Very interesting story set in 1313 France, about a teen boy, Grimpow, raised by a thief, who finds a magical stone and sets out on a journey of a lifetime to uncover long hidden secrets of the Knights of the Templars. He meets an Italian knight and becomes his squire, helping him in a tournament, and travels all over France solving puzzles and finding clues to this "secret of the wise." I thought that the clues and puzzles were a little overexplained sometimes, just to make sure you re...more

Rafael Ábalos' GRIMPOW: THE INVISIBLE ROAD starts out with the discovery of a dead body on a cold winter's day. In other words, it's a sure sign of a dangerous and exciting story, and the novel does not disappoint.

The body turns out to be a nobleman with a saddlebag full of coins, jeweled daggers, and a letter with a strange wax seal of a snake swallowing its own tail. Grimpow, a young thief, finds a stone clenched in the ma...more

Maybe something got lost in the translation, but to me this was a slow moving book. It involved a quest to find the "treasure" that a society of sages had hidden for when the time was right. The Knight Templars helped them move it centuries ago. So a boy is the keeper of the stone and uses it to find clues to find the treasure. It takes forever and the ending is disappointing.

Nothing really exciting. Just some kid, Grimpow (don't like the name) who finds this dead body and then he and this old guy, Durlib, find some weird message, and some other pricy stuff that Durlib takes, in the guy's bag (or coat) and it turn out that only Grimpow can read it, and it's writen in this weird language (that neither the kid or guy has ever even seen before). So Grimpow and Durlib decide to find out what the guy was doing in the forest (that's where they found the dead body). Takes ...more

I'm still reading this one. It started off really slowly and I was hoping it would get better and surprisingly it did. It's all wrapped around the Knights Templar and their mystery and the quest for the "real" philosopher's stone in the 14th century. I've been given quite a history lesson. [I'm too lazy to go and verify the stuff, though :)]

This was an interesting book about the Templars and what they brought back from the Holy Land. The writing was good and I liked the characters. However, once the characters completed their 'quest' the book just stopped - no follow-up on what happened afterwards or what they did.

This book is classified as a Young Adult book but I personally feel that adults would love this book and enjoy it just as much. It reminded me of "The Da Vinci Code" in that it had codes, mysteries, and references to the Knights Templar, the Philophosers stone, and such.

Loved this book! Grimpow is a boy who stumble upon the philosopher's stone and has to crack the riddles set up by the Ourobourous society to find the secret to immortality and wisdom. The same secret the Templars smuggled from the Holy Land and defended from King Philip.

Great story -- it was engaging and entertaining. The reader did a pretty good job, although some of the accents were a little overdone. I hope there's going to be a sequel. The ending definitely seemed to be a set-up for more to come.

Set in 14th Century France, Primpow leaves behind his life as a petty thief as he searches to find the philosopher's stone and the mysteries surrounding the knights templar. If I need to say more, this book is not for you!

Despite the fact that the name is really weird, I enjoyed this book; it featured the Knights Templar and tried to supply another theory about the secrecy of the society. Very good.

The gripping story of Grimpow's quest for the secret of the mysterious stone is quite compelling. I would recommend this to fantasy fans who also like mysteries.

three stars at best, the fact that it is about the knights templar earns it two stars and one star for detail but asides from that there is not much else.
