Non sono riuscita a trovare il bandolo di questo libro, tanti e tali sono i pretesti e le convenzioni necessari per tenerlo in piedi. Le notti d'amore tra i due protagonisti che si danno del voi hanno una passionalità da tragedia greca che in quale modo fa da contrappunto alla mancata messa in scena di una tragedia di Sofocle, e tutti i personaggi sono così sopra le righe da non essere credibili. Al tutto si aggiunge una traduzione pericolante.

Assia Djebar was born in Algeria to parents from the Berkani tribe of Dahra. She adopted the pen name Assia Djebar when her first novel, La Soif (Hunger) was published in 1957, in France where she was studying at the Sorbonne.

In 1958, she travelled to Tunis, where she worked as a reporter alongside Frantz Fanon, travelling to Algerian refugee camp
