I was mesmerized by the cover the first time I laid eyes on it. The brilliant blue coloring and the sculpted “t” in the shape of cross with an eerie smoke rising from the luring sub-text, “Sometimes death is just the beginning…” and finding it was to cress the cross. True to the title Lindsey was caught in the between. In a cosmos where she was not tethered to earth nor bound to heaven. Caught in a vast space that defies the logic and sets her memories free allowing her to open her heart and put her on a path that derails her from her destiny. Or does it?

After a tragic car accident Lindsey’s soul is separated from her body where Aiden MacRae a transporter assigned to accompany her to the gates of heaven. With the chains that bound her to earth and the compassion she carries in her heart loosened by the acceptance of death Lindsey finds herself falling for the very transporter taking her from her family and friends she loves. Death as scary as it sounds is peaceful, you are encircled in the ultimate love and the author successfully articulates the soul letting go what it cannot change and still mourn the loss while opening Lindsey’s heart for the true love mate God designed for her.

Time in the between cannot be measured as time in heaven has no measure. One day can feel as a thousand while one second or minute can feel as only a day. No accurate measure of time can be determined though in earthly time it may have been only seconds or minutes in Lindsey’s death. Although to Lindsey and Aiden the measure of time was not enough. The time they did spend together was intimate in the ways of truly knowing the person you are bound to. The spent time sharing their memories growing the love God ordained. Only their time together is violently ended without warning after they are bound together as husband and wife in an old fashion hand-fasting. Will Lindsey return to her husband Aiden? Will Aiden find a way to earth to be with his bride?

In this beautifully woven story of love as you read; your heart will open and your mind will soar right along with Lindsey and Aiden. You will cry, laugh and sigh while eager to turn the page. And when the story ends it will leave you wanting more of Lindsey and Aiden’s story of love that crosses the great expanse.

My only complaint is the ending felt rush compared to the rest of the story. However, I was elated to learn that Lindsey and Aiden’s story will continue in the sequel Hell Transporter.

I'm not a person that reads romance novels, but this book kept me spellbound or maybe I should say "book bound."

Between heaven and earth. Between the natural and the paranormal. Between old world and modern. Between going to sleep and staying up to read just one more chapter. A quick read, because you won't want to put it down.

A great debut for Cyndi Tefft.

Once I read the summary for BETWEEN, I immediately purchased it for my Kindle. I just felt this strong pull to the story. Aiden MacRae, “Grim reaper with a Scottish accent? Ohhh yes!”, had me under his spell from the very beginning. While Lindsey struggled to deal with her death and all that she'd lost, Aiden remained gentle and supportive. My heart broke for both of them as we learn more of their previous lives. Through the magic that is time travel and casting, Aiden and Lindsey were able to share pieces of their time among the living. It was awesome to go on this journey with them. Watching their relationship grow into something so beautiful.The romance scenes were executed in a very classy, yet steamy fashion. While this book is for a more mature YA audience, I appreciated the fact that these young adult characters (if you can count a 300 year old reaper as such) kept to their convictions on this subject. You'll see what I mean.

Speaking of convictions, I very much enjoyed an aspect of the story that may not be everyone's cup of tea: Aiden and Lindsey's trust in God. For me, it was so nice to see faith portrayed sincerely and not in a crazy, religious manner. I loved Aiden's description of his encounter with God after losing a family member.

“It washed all over me and through me, into the floor and then it was gone. I never cried for my Da again after that, and God's presence has been with me ever since.”

So sweet! Even when the unthinkable happens, and our couple is dealt a horrible blow, they remain strong in their faith. At this point, I couldn't read fast enough. I couldn't accept the way the story was heading. I remember it being near one in the morning, and I knew there would be no way I would sleep until the story was over. Talk about intensity!

I really could go on forever about how much I loved this story. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading paranormal/supernatural romance and fantasy genres. BETWEEN was an absolute delight, and I am impatiently awaiting the next installment from Cyndi Tefft, HELL TRANSPORTER. (Hopefully my near-constant 'encouragement' tweets will speed things along.) As an adult who is still obsessed with YA literature, Between was truly a stand-out novel for me. First of all, the Kindle/Nook version is only 99 cents...ABSOLUTELY worth it. I read the entire story in one sitting because I couldn't wait to see what happened next. The book borders on adult literature but still has a young feel, making it perfect for older teens and adult audiences alike.

