Eternal Starling (Emblem of Eternity #1)
by
Angela Corbett (Goodreads Author)
A love so strong, even eternity can't separate them. Evie Starling has lived a relatively uneventful life hanging out with friends, gossiping about boys, and driving her 1966 Mustang.
All of that changes when she moves to Gunnison, Colorado, to start college and meets two mysterious men. For centuries, Alex Night and Emil Stone have yearned for Evie but they each have thei...more

Let me preface this by saying that 9 times out of 10 I absolutely loathe love triangles and I knew going in that this book pretty much embodied the epitome of one; But some of the reviews suggested it might be worth it so I gave it a shot.
It wasn't bad, I give the author props for the Mines of Moria reference and some pretty witty banter. And I gave Emil & Evie's first "hello" 2 hearty thumbs up. But sadly I wound up disliking Evie through most of the book and it only got worse as the story...more

Eternal Starling has been high on my list to read ever since its release way back in December, and finally 6 months later, I’ve read it and guess what, I loved it!
This story follows Evie, who has just moved to Colorado where she is about to start college. But when she meets two men; Alex and Emil, who both claim to be her soul mate, her life is suddenly turned upside down and starts becoming dangerous - fast. And I thought I had enough of stupid love triangles where supposedly perfect, hot guys went after some girl with nothing, no brain, no conscience but only some lousy talent that the overly-optimistic guys con themselves into believing that it's worth fighting tooth-and-nail over for. Sigh. What happened to the heroic portrayal of women in literature nowadays?

I really wanted to give this book more stars because I absolutely love the cover and the whole concept of the book seemed interesting, but sadly, Eternal Starling didn’t live up to my expectations. I really wanted to like Evie’s character and she seemed really interesting at first. Her car was awesome (seriously, I’d steal that car) and I liked that she was a nice, normal girl and not some big martyr with a tragic past (not that I don’t enjoy those types of characters, but you see a lot of them)...more
Judged by the Cover: Stunningly Simple
I love the cover of this book. It's stunningly simple and just by looking at it you can tell that romance is a major part of this book. The beautiful typography is just the icing on the cake. The only compliant I have is the mistranslated 'birthmark' on her back, but it's beautiful all the same.
What's Up?
New college student Evie hasn't had the best of luck in the romance department, her last relationship ending in a huge rumor of Evie wreaking his car. Yeah,...more

I am actually reading this book... I usually check the comments by other readers before starting a book, sometimes follow the advice when they say "dont read this book", or "best book ever"..
With Eternal Straling, i just wanted to read it, i liked the covert, and i liked the summary.... but i'm now at page 60, and all i wanna do is smack Alex, because he's such a control freak, and smack Evie because eventhough she keeps saying that she's such an independant woman, she agrees to let him stay at...more

Wow I was really surprised by how much I liked this book!! Evie just moved to start her freshmen year of college and finds herself in the middle of a love triangle where both men have loved her for centuries! Reincarnation doesn't keep them apart, but unfortunately keeps her past memories secret. As she learns who these men are she has to figure out which one is her true soul mate. Both ignite strong feelings from her, Alex her protector who is overbearingly chivalrous and extremely charming and...more
I feel bad giving Eternal Starling only one star since I didn't feel like it was a horrible book... it just wasn't really the book for me. The elements of the book that made me not enjoy it were:
1) I really don't like love triangles and they have become far too common in YA books these days. While I do love some books that have love triangles in them, I feel like I love them in spite of the love triangle rather than because of it. Since the love triangle pretty much is the plot in Eternal Starli...more

After the chat with Angela Corbett and getting to know her and hearing about the book I had to go out and buy it. So I did and after reading it I am happy to say that It’s does not disappoint!!!! It’s been a while since I have come across a book that the heroin is in college instead of High School. I like that she’s a little more grown up, but still a teenage and I can relate to this character more then I can a High School student and I must admit it was one main reason I picked up the book. Eternal Starling is part of Angela Corbett’s new paranormal romance series: Emblem of Eternity. This YA book is truly breathtaking! The story follows Evie Starling, Alex Night, and Emil Stone. Although love triangles have been butchered so many times in books, I found myself enjoying their one-of-a-kind, impulsive, and compelling story.

When I first heard about this book, I was drawn to it because of the cover and the synopsis. Although I did have some issues with this book, there are still several aspects that made it enjoyable overall.
Evie is not your typical girl; she loves hiking, camping, and even helped her father rebuild her '66 Mustang. But other than that, she never suspected that anything was different about her. It's very rare to read a book with a love triangle that doesn't have an obvious person to root for. Alex it witty and sarcastic, and Emil is bold and confident. They both make claims for Evie's love, and they've both made huge sacrifices that make them "worthy" of her. So which one should she pick? Nail biting nail biting nail biting. I have to say, Emil makes one heck of an entrance. I'm finding myself rooting for the dark horse, so to speak. It's not that I love a bad boy. It's more like what...more
Evie has never had much luck in relationships. In fact, they all go pretty horribly. But when she gets lost while hitchhiking she meets Alex, and is drawn to him immediately. Sometimes sweet, sometimes irritating, Evie never knows what to expect from Alex, especially when he suddenly claims that she’s in danger, and it’s because of him. Disappearing as quick as he entered into her life, Evie moves on and meets Emil. What she expects to be just a rebound relationship turns out...more
I loved that this book had so much to do with fighting for the soul. I love that there is great back round history to all three characters and that there is so much for the reader to take in.
One thing that grabbed me about the story are the characters. I loved that the main characters Evie is out of the loop about things. She may have a past, but she doesn't remember. Ms. Corbett did a great job on giving the pieces to the reader little by little. I like that not all information was dumped on th...more

It took a longer than I expected to finish this book. The cover was intriguing and I thought maybe the story would be interesting, but then when I started reading it, I suddenly felt that I'm confused of the story. I'm just having difficulty to grasped why would you feel the same way, the same love to two different persons? and the fact that Evie has some sort of two soulmates? well maybe its part of the whole story itself but I just don't seem to like it.

wow there have been mixed reviews about this one but i love it!!!!! i love both Emil and Alex!!!! you could say that they're my dream guys. honeslty. they're so good! plus i also like Evie! she has a bad ass character and I like that about her! She's not the super clingy and weak type!

