Enjoyable Read!

This book was filled with family drama where there was never a dull moment. Megan, a mother of five, up and left her husband and children so she could find herself, feel needed, and be independent years ago but she never stopped loving her now ex-husband or her children and has always kept in touch and tabs on them. Now years have passed and her children are grown and her chance to reconcile with her ex-husband and remarry him has come along but Megan wants everything to

Reading Log Day 1

I started this last night and love the characters. Megan has finally said yes to remarriage with Mick which was fun reading. The family dinner definitely puts a damper on the celebration and Mick's further mistakes puts the wedding itself in jeopardy. I feel for Megan. As a mother I know that the whole situation has to be tearing her up and she doesn't even know the details of Mick's "helpful" attempt to make things perfect for her. I can tel

The squabbling and the pushing and the wishy-washy-ness of Megan was very irritating. Could not wait to finish just to end the frustration. Her others in the series were much better and heartfelt than this one.

I recognize that this is not my genre so am jaded a tad my reaction to this book.
I also recognize that at this point there is no need to write a quick recap of what the story is about (book came out in 2010).
Therefore, a few comments:
First off, the text was proof-read! a pleasant change. Too many books out there come to me and are clearly not proof-read thoroughly and some are from large reputable houses who should know better.
So, no glaring punctuation or misspellings to be found. I read the ha

I read (listened to) the first Sherryl Woods book in this series, The Inn at Eagle Point, because it was set on the Chesapeake Bay. You can see my review of it here on Goodreads. I stopped reading her books after that one, but I had this one already downloaded and figured I would like to read (listen to) a book related to Christmas in the weeks preceding the holiday. To my repeated disappointment, this book had as much to do with Christmas as Santa Claus has to do with Easter.

After reading the love story of their daughter Abby and Trace, filled with a good amount of steam and some sizzle, I really looked forward to the rekindling of Megan and Mick's story. They had divorced amid cutoff, hurt feelings and unresolved issues. Having come together around their children, they became civil and it seemed there was a spark.

As they set out to remarry, however, the story Woods told had too much to do with the son Connor's not giving his blessing. I felt he should have been the

This was my least favourite of the Chesapeake Shores books.

Megan O'Brien is a self-involved character who wants everything her way, all the time. The formula of a romance is to create almost insurmountable odds that the couple overcome but that didn't happen in this book. Everyone just gave into Megan every time she had a tantrum about her independence wanting things her own way.

A random woman thrusts a baby into her arms but she doesn't bother to ask the woman's name or who the father is? Then

I won this book as part of the First Reads program. It was delivered at just the right time because I had just gotten my wisdom teeth out and was wanting something good to read. Chesapeake Shores Christmas continues the series about the O'Brien family, but this time it specifically focuses on the parents Megan and Mick. Megan and Mick had let their stubborness and pride cause their marriage to fall apart. They have been working on their relationship and realize that they both still love each oth ...more

This was the first book I read in the Christmas Spirit Reading Challenge this year. It is one of the continuing stories of the O'Brien family who built and live in a town called Chesapeake Shores. Megan married Mick O'Brien, the builder of the town, but left him when their 5 children were young because she thought he loved his work more than his family. She made a place for her children to be with her in New York, but their father convinced them to stay with him. After many years, Megan and Mick ...more

This newest book by Sherryl Woods is like coming home for Christmas! I love Chesapeake Shores and this little book wet my appetite wanting me more! Can't wait for April of 2011. But back to the book. Mick and Meg, they have come together and realize they still love each other. Mick is overbearing and Meg wants her independence. Can they get it together, because Mick has already planned a New Year's Eve wedding! All the kids seem on board, but Connor is downright protesting this union. So when Mi ...more

After years apart Mick and Megan O'Brien have reconciled and are planning to remarry. Most of their children have accepted this and are happy for the re-marriage. Except for Connor, a now prestigious divorce attorney who has never forgiven his mother for leaving his father and her children when she just walked away years ago. Mick and Megan O'Brien divorced years ago, not because they weren't in love, but because they had lost the ability to communication and listen. Now years later with their children grown, they are ready to try again. Mick is hoping for a New Year's Eve Wedding, but Megan keeps thinking of reasons why they should wait.

I didn't find Mick all that appealing. Maybe it is because I hate for someone to get in my business, or try to run my life and he just couldn't seem to help himself. He kept saying

To me this is a book of a mothers love for her son as well as her love for her family and her soon again husband to be. This is 4th in a series of separate stories, set in the same town with the same extended family, but each book centers around a different couple. You could easily read this one first. This book is 6 hours long on CD.

When Mick and Megan O'Brien decide to get remarried after years apart, most of their grown children are excited about their rekindled romance with the exception of their son Connor, a divorce attorney, who, believing that Megan had abandoned the family, refuses to give his blessing.

A Chesapeake Shores Christmas is hands down the cheesiest book I've had to review in a long time -- I volunteered to take it off my editor's hands in exchange for a few other, more interesting titles, explaining that as a Chesapeake Bay-area native myself, I probably had some obligation to New York Times bestseller Sherryl Woods and her readership.

This book is the 4th in Woods' Chesapeake Shores series, and it tells the story of divorcee Megan O'Brien's reunion with her husband Mick. Megan and

Another winner in the series surrounding the O'Brien family, based on a fictional town on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland. This story centers mostly around Mom Megan and Dad Mick as they reconnect and decide whether or not to remarry after years of divorce. Sweet, pleasant, easy read but plenty of parts had me rolling my eyes. The meddling in this series is utterly ridiculous and Connor's anger while justified also felt childish. I do not like people who delight in other's hurt. I find that an awful trait which muddled my opinions on this book. It was also not Christmasey enough for me. However, it won't stop me from reading the rest of the series.

Good book...

I am enjoying this series. I was just a little disappointed with the unfolding of this book. At times it seemed a little unrealistic the way everyone just let bygones be bygones. But...I love these characters so much that I still found it to be an entertaining page Turner. I recommend this series...
