Margaret Mead not only studied tribal peoples 12,000 miles from her home, she also studied the anthropologists who were studying them. These letters contain some of her keenest observations, and reveal how deeply she felt about her husbands (all three), her friends (Samoan and New Yorkers) and her lovers (am I the only anthropology major that didn't know that she and Ruth Benedict were lovers?). A fascinating collection.
