I just loved this book! It's a quick easy read, and the characters are so endearing, especially the protagonist, Wanda Nell Culpepper and her best friend, Mayrene.
Wanda Nell lives in Kozy Kove Trailer Park, with her two teenage daughters and her grandson. She works two jobs to support her family, in the evenings she waitresses at the local diner, and she works third shift stocking shelves at the Budget Mart. Nothing comes easy to her, and she tries so hard to stay postive and grate More...

Book 1 in the Trailer Park Mystery. This is the definition of a fun, light mystery. It's a book full of GREAT characters and a very entertaining story. Wanda Nell is a single mom working two jobs to try and support her kids and grandson. Trouble shows up at her trailer house one night in the form of her ex husband Bobby Ray. He is flashing a lot of questionable money and is found dead the next morning. Things only get worse when she is accused of the murder and people start showing up looking fo

Wanda Nell Culpepper is a Southern Lady trying to raise her three children, TJ. Miranda and child, and the youngest Juliet. Wanda Nell has an ex-husband and that is how she likes him, ex.
Wanda Nell's life is hard but doable. She works two jobs to support the family. She has solid friends at the trailer park (home) and lives in Mississippi.
The murder crime happens at almost the beginning of the book and was predictable, in that, it was the ex-husband, I mentioned earlier. Why More...

I enjoyed this book. I liked that she was a hard working mother, working two jobs, and one was stocking at a store on third shift. The book was set in Mississippi. She didn't make me want to throw the book by making Mississippi look bad.
I did figure out one part of the mystery ahead of time. If a person is too helpful or too good to be true, they usually are.

All I can say is yikes, and my expectations weren't that high. So there I am, browsing through the library shelves, looking for a Janet Evanovich that I haven't yet read. A call out on the shelf highlights the books by Jimmie Ruth Evans as having "a heroine similar to Stephanie Plum." Only if Stephanie Plum became an irrational, not-too-clever heroine. I didn't find the book at all funny, the mystery wasn't all that mysterious and it became very annoying that the characters constan

Little forlorn is to live in a trailer in the southern states is what we learn from this book, also we learn that you have to make do with what youve got...wanda nell is likeable without the overkill on that part that usually is written into cozys, like how charitable, and fun, and beautiful the main character is...nope wanda nell is just tough stuff...when i grow up i want to be her, just with an education and money...;)

A good ol gal that just seems to have the worst luck finds herself looking for the killer of her no good ex husband whom she found with her yard decoration in his neck. Along the way she works two job, rasies two daughters, one who is a little too much like good ol dad, helps with her grandson, fights with her crazy or so seeming mother in law and finds a chance at new love.
fun read with some laugh out load momments

This was a fun start to a series! The story of a woman working two jobs to pay for her double wide trailer and support her two teen daughters and 1 yr old grandson. She comes home one morning from her second job to find her ex-husband murdered. Since one of his best friends is the lead investigator, she decides she needs to figure out who killed her ex or she'll wind up the only suspect.

I lived in Oklahoma for several years. I even lived in a trailer park in Oklahoma.
I believe that's why the dialogue was annoying to me after about 30 pages. No one *I* know talks like this! The mystery was well done, I simply had to skim thru the characters talking to get to the resolution and not toss the book across the room.

When my friend told me there was a mystery series set in a Mississippi Trailer park, I had to find a copy! A lot of fun to meet Wanda NEll Culpepper and tail along as she figures who stabbed her rotten ex-husband to death using a flamingo lawn ornament. I look forward to reading more in the series.

I loved this book! It's a perfect white-trash mystery complete with a no-good ex-husband, a crooked local deputy and domestic disputes resulting in screaming and violence. You can't beat that, I don't care who you are.

This is the first in a Trailer Park Mystery. I loved this light mystery. The main characters were wonderful. Even though there was murder, etc. I still found myself smiling at some of the antics and comments in the story.

What can I say -- it was enjoyable and I couldn't put it down. I like a good mystery, and I cared about the characters. Not literature, but I would read more by this author.

The premise sounded fun and funky but ended up more miserable. I give it a pass.

This was a decnt mystery inspite of the overdone stereotyping of southerners.

This was a cute book. I liked the whole trailer park idea and I related to the main character as she worked so hard for her kids. The cop was so annoyingly mean to her and the ending was unexpected that way. I liked the fact that she was allowed to mourn her ex-husbands passing in the end and that made her more real I thought. The best friend is cool and I hope she is in the next books in the series more and there is more time developing her and going into her background etc. I plan on reading m

I really like Wanda Nell and Mayrene.
I was a little unsure about the book when I started it, but by the end these ladies were my friends.

Talk about clichés. Trailers, plastic flamingos, pregnant teenagers, shotgun toting neighbors…even the names are evocative of what some would call “pure white trash.” I got a good giggle out of it at first, but it got pretty predictable. Not sure I liked the 180-degree turn Elmer Lee’s feelings took in the last page of the book. We’ll see if I read the next one.

This little series of "trailer trash" small town Southern cozy mysteries are surprisingly fun. The characters are colorful and funny and the bad guys aren't unimaginable for a small town. Fans of Stephanie Plum will like the hijinks and humor, and mystery readers will appreciate the whodunit (if they can get past the trappings of the "theme").

Very enjoyable mystery with an engaging protagonist who lives in a trailer park and works two jobs to support her family. When her deadbeat ex is found near her home with a lawn flamingo through his chest, she must investigate to prove she didn't do it. The writer has great respect for his characters.

Liked this book,it had a lot of humor in it.So appropriate that the murder weapon is a flamingo yard ornament! I'd say it's a light read.

Not a bad little read for a few hours of relaxation. I'll probably read a couple others and see how it goes.

Too cliched for my taste. Predictable drivel. Could have been fun if I was more in the mood for fluff.
