This is the first self-published book I've ever read and I can't say I regret it. K.C. Blake has a great story here. Unfortunately, the book could've of used one or two more edits. Actually, my only qualm with the book is the spelling and grammatical errors in it. They weren't so awful that they jerked you out of the book though, not for me at least. It's really sad she couldn't find a publisher for this book because I bet it would really popular if she'd been able to get one. On to the review.....more

As a lover of the written word and an overprotective much too involved mother not to mention a fan of the sups world, the title Vampires Rule caught my attention when my 11 year old wanted to read it. We just couldn’t wait to sink our teeth into this one (pun poorly intended). I try not to judge books by their covers (my daughter however, does), but I did find the cross on the VR cover to be eye-catching and it left many question and I had to dive in too see where it would lead.

Once purchased, t...more

I received a copy of Vampire Rules from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review so thanks to KC Blake for making this available.

Where do I begin, ok I will start with what I did like. I loved the character Jersey, it says something about me that I always find the bad guys far more interesting than the heros, but Jersey and his delusional poetry spewing self was the most intriguing character in the whole book. For the YA genre it was refreshingly free of teenage angst, crappy childho...more

Jack would love nothing more than to be human again, but Jack died ten years ago and now his little brother’s older than him and his girlfriends are fighting over him. A teen novel with vampires who aren’t adorably dreamy and dangers that really might include death and dismemberment, K.C. Blake’s Vampires Rule makes a refreshing change.

Jack gets his wish, but living a normal high-school life in the daylight doesn’t quite live up to expectations. As he worries about whether he’s really “safe” he...more

I haven't read many vampire books other than a handful of other popular series. I love the new aspects K.C. blake brought to being a werewolf / vampire.

Jack is a young kid that was killed by werewolves but was saved by vampires and was turned. He then meets a girl named Silver and gets attacked by another werewolf, but instead of killing him, he is turned back into a human. He now has a second chance at a new life, but the new girl he met is a hunter. Jack and his hunter girlfriend, Silver, are...more

I received a free copy of this ebook (Thank you K.C.!), and had a great time reading it! I was a little wary at first because although I did read Twilight, it's not my favorite genre and I thought it might be a little too similar. The supernatural characters are similar, but this story has a bit of a twist to it with its main character turning human again after being a vampire and introducing "hunters" to the mix.

There are plenty of reviews that lay out the plot, so I won't repeat it. "Vampires...more

I was a little surprised to find that this book is Young Adult but that’s only because I didn’t read the description before reading the book. It being YA is not a bad thing; it just caught me off guard.

This was not an ‘edge of your seat’ type of book for me but it did keep a steady pace and had some interesting and unique (at least unique for me) twists.

I liked that both of the main characters were able to defend themselves and didn’t constantly have to depend on others. They have their vulnera...more

I'm having a little trouble writing this review. Not because I don't know what I want to say, but because I don't want to write the exact same review 15 other people already have. The truth is, however, that just like a number of previous readers, I found the idea of this story fascinating but the execution lacking. Jack, Silver, and Jersey's destiny was an interesting one, but there were a number of plot holes and a couple just curiosity holes. For example, (view spoiler)[they have to fight the...more

Ok, so the positives:

Really awesome story idea. You have a kid that is killed and becomes a Vampire only to become un-Vampire because it is his destiny to kill a werewolf who is plotting world destruction. I know, awesome story idea right?

Now, the negatives:

There was some major timeline issues. There was a character that you were told the name and then 20 pages later, the character is kind of introduced. It didn't flow properly. There also seemed to be other parts of the books like something sh...more

Jack a.k.a. Jackpot, a 17 year old teenager is attacked by a werewolf leaving him for dead but is saved by a vampire, by transforming him into one. Ten years later, while visiting his graveyard, vampire Jackpot tries to save a beautiful girl from a werewolf, although he knows that even a scratch from the creature means death. Miracles of miracles, Jack instead of dyeing turns into what he always wanted to be … a human, a 'normal' human that can go to school and have a normal life.

He meets Silver...more

I received Vampire Rule By K.C. Blake for free from the author in exchange for an honest review. At first this book really held my attention and I was very into it. The beginning was great and the story was developing nicely, it was creative and different. Then some where around the middle I started to lose interest in the story being told. I just felt like some parts of the story, I had heard before. Besides feeling like I had heard some aspects before others things such as I guess you would sa...more

I will say that I did enjoy the story line of this book. I tried not to read too many reviews ahead of time because I didn't want that to cloud my judgement too much. I think that the author has a good twist on the vampire/werewolf idea and I liked where it was going. There were a couple things that kept pulling me from the story, though. There are some inconsistencies that could easily be fixed, some spelling and grammar errors. What bothered me most, though, were the timeline inconsistencies....more

Jack died 10 years ago, well sort of. The victim of a vicious werewolf attack and, near death, was found by a vampire who I guess you could say "saved" his life by turning him into a vampire. Vampires Rule has a great cast of paranormals - vampires, werewolves, a soul-sucker, and a dash of fairy. On the human side we have kick-ass "hunters" who hunt the vampires and werewolves and a few everyday normal people.

The story revolves around prophecies from a diary that was written by a fairy named Lov...more

They don’t call him Jackpot for nothing…

To me, Jack is like a cat. He has got way more than one life. As a teenager he is attacked by a blood thirsty werewolf and is saved by a vampire. Fast forward ten years and he has finally come to accept his fate as a vamp (although he isn’t truly happy), and he has made friends who have become family.

