eden was such a wonderful character! I really did feel for her while she went through her hunger, and the hurt Noah caused:( And oh my fucking god, I wanted to kill her creepy ass cousin. God what a CREEP. Oh and...more
