This first Holiday short story was obviously not my favorite of the two. I haven’t had any exposure with Sands as an author, so that might account for me having a hard time grasping her vampire lore and method of developing her story.

In The Gift we meet Teddy who is a sixty four year old, soon to be retired chief of police that finds himself stranded with no provisions and electricity after a snow storm. He stumbles across Katr

I absolutely loved Jeaniene's short story, "Home for the Holidays". Also note, this short story is more like a short novel, coming in at 40K words or so.

You get to see a new dimension to Cat & Bones' relationship, and they are achingly sweet in this installment. They nearly had me in tears a few times! The gang is all together but Cat and Ian actually take the spotlight and have the most 'face' time. Ian lovers, you will not be disappointed!

YES!! Back to the Cat and Bones that we so love...finally! The last two books had lost their "edge" for me but this one brings it all back. My only complaint is that it's too short.

As the title says, Cat and Bones are home for the holidays starting off with Bones' surprise birthday party. When Annette doesn't show up, Ian goes to investigate. That leads to an unknown vampire showing up at Cat and Bones' house.

A Bite Before Christmas was an odd pairing of holiday novellas served up with a fangy twist - Sand's Argeneau vampires are light humorous paranormal romances and Frost's Night Huntress stories are wise cracking sexy urban fantasy. I am a fan of both, but no sure that they belong together and - I have to ask - why are they together in hardback? Anyway on to the important stuff...

THE GIFT is Lynsay Sands' contribution to the duology and it is part of her Argeneau series. Katricia Argeneau knows the instant that she meets Teddy Brunswick that he is her life mate. But since he is mortal, she needs to slowly convince him that they are fated to be together. Revealing that she is a vampire won't be easy and making her accept her will be even harder. However, the snug confines of their cozy cabin are sure to bring them closer together.

The Gift was the first story I've read by Sands, even though I've been eyeing her work for quite some time! It was a very sweet story that I definitely enjoyed, even if there is a bit of insta-love going on thanks to the whole life mate thing. It was really interesting to learn more about this different world though and I'm curious e

I have only read J. Frost's story, "Home for the Holidays" so far, but I LOVED it! I think that JF is so talented in the creation of her novellas and short stories. They feel every bit as complete and whole as her full-length novels, only compact. And this novella was no exception. The story is riveting and excited, with just enough detail to intrigue, but not overwhelm. It was wonderful to see Cat fighting for Bones, and I was awed at Bones's strength in this story. We know that he is an extrem ...more

Everytime Cat and Bones make an appearance it is like meeting up with old friends you haven't seen in a while and feels it was yesterday the last time you got together. That is the feeling I get everytime I read about Cat and Bones, a warm, cozy feeling that starts to develop right after the first paragraph. Cat and Bones never lose their appeal and have a spellbound effect so the reader immediately becomes immersed and lost in the pages and becomes part of the story.

There’s nothing like a Christmas themed book to put me in the holiday spirit and this anthology is no exception. I’m a newcomer to Lynsay Sands’ writing but a long-time fan of Jeaniene Frost’s so this novel was a nice mix of new and old for me. I wasn’t lost by starting at book 15.5 in the Argeneau series but I did find the storyline a little odd. On the other hand, I’m caught up in Frost’ Night Huntress series and couldn’t help but get a little giddy at the chance to che

- Very satisfying cat and bones and IAN (I adore him :D) novella -

I only read 'Home for the Holidays'. When I finally get around to reading the Argeneau Series I will head straight back to this book for that Novella.

Home for the Holidays was amazing. The story was brilliant and seeing Cat and Bones again always makes me smile. I liked that Cat and Ian had the biggest parts to play. I have always loved their banter and I was so happy to see Ian getting so more page time. Ian never dissapoints and there were some hilarious scenes with him and Cat. Like Ian pu

Another short story about Cat and Bones. As the case usually is with Jeaniene Frost it has great plot, skillful writing, awkward and funny scenes and some English-accented hotness.

Unfortunately the lately tendency continues and the relationship between Cat and Bones is boring.

There were some revelations about Bones human family. Quite unexpected family members were found.

The highlight of this book was my favorite Ian. Amoral, cocky

4.5 stars for the Jeaniene Frost story.

