Ellie, Evan and Jimmy have always been best friends. They work together, play together, support each other and...accidentally eavesdrop on each other, doing some very dirty things.

When Ellie hears what Evan and Jimmy have been doing behind her back—watching smutty movies that feature women who look just like her—she doesn't know whether to be bemused or offended. Or maybe

Ellie, Evan and Jimmy are best friends but what Ellie didn’t know was that the two guys have been watching movies featuring women who look like her. And Jimmy also has a crush on Evan too…

The opening of this story features Ellie eavesdropping on her friends. Evan and Jimmy are watching a movie, thinking about Ellie and masturbating while they do so. This particular scene went on a bit long for my liking because I would have preferred the three of them to interact sooner. However, when Ellie doe
I have such a writer!crush on Charlotte Stein at the moment but this one I found faintly troubling.

I don't think it was particularly well developed, like it could have been so much more than it was. Perhaps this was the story that gave rise to the blistering wonderfulness that is Make Me. Certainly it reads like a sort of prototype for that. I didn't feel like we got much of an insight into any of the characters and frankly Jimmy's eventual result disturbed me too much to like the story.

I'm not sure about that ending... This book has some of the elements that I love in Make Me, Doubled, and, to a certain extent, Telling Tales and Control, but its conclusion is a little too unresolved (for my taste). Maybe it's because I'm primarily a romance reader, but -- if there's even a hint of a relationship, romance, or whatnot -- I really want to believe that it's going somewhere for (all of) the characters involved in that relationship, romance, or whatnot.
Not my favorite Charlotte Stein book but I still liked it. Honestly, I would've been happy if Jimmy hadn't been part of the story at all. I liked the interactions with Ellie and Evan the most. Jimmy just annoyed me throughout the story. Also, I would've liked more back story but since this is a novella, I was okay with the fast pacing of the plot. The ending is wrapped up very quickly and easily, but it's not unbelievable. I would probably read this book again.

Somewhere between 3-1/2 and 4, but closer to 4. Ms. Stein does such a great job with awkward boys. And in this one, I wouldn't say the girl was full of confidence either. I think Ellie and Evan would have eventually gotten together on their own, but Jimmy was a really good "director" and instigator. I must say I was maybe a *little* let down that Evan and Jimmy didn't go a bit further. I felt a little bad for Jimmy at the end. But going any further probably really would have ruined the friendshi ...more

Stain always captures an overall emotions within her books - this one really clamps down on 'feeling awkward' :D But it's all good in the end, all good.

Charlotte Stein has written over thirty short stories, novellas and novels, including entries in The Mammoth Book of Hot Romance and Best New Erotica 10. Her latest work, Run To You, was recently a DABWAHA finalist. When not writing deeply emotional and intensely sexy books, she can be found eating jelly turtles, watching terrible sitcoms and occasionally lusting after hunks. For more on Charlotte ...more
