I was really suprised by this book. I'll be honest and say that I sorta feel that university presses are only a step above a vanity press. This was published by Wayne State University and the author is a professor there so I didn't have high hopes for this collection. I was wrong.

All of the stories carry a kick at the end. This works powerfully in some of them, and feels tired in others. The tired ones being driven to the end. The best stories feel deeply personal.