In typical Cat & Bones fashion, and Jeaniene Frost style, the story was exciting, gave us significant character development with characters we have come to love (and perhaps even some we love to dislike), fattened parts of the world and lore up, and opened up some possibilities for long arc storylines, all wrapped up in a very satisfying ending.

I also read the preview peek at the new Vlad series (Prince of Darkness) and I'm really looking forward to t

I only read the Night Huntress part, and LOVED it!!!
What a great side story to this series. Frost made a story that frankly I never would have thought happening! So much happens in this little novel. I was surprised in more ways than one and of course always love the chemistry between Bones and Cat. Ian was remarkable in this book! Seriously his lines are just too much! Thinking about him I'm laughing now. It's def. a must read for Bones and Cats fans.

Awesome story from Jeaniene Frost in this anthology. Lots of breakneck action and sentiment. Ian was absolutely terrific in this. Loved finding out more about Bones background.

Also read the Lynsay Sands story. I had not read anything of hers before, and the novella in this book was a good introduction to her work. I may have to read more of her Argeneau series.

Overall, very enjoyable read.

Rating for Night Huntress 6.5: OK, this was superb. Cat and Bones and... IAN? at the top of their game. I haven't seen them this strong, this fun, this sexy and clever for a few books now, and it's a joy to witness.

I don't often think novellas are must-reads, but this one can't be missed. It's just too good.

This book had two stories by two different authors. The first story, The Gift is by Lynsay Sands. It tells the story of Teddy Brunswick, a police cheif from a small town and Katricia Argeneau. They are trapped at a cabin during a snow storm. I've read many of Sands' Argeneau series and was very delighted to come across this one. This book was slightly different from her other books as Katricia came into the story knowing that Teddy might be her life mate. I was very pleased and would give this s ...more

I have to admit that I only read Jeaniene's story so far.
And of course it was awesome. I love Cat and Bones and as far as I'm concerned they can do no wrong. In this story Cat is once again our Bones and the others are under some kind of mind control.
Fantastic read...
Highly recommend this book.
An okay "Argeneau vampires" story, and a pretty good "Cat and Bones" story with some punch to it. I was amused what seemed like a small homage to "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" in the Frost story, though it ended on a rather sad note for a Christmas collection.

Ian made my day :D he is so funny and hot(and horny all the time :D). Didn't expect that bits and pieces about Bones' past but they sure were interesting!

I haven't started Night Huntress series yet, so the rating is based only on Argeneau half of the book - The Gift by Lynsay Sands.
Teddy Brunswick is one of my favourite characters of Port Henry's inhabitants, a faithful friend of Elvi and Mabel, the guardian of law in the vampire-friendly little town. He's been introduced in The Accidental Vampire and later appeared in The Reluctant Vampire, Vampire Valentine, The Gift and The Immortal Who Loved Me. The Gift centers around him and his lifemate, K

The Bite Before Christmas contains two short stories/novellas, one from Jeaniene Frost and one from Lynsay Sands. Both stories were excellent.

The Gift (Argeneau #15.5) is a paranormal romance with the high heat level you expect from Lynsay Sands. I was worried that this might have an ick factor due to the lead male's age, but I got past that quickly. A fun romp in a holiday snowstorm that's a perfect quick read for the holidays.*

The Bite Before Christmas
The Gift by Lynsay Sands
Teddy Brunswick had watched his two best friends, Elvi and Mable, find life mates and they were both more like twenty-five year old rather than looking like him at sixty-four. He envied them. They had youth and love in their lives and he was just looking at a lonely life of retirement. Christmas made him feel like a charity case as he would be invited to join other families so he would not be alone. When Marguerite offered him a cabin this Christm

This book is a twopher.....The first story is by Lynsay Sands. A little novella based in her Argeneau world. The second story is by Jeaniene Frost and is a Night Huntress story.

The Gift by Lynsay Sands: Barely a 2 Star read for me. To be perfectly honest I have never read anything by this author and after reading this short novella I probably won't bother. Let's just say I could barely get through the 60 page story without wanting to just fall asleep. BORING. I didn't give a crap about any of it

I'm still excited about this book even after reading it. I was unfamiliar with Sands work but heard good things about what she writes. I was not disappointed either. Her story was cleverly crafted and the characters were believable. Just putting Sands work with my favorite author Frost. You've got one killer combo for a book in a Christmas setting. This book will definitely be one that I'll return to again and again. Here are the highlights of each story:
