Baby, I'm Yours (Southern Roads 0.5)
Emory Maxwell has come home to the small town of Sweetness, Georgia, with one goal in mind--to get his childhood sweetheart Shelby Moon to marry him. They've been in love with the second grade, but Shelby's father is determined to keep his daughter in Sweetness, not moving around the country as a soldier's wife. No matter what she chooses, Shelby knows she'll hurt one of t...more
I think what makes or breaks a short story is the connection. There has to be some way to immediately connect with either the characters or the plot quickly, otherwise everything seems rushed or I end up not caring about what happens....more
Emory Maxwell and Shelby Moon have been inseparable since second grade and childhood sweethearts ever since. Emory joined the Army and Shelby stayed behind in the rural town of Sweetness, Georgia to work in her father's grocery store.
Emory is back home on leave for five days and intends to propose to Shelby despite the tensions in their relationship regarding her loyalty towards her father to stay in the town that offers no prospects for the future. But they've been together for so long; she wo...more
I'm, right at this moment, reading "Southern Roads Book1" which follows this one and you might wonder why. Well, it seems the in this case Stephanie Bond cannot write a short story. Because this really wasn't a story. It wasn't really anything which really made it a terrible prequil.
We met the hero and heroine and we learn a bit about their past relationship and their ... struggles. But there wasn't really a story here. Noth...more
This is listed as a .5 in the Southern Roads trilogy, which is set in Sweetness, Georgia, and sets the stage for the next three books.
Emory Maxwell, on a five day leave from the Army, heads back to Sweetness to ask his long time girlfriend, Shelby, to marry him. They’ve been having their ups and downs (more down lately) and Emory decides asking her to marry him will fix the issue.
Unfortunately, when he gets back home, he finds marriage is not...more
It honestly wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. Even though it was well written, it felt half-assed. The characters had absolutely no time to develop so you'll have a hard time caring what happens to them. For all intents and pur...more
An ebook prequel to Ms. Bond's new contemporary romance series featuring the Armstrong brothers returning to their town of Sweetness, Georgia. Porter Armstrong, hero of Baby, Drive South, makes an appearance in this novella.
Emory is determined to ask Shelby to marry him despite not having a plan, not asking her father for his blessing, or not getting along with Shelby's father period. What made this story emotional for me is the timing of when I read it -- the destructive tornadoes in...more
This novella is a prequel to Stephanie Bond's new Southern Roads trilogy and introduces us to the town of Sweetness, Georgia. I think this length story is hard to judge, character development has to happen quicker and story lines need to wrap up faster than may be natural. I see potential in this...more
This short had it all. Love, suspense, danger, friendship, a happy ending, and a cliff hanger. What more can you ask for from a...more
On a side note, This is the first hing I've everread by Stephanie Bond, and even with the cur...more
The setting in North Georgia of a "green" town being built from the debris of a tragic tornado has promise. Our 3 brothers have potential as protagonists. But it seems a little more like a nice swim in a small pool, rather than offering more "depth".
Still, I'll come back for book 2 and hope for a building-block effect.
In this prequel for the Southern Roads trilogy we meet Emory Maxwell, a soldier on a 5day leave from Afghanistan decides to take the bull by the horns and ask his Shelby to marry him. Well Emory and Shelby seem to have a sticking point that involves her father and the dwindli...more
A quick read, the plot is even more simplistic than the cover makes it look, in the end everything resolves entirely too quickly, and throughout it all the characters are not fleshed out in the least bit. It was bad even by my standards for the free cheesy romances I occasionally download.
This is the prequel for the Southern Roads series and we get to met Sweetness, a small town in Georgia that looks to be stuck in time.
Emory Maxwell and Shelby Moon were childhood friends and now are dating, but since Emory joined the Army and Shelby started working for her father in a groceries store, their relationship started showing signs of breaking.
Emory takes a leave for fives to ask Shelby hand in marriage and that’s when all hell break lose. A tornado swiped through Sweetnes...more
It introduces many of the characters and gives some background on the small town.
There's a lot of action compressed into this short story. I enjoyed it as a quick read.
It's very short, and it was free.
Nothing special on this. It's your typical harlequin lijght reading. You can even predict the ending (even the storyline for that matter).
I’ve gotta say, this was the best short story I’ve ever had the pleasure to read. And even though it was short (8 chapters), I felt like I knew the main characters well enough. So much so, I felt what they felt... my emotions were everywhere just like theirs were. Make sure to have...more
