It's 1968. Rebecca Williams is a new senior at a high school by Washington D.C. In order to get close to a handsome guy, she tries out for the role of Lucy in the play DRACULA. Little does she realize she will get the role -- plus a real vampire, a real werewolf -- and a political conspiracy that could change the course of history.

to be honest, i picked this up because the cover was absolutely wretched. generally when i see a cover that bad, i expect the book to be a disaster, so i went into this pretty biased - it doesn't help that young adult vampire romance is... not my genre, let's say. i should really stop reading heterosexual romance novels because i'm increasingly having a hard time getting into it and that's not exactly fair to the author, since i'm outside of their target demographic, but i don't want to exile my

Recommends it for: Young speculative thinkers who don't need horror and action.
The mention of Twilight in the name of this novel might make you think it is a derivative of the Stephanie Meyers' books. Don't. While there are some similarities, this is actually a reference to a more famous work. The book, while having a young female protagonist, also has far deeper aspirations than being a paranormal romance. However, I would still definitely class it as young adult.

This book is set against the backdrop of Washington DC in the 1960s and is full of references to that period.

unfortunately, I didn't enjoy this book and couldn't finish it, which is a rarity for me. After the first two dozen pages, nothing had really happened, which I find frustrating in a book.
