I loved this book . . . I found Mischa to be simply adorable. Of course, my one complaint is that I would have loved this to be oh about 20-30K words more . . . but then it wouldn’t be a novella now would it. But between you and me I have that complaint with all of Lee Brazil’s books . . . I truly believe it is the youngest child syndrome – I always want more more more.

The 'dare' based on losing a poker hand wasn't so bad. But shortly after the dare takes affect, we're immediately thrown into Mischa having multiple money issues and needing a job immediately. There is no sense of Mischa losing what he had taken advantage of before; no sense of the time he'd spent looking for work, or dealing with sycophant friends abandoning...more

I loved this story and I hope there will be another book to give us more time with Mischa and Donovan, I mean they have a baby on the way... The twins and Terry's enjoyment form watching them could be another story *hint, hint*. You have an amazing talent for story telling,the descriptive way you set up a scene makes it so easy to see everything in my head. It really helps to form a connection with the story. This is a delightful book. I rec it to anyone who enjoys loving romance with a side of very hot sex. I've been disappointed in several books recently and it was a relief to plunge into the world created by Lee for his characters, to laugh and love with them. My only complaint is the length. I wanted much much more.

This story had great bones & I really loved the primary AND secondary characters. Which is pretty awesome for a book this short. BUT I think this book would have been much better if there was more. The ending was extremely rushed. Maybe I'm just bitter because the 2nd book in this series doesn't seem to be available yet.

I loved this book. It was so sweet. I loved Donovan and Mischa and I enjoyed Mischa's brother's and also his friends. I want more of everyone. I wish it would have been longer, I wanted to keep reading about everyone!

It was 2 stars when I finished it but the more I think about it the grumpier I get, so now it's 1 star.

I loved this book. I finished it in one long session; I literally could not put it down. Mischa is so loving from the very start, how could Donovan resist him. I loved how Lee Brazil didn't shy from their attraction to each other but instead used it as a strength to the book. Even though the two men knew that it was a very bad idea as employer/employee to become involved, the atraction was there and so strong, they went for it. Well done Mr. Brazil. I can't wait for Terry's story :)

I am hoping this will be a series about the brothers.. I can see where book 2 may go already and it is one of my face taboos!(I should say that I THINK I see where book 2 will go)

I enjoyed this book, Mischa and Donovan made for a nice couple, I thougth that Mischa's brothers were obnoxious and overbearing. I really like the fact the Mischa found out who his real friends were after the money ran out. Again enjoyed the read can't wait for the next installment of this series.

I simply adored this book. It was sweet, romantic, funny, and way too short.

Mischa was so spunky, sweet and the perfect partner for Donovan. Secondary characters were fascinating and I hope they will all be included in the next few books.

Mr. Brazil's stories always has a strong romantic, fall in love forever storyline. I really enjoy my HEA and he never fails to deliver. I am a "huge" fan and as long as he writes, I will read.

I love stories where the main characters have an age difference between them. I also love opposites attract stories. This fits both of those. Mischa is a wild child, a trust fund baby who is dared by his older (and controlling) brothers to get a job and walk away from his trust fund for a year. He has to completely support himself without any help from the family at all. If he doesn't do this, he will be forced (manipulated) into doing what the brothers want him to do... not what HE wants to do....more

This storyline sounded intriguing to me about a young rich play boy who takes his brothers' dare to find a job and support himself for a year.

The story is really good and I really enjoyed the buildup, but then the big ILY is said and all bets are off. It feels rushed, like the author got fed up with the story and just wanted to move on to the HEA right away…and that’s where I lose interest. The timeframe is too unrealistic for me, especially what happens in the epilogue. (view spoiler)

This is a nice, simple, quick story .... a beginning of a series about the lives and loves of 4 brothers. Fans of love at first sight will love this book. And the dynamics between the brothers are fun. There are 2 points that drop my rating to a 3/3.5 for an otherwise enjoyable read ... and both have to do with timeline.

