Let me preface this by saying that 9 times out of 10 I absolutely loathe love triangles and I knew going in that this book pretty much embodied the epitome of one; But some of the reviews suggested it might be worth it so I gave it a shot.
It wasn't bad, I give the author props for the Mines of Moria reference and some pretty witty banter. And I gave Emil & Evie's first "hello" 2 hearty thumbs up. But sadly I wound up disliking Evie through most of the book and it only got w More...

After the chat with Angela Corbett and getting to know her and hearing about the book I had to go out and buy it. So I did and after reading it I am happy to say that It’s does not disappoint!!!! It’s been a while since I have come across a book that the heroin is in college instead of High School. I like that she’s a little more grown up, but still a teenage and I can relate to this character more then I can a High School student and I must admit it was one main reason I picked up the book. T

I really wanted to give this book more stars because I absolutely love the cover and the whole concept of the book seemed interesting, but sadly, Eternal Starling didn’t live up to my expectations. I really wanted to like Evie’s character and she seemed really interesting at first. Her car was awesome (seriously, I’d steal that car) and I liked that she was a nice, normal girl and not some big martyr with a tragic past (not that I don’t enjoy those types of characters, but you see a lot of them)

And I thought I had enough of stupid love triangles where supposedly perfect, hot guys went after some girl with nothing, no brain, no conscience but only some lousy talent that the overly-optimistic guys con themselves into believing that it's worth fighting tooth-and-nail over for. Sigh. What happened to the heroic portrayal of women in literature nowadays?

Eternal Starling is part of Angela Corbett’s new paranormal romance series: Emblem of Eternity. This YA book is truly breathtaking! The story follows Evie Starling, Alex Night, and Emil Stone. Although love triangles have been butchered so many times in books, I found myself enjoying their one-of-a-kind, impulsive, and compelling story.

When I first heard about this book, I was drawn to it because of the cover and the synopsis. Although I did have some issues with this book, there are still several aspects that made it enjoyable overall.

It's very rare to read a book with a love triangle that doesn't have an obvious person to root for. Alex it witty and sarcastic, and Emil is bold and confident. They both make claims for Evie's love, and they've both made huge sacrifices that make them "worthy" of her. So which one should she pick? Nail biting nail biting nail biting. I have to say, Emil makes one heck of an entrance. I'm finding myself rooting for the dark horse, so to speak. It's not that I love a bad boy. It's more

Evie has never had much luck in relationships. In fact, they all go pretty horribly. But when she gets lost while hitchhiking she meets Alex, and is drawn to him immediately. Sometimes sweet, sometimes irritating, Evie never knows what to expect from Alex, especially when he suddenly claims that she’s in danger, and it’s because of him. Disappearing as quick as he entered into her life, Evie moves on and meets Emil. What she expects to be just a rebound relationship turns out

I loved that this book had so much to do with fighting for the soul. I love that there is great back round history to all three characters and that there is so much for the reader to take in.
One thing that grabbed me about the story are the characters. I loved that the main characters Evie is out of the loop about things. She may have a past, but she doesn't remember. Ms. Corbett did a great job on giving the pieces to the reader little by little. I like that not all information was du More...

It took a longer than I expected to finish this book. The cover was intriguing and I thought maybe the story would be interesting, but then when I started reading it, I suddenly felt that I'm confused of the story. I'm just having difficulty to grasped why would you feel the same way, the same love to two different persons? and the fact that Evie has some sort of two soulmates? well maybe its part of the whole story itself but I just don't seem to like it.
Well I thought I'm going to like t More...

If you can't stand love triangles then this book isn't for you.. it's just a giant love triangle with reincarnation and good guys Vs bad guys thrown into the mix.
Evie meets Alex Night on her summer holidays before she starts her freshman year in college. Alex of course is rich, tall, handsome, intelligent and secretive. I NEVER read books like this. I usually stay away from anything that has to do with immortals, demons, or reincarnation. But this book was good. There are NO demons, but there are immortals and reincarnation, but if you're like me don't let that deter you because there is nothing weird or creepy about this book. This book reads contemporary with supernatural elements. More...