Overall impressions: I really, truly wanted to like this book. It's a Scottish boy who falls in love with his very own Sassenach (Outlander) and sort of time travels with her! Plus, Lindsey is a college student, and I'm all about more YA fiction for the college set. It had everything going for it, but just couldn't deliver.

My first problem with this story was the insta-love. MAJOR case of it going on here. Lindsey dies in a car wreck, is whisked away by Aiden to this "between" place on her way to heaven. At no time does she seem overly concerned about being dead. She's sad, sure, but not sad enough to miss the fact that Aiden is smoking hot and she kind of wants his bod. This didn't really ring true for me. If I found out I was dead, I would not automatically be concerned with the attractiveness of my reaper.

Lindsey decides that she's really upset about going to heaven still a virgin. And Aiden gets all uppity about deflowering a maiden and it really wasn't working for me. Aiden came off as more jerky than chivalrous or old timey. I get that he would find modern female behavior strange, but when he gets Lindsey make believe drunk and she starts flirting with him he basically calls her a whore. And she doesn't immediately tell him to eff off and run away to heaven. Bad move, Lindsey!

It touched a nerve. On the one hand, Aiden is skinny dipping and lusting after her, but on the other he doesn't want to take her maidenhead or have her acting too much like a floozy. I mean, what a turnoff, right? (Insert eyeroll sprain here.) Similarly, Lindsey is supposed to be a college aged nice girl virgin, but yet she jumps in naked in the lake with Aiden and sleeps with him, and later practically gives him a lap dance after some drinking. Where is the conflict here? She has no qualms about giving up her virginity in the afterlife? It seemed inconsistent with my idea of Lindsey and so I couldn't figure out who these characters were supposed to be.

I admit that I had a very personal reaction early on that may have colored my perceptions a bit. Cyndi Tefft really lost me when describing Aiden's story. Aiden explains that the reason he's spent 300 years transporting souls to heaven while not going there himself is because he committed suicide and God was mad at him. Later in the book, there's another discussion of suicide with similar blatant moralizing about how all suicide victims are selfish and cowardly.

I realize that this is almost always true, but I don't need it flung in my face. The whole concept was handled in a clunky way at best, and in an offensive way at worst. I have been personally touched by suicide, and so having the basis of Aiden's position be a punishment for his suicide just didn't sit well with me. At all. But that's just me, and it may not bother most readers.

The time travel elements were fun to read, though I had a hard time getting into them knowing they weren't actually happening and were memories instead. I did like the idea of "casting," where the characters in Between can make their own reality by just imagining what they want. It was a cool world and an interesting story of two people facing the ultimate obstacle. The story does take an interesting twist into new territory about halfway through, but a lot of the side characters and backstory didn't add much to Lindsey and Aiden's tale. If I had been able to get past the preaching and really believe in these characters and their love I may have enjoyed this book, but in the end I couldn't and I didn't.(less)

Between was not what I had expected and I am sorry to say that it just wasn’t my cup of tea. I felt that Between was just too much on the side of romance for me to enjoy and so I found it hard to get into.

Between is classed as a YA paranormal romance novel and I would have to say that it would be more on the threshold of older YA / adult fiction because there were some sexual scenes that while they weren’t completely explicit were enough to turn me away from the book somewhat. I was lured into reading Between by the idea of a "grim reaper with a Scottish accent." The story begins at a tragic accident that has left our main character, Lindsey Waters, dead. As she takes in the scene of the accident she meets a blonde-haired Scot, who looked "like an angel." The mysterious stranger introduces himself as Aiden McRae, and explains that he is no angel but a transporter who escorts the dead to heaven. Lindsey spends the next few days with Aiden traveling through his distant memories and a few of her own. She learns why he became a transporter as well as why he cannot enter heaven. Almost instantly, the two profess their love for one another.