Mischa is a character who is full and deep. He is a free spirit. In many ways, when we first meet him, he seems like a bit of a spoiled brat; a trust-find baby. Tormented by his older brothers who want him to enter into the family business, he wishes nothing more than to be left alone to live his own life the way he pleases. When his brothers make a bet with him that he can't last a year holding down a job and supporting himself without his monthly allowance from his trust fund, Mischa defiantly accepts the challenge.

At first, looking for a job is challenging, but then he stumbles upon a job taking care of Donovan Holloway's house. Donovan has made his own success and money. He grew up taking care of his parents rather than the other way around and had to grow up too fast. Along the way, he had also learned not to trust. To wonder whether people were genuine or after the material comforts he could offer them.

When Donovan and Mischa meet, the chemistry is immediate and powerful. Each is wary to jump into anything, dealing with skeletons from their proverbial closets. What unfolds is a magnificent story of soul searching, finding love, and claiming one's identity.

What I enjoyed about this story was the gradual unfolding of emotions. I loved watching the two men grapple with their own demons so they could allow someone else in past their guards. Admittedly, Donovan has a thicker wall around him than Mischa, his issues stemming from deep-rooted hurt from his childhood. Mischa's struggle was more one of self-discovery. He was swimming in money prior to the story, so we watch as he figures out who his real friends and what his true feelings are. As each opens up, their feelings bind together and their love blossoms.

With that said, there were a few things which distracted me. Primarily, there were a few things which needed to be accepted without being fully developed. Given the nature of writing novellas, this is hard to avoid. The immediate love was one of those things as was the degree to which Mischa's brothers seemed to dominate his life. A twist surrounding his brothers reveals itself later on in the story, which also requires a bit of blind acceptance.

Overall, KEEPING HOUSE was an exquisite journey of two men as they grappled with their own issues to come together and then, as a team, did what was necessary for others to accept them as a couple. Well worth reading.(less)

When his brothers dare him to find a job and maintain himself for a year, the only job 20 years old without college degree Micha is able to find is the one as housekeeper for ad executive Donovan Holloway.

As the perfect ad man, Donovan has an idyllic imagine of what suburbs life should be: white fences, garden pool parties and a welcoming house waiting for him when he comes back from work. When he realized, at a young age, he was gay, that dream changed only a little, substituting the wife with a husband. Donovan was raised in a hippy community and what for other people is a conservative, and fake, lifestyle for him is the realization of a childhood dream. Even a younger husband (Donovan is pushing 40, Micha is barely 20) fit perfectly into the picture, how many of those perfect family have indeed a younger wife paired with a handsome, but older husband?

Even if light and mostly funny, the story was truly romantic, and someway even realistic; the life of a spoiled rich kid Micha was leading I think is the real life of many of those boys and girls you read in the trashy magazine, teenagers playing to be rebels but with enough money to buy drugs and expensive toys. And among those spoiled brats, the twincest story between Dex and Trick is one I for sure will read (it’s the second book in the series).

As I said, the plot is mostly romance, and there is not drama at all. It’s a nice and good story, with just that touch of sex to make it enticing, but mostly it remains on the “sweet” level.

Mischa eventually applies for a position to be a housekeeper/gardener to a busy executive and though the man at first doesn’t even want to give him a chance (Mischa has lots of piercings and a Mohawk) he soon sees that Mischa is up for the job. But Mischa finds, as does Donovan, that there’s more than the job to be interested in – namely each other.

First off let me talk about the brothers. I could tell from the minute they were introduced that they loved Mischa and wanted what was best for him but the way they went about it truly pissed me off. They couldn’t see that Mischa was his own person and kind of a free spirit and that he never wanted to be involved in the family business. On one hand the fact that they were trying to get Mischa to be responsible and find a job was a great idea. But on the other hand the way they went about it left me cold.

When Mischa started his housekeeping duties he cracked me up – he had his laptop and he used that sucker for every little thing. Just goes to show you that you can google about anything and get the job done. His first day on the job he was using a search engine to find out how to make a pot of coffee and eventually how to do laundry. lol So Mischa was smart and got his job done because he wasn’t afraid of hard work, but while doing this Donovan, his boss, was lusting after him and by the second day falling in love with him. Maybe I’m not a big believer in love at first sight because I didn’t believe this one at all. Donovan knew absolutely nothing about Mischa at all except for his looks and that he could do the job he was paid for yet he loved him? Too easy.