I loved this story! Could not get enough of it and can't wait to have it in hard copy form! Evie is very witty and will keep you laughing throughout with her inner commentary. I felt very connected to Evie and loved to feel what she goes through as she learns about who she really is. I don't envy Evie her struggles, but I could help take a man off her hands ;)

There are so many things I love about Eternal Starling...where to start? The cover, the author, the writing. As independent and head strong as she is she does not want to admit she needs help getting back to her car when Alex Knight finds her and volunteers to help. But Alex is arrog More...

Eternal Starling was a little slow for me in the first 2/3 of the book. It was not really until the last 1/3 of the book where it drew me in more. I wished there was more going on during the first 2/3 of the book because it made me read slower than expected.
The first 2/3 was more like putting the story in place. Once you get to the last 1/3, it is really where the story unfolds and everything seems to be revealed about the characters and more about the background of who Emil and Alex r More...

This book had me with a timeless love story, soul mates, a well written love triangle, intriguing character history, a butt kicking heroine who can totally hold her own, and 1966 GT Ford Mustang (no joke, I'm a sucker for classic Mustangs). Mix all this together and throw in some history, swoon worthy guys, well developed twists, a bit of action and a conspiracy and you've got one fabulously written debut.
I adored Evie! She's a girl who holds her own, she doesn't put More...

This one's going to be long.
I'd like to start out by saying that for the first half of this book, I feel like nothing really happened. Yes, Evie met Alex and Emil but that just wasn't particularly interesting to me. It was nice to know that they're active but otherwise, I just didn't find it at all compelling and kept wishing we'd just get to the cool stuff already. I appreciate that the author wanted to show us how Evie meets (and gets to know somewhat) these two men but I wish they More...

I had high hopes for this book but half way through I wanted to give up. I almost couldn't finish it but I'm kinda glad I did. This book had a lot of potential. I've never come across a book where a girl had two soul mates. It had a very compelling plot but the romance just wasn't believable. Like when Emil and Evie first met. The way Emil just walked up to Evie and just kissed her. In real life if a total stranger just walked up to you and kissed you you'd think he was a creep right? T

I just couldn't... finish. It wasn't cause the book was bad, but it felt, i dunno, like some part is missing. I found myself bored, and because of that going on goodreads to find another book. But really this book was rather boring, the main character ... boring... the romance... flllllat... plot... so freaking uneventful (I mean things happned but it wasn't written well enough to make your heart pund, or your stomach to flutter)... Well since I didn't finish, don't take my review seriously, may

So, if I had written this, and knew people reading it would review it, I hope they would tell me the strong points of the story and the not so strong points. So here it goes. I'll start with the strong points. This is a very fun, love triangle, paranormal romance, (give me a little mysterious romance, and I'm in). In the last two thirds of the book the writing is very good, with the thoughts and emotions of characters flowing naturually from point A to point B. There is some fabulous confli

Read my interview with Angela Corbett at The Fairytale Nerd.
LOVE:
I love the silly banter between Alex and Evie. I love that they annoy each other, but the reader can feel their amazing connection. Plus, they are funny together. It's just the first chapter and the sarcastic remarks between Evie and Alex are flying off the pages. I also love the fact that Evie asked Alex out. It's a very nice change - girls taking charge. This is the first book i read by Angela Corbett and it wont be the last!
The first half of the book is 3 stars for me. It is more like a introduction to the subject and to the characters of the books such as Evie Alex and Emil. I found it very interesting that Evie was such a normal happy person with friends a normal family and college running. Not a tragic family issue or anything. Just a normal person who complete changed since Alex and Emil comes around.

ETERNAL STARLING: Teen girl is caught between love of 2 boys. Who she chooses will affect her future & an eternal battle that's being waged.
WHAT WORKED
First off, the character of Evie is one of the coolest female young adult characters I have read in a long time. She drives a 1966 Mustang, goes four wheeling and isn't afraid to state her opinions. My favorite scene is when she first meets Alex and is too stubborn to admit that she is lost and needs his help More...

Author: Angela Corbett
Rating: 4/5
Having two soulmates isn't exactly what Evangeline thought of when she was just about to start college. Okay, in reality I am giving this 3.5 stars (or if you follow my review blog...3.5 Bards), but I figured I'd round it up for Goodreads.
Something that I need to state: this book is a romance, young adult romance, but a romance novel none the less. This is not a bad thing, but the synopsis is a little misleading because while there are paranormal elements, the majority of this first installment in the Emblem of Eternity series is focused on setting up the major romantic relationships.
