Lissa & Alexa The Novel Lasses
Mar 07, 2012 Lissa & Alexa The Novel Lasses rated it 4 of 5 stars  ·  review of another edition Recommends it for: Adult & Young Adult Reader of Paranormal Romance & Life after Death

I was mesmerized by the cover the first time I laid eyes on it. The brilliant blue coloring and the sculpted “t” in the shape of cross with an eerie smoke rising from the luring sub-text, “Sometimes death is just the beginning…” and finding it was to cress the cross. I was sold and have to read the story beneath such an eye catching cover.

True to the title Lindsey was caught in the between. In a cosmos where she was not tethered to earth nor bound to heaven. Caught in a vast space that defies th...more

I'm not a person that reads romance novels, but this book kept me spellbound or maybe I should say "book bound."

Between heaven and earth. Between the natural and the paranormal. Between old world and modern. Between going to sleep and staying up to read just one more chapter. A quick read, because you won't want to put it down.

A great debut for Cyndi Tefft.

It is June 7, 2011 and I'm reading Between for a second time.

Once I read the summary for BETWEEN, I immediately purchased it for my Kindle. I just felt this strong pull to the story. I started right after it downloaded and finished reading it in less than 4 hours. It's THAT good. BETWEEN is a charming tale that had me smiling one minute and weeping the next. Cyndi Tefft created a world that literally swept me off my feet (as well as a male lead who did the same). With a gorgeous style reminiscent of Diana Gabaldon's Outlanderseries, I was absolutely enthr...more

Oct 12, 2011 Rachel rated it 4 of 5 stars  ·  review of another edition Recommends it for: Adults who love YA novels
As an adult who is still obsessed with YA literature, Between was truly a stand-out novel for me. First of all, the Kindle/Nook version is only 99 cents...ABSOLUTELY worth it. I read the entire story in one sitting because I couldn't wait to see what happened next. The book borders on adult literature but still has a young feel, making it perfect for older teens and adult audiences alike.

Between incorporates the supernatural while still basing itself on the real world. I was incredibly relieved...more

First impressions: The book opens with Lindsey in a car, kissing her boyfriend and not really enjoying it all that much. Hilarious and sweet, and it made me like Lindsey a lot. Then the action picks up and before you know it, Lindsey is dead. It's a great beginning that keeps you glued to the pages.

Lasting impressions: What will stick with me the most about this book, unfortunately, is how offensive I found its moralizing.

Conflicting impressions: This book was full of inconsistency in the charac...more

Between was not what I had expected and I am sorry to say that it just wasn’t my cup of tea. I felt that Between was just too much on the side of romance for me to enjoy and so I found it hard to get into.

Between is classed as a YA paranormal romance novel and I would have to say that it would be more on the threshold of older YA / adult fiction because there were some sexual scenes that while they weren’t completely explicit were enough to turn me away from the book somewhat. I also have to say...more

Review by Felicia Wetzig

I was lured into reading Between by the idea of a "grim reaper with a Scottish accent." The story begins at a tragic accident that has left our main character, Lindsey Waters, dead. As she takes in the scene of the accident she meets a blonde-haired Scot, who looked "like an angel." The mysterious stranger introduces himself as Aiden McRae, and explains that he is no angel but a transporter who escorts the dead to heaven....more

This is a story I've been dying to read for weeks! I'm delighted to say I was finally able to indulge myself over the long Thanksgiving weekend! The action grabs you straight away...it's odd to explain, but though a horrible tragedy is how the romance in this story actually comes about. The characters are thoughtfully fleshed out and are as close to multi dimensional as can be. And not just the two mains, but many of the periphery characters as well. My personal favorite was Father O'Malley. The...more

Between was an interesting and different story that starts the day Lindsey Water dies. The story was so different. It was filled with romance, emotion, and even a little bit of history.

I really enjoyed reading Lindsey story that starts after she dies. I also liked that it touched on religion which not many young adult novels do. It was a nice change yet I think anyone could enjoy this story.

Time Travel. Always a fun part to a story yet in Between it wasn't exactly time travel. They could cast...more

Ok, I really loved this book! Like I am completely in love and not going back, ever! What I like most about this book are the characters. They are unique themselves that they tell their own story! The characters change before the readers eyes into a better person they ever thought they be.

The storyline is another amazing plot where the reader falls into instantly. It is easy to fall into this plot because we've all dreamed what it would be like to die. What happens afterward and such. I really l...more

Between, by Cyndi Tefft, is a new take on the young adult paranormal romance. Vampires, werewolves, angels, demons...those have all been done. But what about a modern American girl and the Grim Reaper? And throw in a kilt and a Scottish accent too. Definitely some new material.

Lindsey Waters is in a terrible car wreck that ends her life. She wakes up in a serene meadow and Aiden MacRae is there to take her to heaven. He has been caught in "between" for three hundred years, transporting souls, bu...more

This book combines endearing characters, plot, scenes and setting to enthrall the reader. It is not a difficult book to read; I finished in just under a day. The plot is gripping; for each human experience there is a different perspective on the afterlife.