While I really liked Brazil’s writing style, the story left out huge aspects of the relationship that I felt would be important to know. Also the overall timeline would have been beneficial – how long had Mischa been looking for a job before he landed on Donovan’s doorstep? When I got to the epilogue there was a major announcement but I didn’t have any idea how long it had been from the love declarations/last chapter to that moment. Yes, this was a short novella but I think that just a few more pages would have benefitted the story a great deal.

Overall a good, sweet m/m story.

Donovan is a character you just fall in love with. He knows what he wants out of life and finding that someone special is a top priority of his. While interviewing potential housekeepers, in walks a Goth looking young man. Mischa takes Donovan by surprise but the attraction is evident between these two men immediately.

Donovan and Mischa are a very intriguing love match. Donovan is twenty years older than Mischa but they complement each other so well that the age difference doesn’t matter. Mischa’s brothers add humor to this love story with their overprotective nature and overactive imaginations. They are thrown completely for a loop at what they discover when they see Donovan and Mischa together.

I really would have liked if this story was stretched out a little more. At times it seemed rushed. That being said it was still a really good read. Definitely a fast paced. There were some characters introduced in this story that I hope the author writes about in later books.

Keeping House will capture your interest form beginning to end. The characters are realistic and could be anyone you would no. With such different personalities struggles are a given that add to these characters believability. The author did an excellent job of writing about the wants and hopes people seek at any age. Keeping House is a must read.

Keeping House is a sweet and uncomplicated short-story, but that definitely does not mean it lacks quality or a depth of feeling. This is the story of two very different men from very different backgrounds, who are at different stages of their lives, but are brought together by chance, by a dare that was never meant to set Mischa on a path leading away from the Blake family empire and toward a future of his own making, a future that will include the building of his own family with Donovan.

What could a Goth boy and a forty year old corporate advertising executive possibly have in common that would attract them to each other? Sometimes it’s nothing more than the need to be cared for and the need to care for someone that brings two people together. Sometimes it’s about having a dream and having the desire to help that person fulfill his dream that can bind two very different people to each other. But mostly, it’s the simple fact that love is a force which frequently defies explanation.

Lee Brazil brought Mischa and Donovan, as well as the secondary cast of characters to life on the page. Their strengths, conflicts, and emotions were genuine, and I become entirely involved in the outcome of the story. These characters are each entirely endearing, and, let’s face it, a few are downright intriguing and left me wanting to know so much more about them. But I’ll just have to wait.

Keeping House has set up the second book in the series for what promises to be a very, very interesting treat.(less)

Mischa is a typical trust fund baby. He has more money than he knows what to do with and goes through it like water. His brother deposits money into his account monthly because he can’t fully access his trust fund until he is 35. He enjoys his care free life style and does everything he can to piss his brother’s off.

During the weekly poker game he is tricked into getting a job and supporting himself for a year or paying a penalty to each of his three older brothers. He has no desire to owe his brother’s so he is determined to win this bet, no matter what. Getting a job was harder than he thought though.

Donavan is looking for a housekeeper for his new home. He has always dreamed of owning his own home and having a family to come home to every night. The home is a wreck and he desperately needs help to get it in order. When he opened the door to find a skinny kid in Goth attire, he never expected to find his future.

I loved Mischa’s character. He isn’t as clueless as his brother’s make him out to be, he just isn’t cut out to be what they want him to be. Through this experience, he has discovered who his true friends are. He may be young but he has a lot of character. He is also resourceful, hardworking and not afraid to get his hands dirty, very unusual traits for a trust fund baby.

He and Donavan are great together. They may be total opposites but they complement each other. The sexual tension between them was obvious from the beginning but when they finally come together it was sizzling hot. Not only was it was full of love but it was sexy as hell, love me some piercings.

The story also contains some great secondary characters from his older domineering brothers to the twins and Bella. They also help to set up other books in this series. I can’t wait to read about Terry and the twins in the next story.

Overall I really enjoyed Keeping House and give it 3½ Flaming Hearts. (less)