I loved this story! Could not get enough of it and can't wait to have it in hard copy form! Evie is very witty and will keep you laughing throughout with her inner commentary. I felt very connected to Evie and loved to feel what she goes through as she learns about who she really is. I don't envy Evie her struggles, but I could help take a man off her hands ;)

There are so many things I love about Eternal Starling...where to start? The cover, the author, the writing. Evie Starling is about to start her freshman year of college in Gunnison, Colorado when she becomes lost hiking in the mountains. As independent and head strong as she is she does not want to admit she needs help getting back to her car when Alex Knight finds her and volunteers to help. But Alex is arrogant and won't...more

Eternal Starling was a little slow for me in the first 2/3 of the book. It was not really until the last 1/3 of the book where it drew me in more. I wished there was more going on during the first 2/3 of the book because it made me read slower than expected.
The first 2/3 was more like putting the story in place. Once you get to the last 1/3, it is really where the story unfolds and everything seems to be revealed about the characters and more about the background of who Emil and Alex really are....more

I really wanted to like this book mostly because I really like the author. It started out interestingly and I thought Evangeline (Evie) was going to be a character I could connect with. However, sometimes she acted more like an 18 year old high schooler than college student. And the love triangle...I usually don't have a problem with them, but this one irritated me. I felt like it killed the momentum of the story.

This month BNC was amazing.
Evie is a young lady who right after breaking up with the jerk of her ex boyfriend and on a hike in the woods meets hunky Alex with whom she imediatly feels chemistry although she also finds him annoying sometimes. And then later on she meets Emil both of them are handsome, charming, romantic and protective.
Although Alex is a true gentelman (he even opens Evie's door for her) although she doesn't think much of it because she's very independant and gets annoyed with hi...more

This book had me with a timeless love story, soul mates, a well written love triangle, intriguing character history, a butt kicking heroine who can totally hold her own, and 1966 GT Ford Mustang (no joke, I'm a sucker for classic Mustangs). Mix all this together and throw in some history, swoon worthy guys, well developed twists, a bit of action and a conspiracy and you've got one fabulously written debut.
I adored Evie! She's a girl who holds her own, she doesn't put up with drama, she'...more

This one's going to be long.
I'd like to start out by saying that for the first half of this book, I feel like nothing really happened. Yes, Evie met Alex and Emil but that just wasn't particularly interesting to me. It was nice to know that they're active but otherwise, I just didn't find it at all compelling and kept wishing we'd just get to the cool stuff already. I appreciate that the author wanted to show us how Evie meets (and gets to know somewhat) these two men but I wish they did more ex...more

Evangeline is the kind of girl who keeps dating one loser after another. Pessimistic on the concept of true love, she goes hiking one day and runs into a really hot guy named Alex. They date, things happen, and then she runs into ANOTHER hot guy: Emil. Turns out, both Alex and Emil are more than what they seem, which means they're of the paranormal-hot-guy variety. People are trying to hunt Evangeline and as it turns out, the big question will not be if she survives, but which guy she chooses.

I had high hopes for this book but half way through I wanted to give up. I almost couldn't finish it but I'm kinda glad I did. This book had a lot of potential. I've never come across a book where a girl had two soul mates. It had a very compelling plot but the romance just wasn't believable. Like when Emil and Evie first met. The way Emil just walked up to Evie and just kissed her. In real life if a total stranger just walked up to you and kissed you you'd think he was a creep right? Though thi...more
I just couldn't... finish. It wasn't cause the book was bad, but it felt, i dunno, like some part is missing. I found myself bored, and because of that going on goodreads to find another book. But really this book was rather boring, the main character ... boring... the romance... flllllat... plot... so freaking uneventful (I mean things happned but it wasn't written well enough to make your heart pund, or your stomach to flutter)... Well since I didn't finish, don't take my review seriously, may...more
So, if I had written this, and knew people reading it would review it, I hope they would tell me the strong points of the story and the not so strong points. So here it goes. I'll start with the strong points. This is a very fun, love triangle, paranormal romance, (give me a little mysterious romance, and I'm in). In the last two thirds of the book the writing is very good, with the thoughts and emotions of characters flowing naturually from point A to point B. There is some fabulous conflict th...more

As a child, Angela Corbett’s most prized possession was a set of read-along books. She used to follow along with the narrator on the stereo and dream of when she would be able to read by herself. Her childhood reading habit led her to consider her future career. However, after consulting with her parents, she realized she had already exceeded hobbit height and since fairies and dragonslayers were...more

“His eyes were warm as he gazed at me. “I would do anything for you, don’t ever forget that.” Emil moved closer, gently tucking the rose behind my ear. The floral scent perfumed every breath I took as Emil brushed his thumb lightly over my lips. “Evie, I lost you once, I won’t
lose you again. Even if it takes a thousand years to earn your trust and win you back, I’ll do it. You’re the only person in my life who matters.
You’re the only person who ever has. I love you. Emil”