I found myself wanting to believe this is the way being "Between" Earth and Heaven would be. The premise is clever, I never even thought about the possibilities of transporters before this book. Now I find myself hoping that there are people l...more

A book about a Scottish hottie, I am so there! (I may be biased in my judgement because well my husband just so happens to be Scottish). Nevertheless, when I read the description of this novel I simply had to read it. So I devoured it in its entirety within a couple of hours because it was truly amazing and fantastic!

I loved how it just jumped into the story straight away and there was no huge build up to everything. It just happened, and then we got to learn more about Aiden and Lindsey and the...more

Between turned out to be pretty good; the writing flowed naturally and I could tell that lots of research was put into the book- about Scotland, about Paris, about, well, everything.

That said, I have to say that I liked the last part a lot more than the beginning and middle of the book. That twist made my heart wrench, but from there I was sucked into the novel much more deeply than I’d been before. Just to clear up things, though: Between does have a religious undertone to it, but it’s used to...more

This was a beautiful love story. I have to admit, it’s not meant for the younger YA crowd. This is definitely Crossover or even closer to Adult Fiction. And I’m not saying this because of the physical relationship between the characters, which did get a bit intimate. Plenty of today's YA pushes the boundaries. I’m talking about the voice and the feel of the novel. But I enjoyed the relationship development between Lindsey and Aiden. And I felt the paranormal element and romance will appeal to th...more

First I just want to say this book is for more mature teens (late teens, early twenties or older) - there is more than just romance that happens in the books, so it may be for more mature audiences.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book - I was drawn in right away with the whole idea of being stuck in the between with a Transporter (someone who helps you on your way between Earth and Heaven). Some people do not enjoy those love at first sight or lust at first sight type stories, but I do. I believe in...more

SPOILER ALERT!

Between is very different than what I am used to reading. Sometimes, like in this case, different is a WONDERFUL thing.

Aiden lived in the 1700's and was refused the glory of walking through the gates of Heaven when he died. Instead, Aiden was stuck between Heaven and Earth as a transporter for three hundred years. Then he met Lindsey. Lindsey died in a car accident so Aiden was supposed to show her the way to Heaven's Gate.

Aiden and Lindsey spent time together in the magical plac...more

Between is a beautiful -if a little passive- love story that flows beautifully and effortlessly.

Lindsey is dead. She died in a car crash and is now stuck in the "between," a place between life and heaven where time and earthly needs do not exist. However, she isn't alone: with her is Aiden MacRae, a man who has spent the last 300 years transporting souls to heaven, but never being aloud into heaven. Lindsey and Aiden begin to grow closer and fall in love. Then something happens to make Lindsey...more

Lindsey Waters is a character that we can all related to at some point in our lives. Trying to figure out who you are and what you want to do, all the while dating someone you aren’t quite sure you really want to be with but are scared to left that part go. When she does find her true love, it proves to be in the most unusual circumstances and there are limits to their love which they come to accept. I am a sucker for ill fated love and this novel definitely fits the mold for this genre.

This may be exactly your kind of story, but it just doesn't work for me.

The MC Lindsey doesn't look back once she meets the love of her death, Aidan, and they fall truly, deeply and madly... by page 40.

This book would have made a better short story IMO and I would have kept reading it if my TBR shelf weren't scary-huge.

Like I said, if you love a classic para-romance with no emotional plot other than desire then this is your kind of read!

This book was surprisingly good. Not a lot of drama, lots of happy, good times between Lindsey and Aiden. They fall in love real fast and it's pretty much smooth sailing. That being said, some people might find this book boring. Between in all about personal preference. Half the readers will like it, half will hate it. But it's worth the chance! Tefft is very detailed about her writing.

I liked it pretty well.
It wasn't my favorite book ever but not for any fault of the author it just wasn't my personal favorite.
Why? Well a couple of reasons, I must say I REALLY appreciated the way Ms. Tefft wrote about God, heaven, and angels. She gave them the reverence they deserve for these things are real and deserve to be referred to with the upmost respect. So that I was on board with all the way and loved the author for keeping with how it should be in that way!
But some things I didn't a...more

When I read the blurb and excerpt of Between I knew this was a book I needed to get my hands on. When I bought this book I had such high hopes. I am so glad I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED. From the first sentence this story had a hold of me and I so didn't want to let go. The way this story started totally threw me for a loop. I didn't expect what happened to happen so early on in the book. I was virtually at the edge of my seat the whole time.

This book was very interesting. I liked it's opening chapter, it was very on the edge. I would definitely say that this book was a very fast paced page turner!

Cyndi really did have an amazing romantic story to write and characters Aiden and Lyndsey were just the right couple to tell it with! In the first chapter Lyndsey dies in an automobile accident and when she wakes up she is caught in Between, that is where she meets Aiden, her escort into Heaven. Although now that she gets a chance to get t...more

Cyndi Tefft lives with her family in the Pacific Northwest where the weather is overcast and rainy, much like the Highlands of Scotland. So she was right at home when she got the chance to visit Eilean Donan Castle.

A self-proclaimed Scot freak, she loved every bit about the trip to Scotland: the people, the kilts, the accents, the fish & chips, the haggis...well okay, not the haggis.