But then one night everything changes.

He is attacked...more

His name is Jack, his nickname is "Jackpot" and with good reason. Killed by a werewolf, but changed at the last moment by vampires he is spared from death. Then by a freak chance, he becomes mortal once more after an encounter with another werewolf. Now he's not completely human, vampire or werewolf... he's something more.

K. C. Blake presents us with a unique blend of traditional vampires, werewolves and a bit more thrown in. It's a fast-paced tale of life, death, rebirth. Second chances that ma...more

Vampires Rule, which I received as a free download from the author, is a solid effort that would have benefited from a few more edits and a little less emphasis on yet another budding "soulmate" romance. This YA novel clearly targets teens still on a Twilight bender, as it has the same elements: Vampires, Werewolves, teen romance, possible war to end all wars (as well as the human race).

I liked the way K.C. Blake handled the supernatural creatures, their backstories were interesting and the orig...more

I've read K.C. Blake's Witch-Game series, and I really loved those books. That's why I decided to read this series, even though I wasn't sure how I would feel about it. I'm kind of burned out on vampire books, and I haven't even read that many. I don't even really understand myself because I'm not a big fan of vampires, but I still feel like I end up reading a decent amount of them just because of how many there are. I'm getting more and more tired of them though.

That being said, I did enjoy thi...more

This is a promising beginning to a new series. There was a lot of potential in the pages of this book. Some things worked really well, and a few things needed a little polishing. But, it was a pretty enjoyable read, and I will be interested in continuing this series in the future. There is an interesting little twist in this book when compared to other vampire genre books that I have read. Jack begins the book as a vampire, but he quickly turns back into a human after a werewolf attack. I though...more

This was a good book. The storyline is intriguing and very different in many of the other vampire books out there now. I do have to say that as I was reading it, I kept thinking about Buffy...there was a very faint similarity to it and it was just on my mind. But, truly it is only a minuscule thought.
When I began this novel, I had just finished a series in which one of the main characters was named Jack. Lo and behold, the main character here is Jack. So, I had to make sure I separated the two....more

I'm not sure what it is about this book that caught my attention but I got to the point where I wanted to know the answers to the mysterious situations cropping up in the book. it is written more about 17yr olds but it didn't do the whiny crap that you can get along with reading a teen book. The story line is fresh at least I haven't read a vamp book quite like this so the authors world is a unique one and not a knock off of someone else's which is nice, I love it when an author questions the st...more

Now, I know the cover doesn't say much but this book is really good. Let's not judge a book by its cover. The storyline of the book is great! I really fell into the storyline, especially with learning about the past about Jack and his future with Silver.

Let me first off say that I adore books that have not only a great plot line, but a great back round or history. I really like how the reader was able to devour each part of this vampire/werewolf history little by little. Secrets were discovered,...more

I received this book through Bee's Knees Reviews. This is definitely a read for any/all Vampire book lovers. I had never really been into the whole "scifi" type books but after reading the Twilight series a few years ago I started becoming interested in other vampire stories as well. This series (Vampires Rule/Werewolves rule) is far from the typical "vampire/werewolve/other" love triangle that most books are based on. With only a few chapters read, Vampires Rule became a definite page-turner fo...more

This book is a quick and easy read at 260 pages in the ebook format. The story follows Jack, a ten year old vampire that was killed at the age of seventeen along with his parents, leaving only his younger brother Billy behind. After almost being caught in the house by his brother, now a fully grown twenty five year old, Jack escapes and visits his own grave at the cemetery. Th...more

Here is a book that introduces us to a mixture of different creatures in one story. The main character Jack the vampire, who turns human after only a handful of vampire years. The love interest Silver who's got powers of her own. The introduction of werewolves that set Jack free from his Vampire life. There is a mention of Faery and a new kind of creature the Wraith.
I for one love a story that introduces several types of species that interact. I love the twists that can happen in that kind of a...more

This book is about two young people destined to be together. Their love sees them through, against great odds. Only together can they face the evil forces who would destroy them both.

From the moment I picked up this book, I didn't want to put it down, and I couldn't wait to get back to reading it when I was forced to put it away. The author is a superb storyteller, who keeps constant tension going between the characters, and who has a wonderful command of writing. Plot: I'm disappointed this book isn't more popular. After reading this book, I'm craving for more. I was hesitant that it revolved around a guy main character, but this book definitely pushed away my fears. I loved hearing Jack's thoughts on going from a human to a vampire to a human. It was intriguing to hear about a vampire going back to being mortal, especially when he turned mortal because he was scratched by a werewolf. Of course, the werewolves and vampires have a raging feud towards one...more

Born and raised in California, I fell in love with writing while reading The Outsiders. Then I fell in love with Stephen King's writing style. I enjoy reading many types of books, but YA Paranormal is my favorite. I used to write for Harlequin under a different name. So that's my background. Exciting, no?

I have three books out now: Vampires Rule, Werewolves Rule, and Crushed.

“Stop!” she screamed. “Don’t hurt him.”

“Back off!” Billy shouted.

She yanked harder on Billy’s arm.

“He isn’t a vampire anymore, idiot. Look! Do you see that big, yellow thing up in the sky? That’s called the sun. It’s shining down on him, and he isn’t exploding. His fangs are gone. He’s as human as we are. Case closed.”

Billy stared up at the sky, his jaw slack. “Not possible.”

Jack mumbled, “They don’t call me Jackpot for nothing.”

“What?” Billy blinked at him.

“Private joke.”