The story was well written, and despite a few bumps flowed very well stylistically. Tefft also manages to throw some interesting and unpredictable twists in the story. The biggest left me in shock, and feeling empty just like Lindsey. Even the ending wasn't entirely what I predicted, although I was mostly satisfied with the resolution.

The hardest part for me to get past was their "love" for one another. It didn't have time to develop or grow, and since the two barely knew each other it seemed superficial. By page 8, Lindsey, a reportedly inexperienced lover, is already wondering if Aiden wears anything under his kilt, and by page 50, they're already declaring their love after barely two days together (and ironically after watching a younger Aiden making out with a former love interest).

There are many religious themes and ideas in the book, not entirely surprising for a book that deals with death, but it's written from a quite specific religious perspective; God, angels, Heaven, Hell, silent prayers, and firm beliefs against pre-marital sex. However, if you can get past the "love" hurdle, and don't mind a bit of a religious spin, it is a worthwhile read.

My verdict: If you have an e-reader, it's worth the price to buy it (you can also just read it on your computer).

Between was an interesting and different story that starts the day Lindsey Water dies. The story was so different. It was filled with romance, emotion, and even a little bit of history.

I really enjoyed reading Lindsey story that starts after she dies. I also liked that it touched on religion which not many young adult novels do. It was a nice change yet I think anyone could enjoy this story.

Lindsey Waters is in a terrible car wreck that ends her life. She wakes up in a serene meadow and Aiden MacRae is there to take her to heaven. He has been caught in "between" for three hundred years, transporting souls, but never being allowed through the gates himself. Supposedly, the love of one person is supposed to redeem him. Soon after meeting her, he knows that Lindsey is the one.

This was the part of the story that I had difficulty with. Lindsey has just experienced death, but she only seems to be concerned with Aiden and learning more about him. It is instant love somehow, and definitely rushed. Also, there was too much giggling going on for me too. She just died and she just wants to giggle like a school girl? Anyway, getting past that part...

Lindsey and Aiden really do fall in love and vow to make the most of the time they have together, neither one of them knowing exactly how long that will be. Lindsey has "gone towards the light" twice now, but has always been able to stop and go back to Aiden. Then one day, her body feels as if it is full of electricity and she is pulled from the Between-state back to earth, waking up in a hospital bed to a broken and shattered body and soul.

While she struggles to understand why God would take her away from Aiden, she learns more about herself and her family, finally understanding that there was a reason that she came back to her body. She still misses Aiden terribly and wants to be with him. But isn't the only way back to him through death?

Between was definitely a quick read and it pulled me in immediately. Other than the minor flaw discussed above, I enjoyed all of it. Cyndi Tefft successfully captured emotional elements of love found and lost. I did like the ending, however, I wanted a bit more information, too. But there is a sequel, Hell Transporter, that is in the works, (no release date yet that I can find), so hopefully some of my lingering questions will be answered.

Oh, and the copy I received had an inscription from the author. That was a very nice touch and definitely added something.

This book combines endearing characters, plot, scenes and setting to enthrall the reader. It is not a difficult book to read; I finished in just under a day. The plot is gripping; for each human experience there is a different perspective on the afterlife.

A book about a Scottish hottie, I am so there! (I may be biased in my judgement because well my husband just so happens to be Scottish). Nevertheless, when I read the description of this novel I simply had to read it. So I devoured it in its entirety within a couple of hours because it was truly amazing and fantastic!

This was a beautiful love story. I have to admit, it’s not meant for the younger YA crowd. This is definitely Crossover or even closer to Adult Fiction. First I just want to say this book is for more mature teens (late teens, early twenties or older) - there is more than just romance that happens in the books, so it may be for more mature audiences.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book - I was drawn in right away with the whole idea of being stuck in the between with a Transporter (someone who helps you on your way between Earth and Heaven). Some people do not enjoy those love at first sight or lust at first sight type stories, but I do. I thoroughly enjoyed this book - I was drawn in right away with the whole idea of being stuck in the between with a Transporter (someone who helps you on your way between Earth and Heaven). Some people do not enjoy those love at first sight or lust at first sight type stories, but I do. I believe in soul mates and the possibility of finding that one true love, so this book really made me breathless when Lindsey falls so passionately in love with Aiden, her Transporter. (PS I am a sucker for the name Aiden). It was like they were drawn together by magnets. They just had this natural flow about them from the moment they met - it was just like watching any couple falling in love, but maybe on fast forward a bit. Who could blame her though - one look at the smoking hot Highlander and I think any girls heart would melt. Something about a man in a kilt with an accent. Hmmm.

