Oh where do I start! Only about half of these recipes are actually for the slow cooker!! Very misleading. While many of the recipes have names that sound super healthy, they are very high in both fat and sugar. For example, one was called "low sugar" and had almost 30 grams of sugar per serving!!! Not sure how they could possibly be the healthiest on earth. Yes, the many of the recipes are really tasty. But if you are trying to make healthy choices with food, diet and lifestyle I would skip this ...more

These are not healthy recipies! Too much salt, too much sugar, and plenty of chemical laden sauces: ketchup, sweet chili sauce, teriyaki sauce, etc. And there is often cooking to do before it goes into the slow cooker. Arg! Who wants to cook the rutabagas (page 140) before putting them in a slow cooker? (besides that rutabaga recipe has 204 calories per serving with 86 calories from fat!) AND the fat content is high in plenty of recipes, in example: "Luscious, Leanest Lamb Chops" on page 48 has ...more

Recommends it for: People who like to cook from scratch
I think this is a good book to own because it tells you how to make your own chicken, beef, fish, vegetable stock, infused oils, etc. Stuff you don't make every day, but would be helpful to know how to make in a crock pot. I found a lot of the rest of the recipes to be very sophisticated, meaning, if you have young kids, they will NEVER eat this stuff. We are currently cooking a recipe from this book and it took me about 1 1/2 hours last night to prep the dish - way too time consuming. I'll be r ...more

Good recipes

I would love to have pictures with the recipes. I like the recipes, but I am one who picks recipes by how good it looks.

I was a bit underwhelmed by this one. Way too much sodium (over 2,000/serving) in some of the dishes.

Just wasn't that interested in many of the recipes. There was a bit of precooking before going into the pot. Obviously, I didn't actually try any of the recipes yet but it seems a little bit much for what I was looking for.
