Even though this book in the beginning is a replica of Twilight. It changed throughout so that by the end it's not anymore. So far it's just as captivating.
Things seemed to happen to move too fast for me (mostly just the end) and some parts were predictable but others weren't.
Overall, it's a good love story about a girl who falls in love with a vampire and the struggles they have to go through to be together [even though the ending of the book leaves something in this sentence to be debated but...more

I was unsure in after the first couple of chapters I was thinking this was a Twilight redo, BUT I was wrong! This book went somewhere completley different....Don't get me wrong, there's still un-dying love and a girl who thinks she's undeserving...but somewhere after the first chapter it turned on me. Mainly a mixture of theories taken a li'i from Twilight Saga, Vampire Diaries and My Blood Approves (by: Amanda Hocking)... Well, this is a pretty much average teen vampire read. It somewhat reads as Twilight fan fiction with all that, “you should stay away from me, I’m not good for you” stuff. I had a hard time believing certain situation (view spoiler)...more

I really wasn't expecting to like this book as much as I thought I would. It is nice to be pleasantly surprised. This book was fast-paced and very engaging from the get-go. So much that I was half way through it when I'd realized it was one in the morning and I needed to go to bed!

I give this book 4.5 stars! I was really suprised with this book, didn't know what to expect, and for a second I was a bit afraid that it would have similarities to Twilight and I was praying, please don't let it be another Twilight-vampire-story! The prologue of this book begins with the main character, Ridley, talking about this boy, Bo, who has changed her life and taught her blah, blah, blah. So I'm thinking, okay, we'll see how much he really teaches you as the book progresses. This book is fantastic. So emotive and amazing.
Ridley and Bo were just incredible. I admired Ridley when she stood up to Trinity, and I just loved Bo. The author has given such great characters and personalities to both of them that almost convinced me that they were real. True love, self-discovery. This book is highly typical of any vampire/human romance books I've ever read; where the girl is incredibly drawn to the mysteriously dark, brooding newcomer. So the story proceeds on like it should, wherein I fought off the urge to call it a Twilight copycat. But as I delve deeper into the story, I found that For the Love of a Vampire has its unique twists on the legends and the myths of this highly overused breed of monsters in the literary mainstream.

While paranormal romances seem to be such a big hit in the YA fiction market, it's really hard to find a book with Vampires that doesn't have the same cliched story line as Twilight. M. Leighton's novel, For the Love of a Vampire, for the most part, succeeds in getting out of the shadows of the more famous novel.

First off, let me say I was really excited to read this book because of all the great reviews. Unfortunately, I am one of the very few that really didn't like it. It wasn't absolutely horrible, but it was bad enough that I won't be reading the rest of the series.

M. Leighton creates an enticing sexy romance between Ridley and Bo. This isn't your average vampire romance but creates a new mythology that I haven't encountered before. Bo is the most amazing hero who is intense, romantic and protective. This book was actually pretty darn good. I was a little worried from what people were saying about it being just a rip off of twilight, but it really wasn't. I do see where some people were saying that, because I mean, you have a vampire who captivates this girl, and she is totally taken with him and his mysterious self. Oh my God! Ridley is the most frustrating and confusing heroine ever!
She is soooo like Nora in Hush-Hush, she can't even decide what she wants! And her indecisions make me wants to throttle her. Come on, Rid, why don't you just tell Bo you love him from the start and save me the headache.
And I don't really like Bo's name. Calling him Jonathan is one thing, but Bo is another matter. Bo sounds...weird. Actually he's a very nice guy, and the story is not very boring by any means, it's decent and pr...more

At first when I started to read this book I thought "oh no, it's another vampire book, Ggrrr." so just out of curiosity I kept reading and thank the heavens I did because I was so surprised and amazed with this book I had to buy the next one.......and then the next one. When I first started reading I thought: this book seems familiar, girl meets boy-instant attraction and love-boy turns out to be vampire.... great just like Twilight. Then I was like: well at least Ridley isn't a whiner-she's just a sheep in the high school game, but has much more confidence and strength from the get go; at least Bo isn't brooding all the time and has been recently turned into a vampire (but really, I love my brooding vampire and whiney girl and I didn't want to replace them!)....more
I picked up For the Love of a Vampire: Blood Like Poison because it happened to be free on Amazon and I have a kindle app on my phone. Not to mention that M. Leighton is a pretty fabulous person. But up until this moment, I had yet to read anything thing by her. And the minute I dived into this book I knew I would have to read more of her stuff. I mean for goodness sake...she referenced Keith Stone and Damon Salvatore in the same stinkin sentence. Yep, a woman after my own heart.