Lindsey is supposedly the one who can help Aiden redeem himself to God for his sins. They have no idea how this will work and are worried everyday that she will be taken to Heaven too soon, so they spend every waking moment together learning about each other and time travelling to memories to share with each other - including Versailles, Paris, Scotland and Seattle. My heart broke with the couple when they are torn apart, but forces unknown. I literally could feel the pain they each must have been feeling to have found true love and then have it ripped away so quickly.

Following Lindsey through her grief was tormenting, because it felt so real. It is written exactly how I imagine it would feel. Such a deep pang in your heart and despair that feels never ending. There is a line that Father O'Malley says to Lindsey when she seeks him out for guidance that struck me.

"When I perform a marriage ceremony," he said. "I use the phrase 'Til death do you part,' but in your case, life is what has parted you and Aiden." --- "You need to grieve, my child. You have lost the man that you love, whether through life or death."

I think the separation is probably much harder then if they actually had lost one another to true death. This story is absolutely the sweetest story and I shed quite a few tears along the way hoping and wishing they would somehow find one another again. I can't wait until the sequel comes out to see what the future holds for Lindsey and Aiden.

Between is very different than what I am used to reading. Sometimes, like in this case, different is a WONDERFUL thing.

Aiden lived in the 1700's and was refused the glory of walking through the gates of Heaven when he died. Instead, Aiden was stuck between Heaven and Earth as a transporter for three hundred years. My Lord I don't even know where to begin on how to put into words how absolutely magnificent and wonderful this novel was * girly squeal*. This book took my breath away so many times I lost count I swear. I had meant to read this book ages ago and now I'm very very happy I finally did. The moment I started this book I couldn't put it down for one second. I think I stayed up almost every night till 3:00 am because I was so absorbed in the magnetism of every written word. This book is so spell bounding and heartfelt, not to mention saucy, with brilliant humour. Cyndi truly knows how to captivate her readers and get them begging for more. If fallen in love with Lindsey and Aiden's story, I haven't been captivated by a love story in awhile now, especially where I love both characters. She did an amazing job at writing her character, Lindsey is caring with a touch of spunk. She's so endearing and lovable that you can't help but care for her. While Aiden is just spectacular, otherworldly, sexy, smart and sassy. Who wouldn't love a Scot who knew nothing about this world and had questions for everything. His accent and his knowledge of the world would blow your mind, that I promise you( mine was blow).

This book gripped me in so many aspects I wouldn't even know where to being. Every fleeting heartbeat they experience I felt them in my own heart. God I don't even remember the last time I cried so much over a book, my heart broke over and over again every time Lindsey's did, not to mention I was thinking about what Aiden must be feeling so that tore at me :'(. I'm so glad I keep reading when it got sad because that's when you really saw how much these two truly and how deep their love ran. This novel has left me speechless and wanting to read the second book right away.

I promise you that you will not be disappointed if you read this intoxicating book, I mean it!! I could barely sleep because I kept wanting to know what would happen(very restless nights haha). My sleep deprivation was well worth it. You get to let your self go while reading this novel and just enjoy the pure wonders of the enchanting realms and heart pounding romance of the strangest sort. Their love will make no sense at first or seem so unlikely viable but eventually you won't question it.

If I could give this novel 20 stars I would so sadly I can only give it 5..
This is a phenomenal piece of work, so don't miss out READ IT!! ^_^

Also if you have then you should read the second instalment called Hell Transporter

Lindsey Waters is a character that we can all related to at some point in our lives. Trying to figure out who you are and what you want to do, all the while dating someone you aren’t quite sure you really want to be with but are scared to left that part go. When she does find her true love, it proves to be in the most unusual circumstances and there are limits to their love which they come to accept. I am a sucker for ill fated love and this novel definitely fits the mold for this genre.

