This book has been in my library for awhile now, but I've never had a chance to read this beautiful story until today. This very tall fir tree has always been passed over when families come to get their Christmas trees. His dream is to become a Christmas tree and when the animals of the forest share all the wonderful things they like about this tree, he truly believes in himself and his self-worth. Great story and artwork. I may just be getting this book for my boys for Christmas. Wonderful...more
A nice idea for a story. One fir tree in the woods is sad because he knows he will not be chosen for a Christmas tree. But, his woodland creature friends tell him how important he is to them, always kindly offering them shelter and comfort. So, they decide to make him a Christmas tree, after all. I appreciate the sentiment and the illustrations are cute enough, but the rhyming scheme seemed a bit awkward to me.
Michigan couple Colleen and Michael Glenn Monroe paired up to create this touching Christmas tale that will surely be a favorite in your household. The rhyming text tells an endearing tale of an old tree that no family has ever picked to be a Christmas tree. The touching story is brought to life by the illustrations by nature artist Michael Glenn Monroe.
cute. Might have been a good time to remind my--as of late-- unruly (ungrateful) son, to show appreciation to those important people in his life (particularly his grandfathers)--so they know he values them. But instead of that conversation (I had in my head) I began to fall asleep until he kicked me out of bed--my two minutes of snuggle time were up.
Very heart warming story about how we should show our appreciation for others all the time. Highly recommend for children 4 and up. Illustrations are beautiful!
The rhyming felt a little "off" as I was reading out loud, but still, the message is a good one.

I love this book - the children and I reread it every year.
Darling story, becautiful artwork.
Darling book!
Such a wonderful story about believing in yourself, believing in your value to others. The artwork was spectacular. A favorite book this year.
Don't love this one. The illustrations are amazing, but the rhyming seems forced. Still, the boys like it.
A great story to read every year.
Very cute illustrations.