This may be exactly your kind of story, but it just doesn't work for me.

The MC Lindsey doesn't look back once she meets the love of her death, Aidan, and they fall truly, deeply and madly... by page 40.

This book would have made a better short story IMO and I would have kept reading it if my TBR shelf weren't scary-huge.

Like I said, if you love a classic para-romance with no emotional plot other than desire then this is your kind of read!

This book was surprisingly good. Not a lot of drama, lots of happy, good times between Lindsey and Aiden. They fall in love real fast and it's pretty much smooth sailing. That being said, some people might find this book boring. Between in all about personal preference. Half the readers will like it, half will hate it. But it's worth the chance! Tefft is very detailed about her writing.

I liked it pretty well.
It wasn't my favorite book ever but not for any fault of the author it just wasn't my personal favorite.
Why? Well a couple of reasons, I must say I REALLY appreciated the way Ms. Tefft wrote about God, heaven, and angels. She gave them the reverence they deserve for these things are real and deserve to be referred to with the upmost respect. So that I was on board with all the way and loved the author for keeping with how it should be in that way!

Lindsey Water is your typical 19 year old who just recently started collage and who didn't have her whole life figured out. Her parents haven't been divorced all that long and her relationship with her boyfriend Ravi wasn't everything she wanted it to be. When she meets Aiden she soon discovers he is everything she ever wanted in life.

Aiden MacRae died over 300 hundreds years ago and he spends his afterlife transporting souls from earth to heaven. He is there to help then transition and accept their death so that they may be ready when God calls them to heaven. Aiden never expected to fall for Lindsey so hard and so fast.

Aiden and Lindsey share a deep connection that transcends all things. They also know that their time together can't last and so they try to make the most of the time that they do have. Aiden shares memories of Scotland and Lindsey shows Aiden all the new things that he has never been privy to while he was being a transporter.

This book had me feeling all kinds of emotions from wanting to fling my book across the room (but since it was an e-book on my Tablet I thought that wouldn't be good....lol) to crying like a little girl. To me that is the sign of an extraordinary book. If a story is able to elicit such emotions in me then that is a testament to the author's ability to tell a great story. Cyndi told a phenomenal story that keeps you wanting to read it even after it is over. On a scale from 1-10 I give Between a VERY BIG, ENTHUSIASTIC 20. I know, I know I am off my scale but you don't understand how AMAZING this story is. If you believe in destiny, true love, love conquers all, and fate you really do NEED to read this book. EVERYONE needs to run out and grab a copy of Between and let Aiden and Lindsey's story restore your faith in love. Be on the look out for Hell Transporter (Between Series Book #2) when it comes out. This book was very interesting. I liked it's opening chapter, it was very on the edge. I would definitely say that this book was a very fast paced page turner!

After getting to know Lyndsey, Aiden wanted her to see some of his past, childhood memories. I enjoyed the little intricate details about visiting Aiden's past thoughts deep into the early 1700's. He would take Lyndsey back in time just by thinking about it, this was called casting.

Okay, so everything I just said sounds promising right??? Well, let me go deeper...

I loved the way this book was written, it was just a little too fast for me. The heavy romance between Aiden and Lyndsey was pretty much 'till death do us part on page thirty. That is quite fast paced in my opinion. It did not, however take away from the book. I ignored the fact that I felt like I was whizzing through this book and just enjoyed it! If I had one thing to say to Cyndi Tefft it would be... "take your time with Hell Transporter, I would like to get to know the characters just a little more."

This book was only 246 pages long, so you can see the need to get the story going quickly. I was just dissappointed because I wanted the story to last longer, slow down, entice me a bit, drag me in... you get the idea. For a quick read though, this book was off the charts romantic and with the time travel, a must read!!! I sat down and read it in two and a half hours, that's only two glasses of red wine. Haha.

Look forward to the sequel Hell Transporter coming soon!
