In my opinion, an excellent time travel book that didn't have me confused with the "when" in the story. There wasn't a time stamp before each chapter started, there weren't 473957292 versions of the main characters floating around.
There was an amazingly swoony boy and the girl he absolutely adores. And it was phenomenal.
Also? Dibs on Bennett. :D

This book received SO many raving reviews, and I feel like I'm the odd one out. But to sum it all up, I just didn't get it. I think this book had a lot of potential, but there were just too many holes and inconsistencies.
Out of all the young adult time travel books I have read, I think this book impressed me the least. And you know that a book is unmemorable when you sit down to write a review a few days later, and you have already forgotten a lot of what you have read.

So, I'm definitely onboard for the sequel, because there's something that sucks you in with this story. It's engaging and definitely entertaining and twisty regarding the plot.
HOWEVER...
The is much in this story that's problematic:
1) The time-travel aspect is weaksauce. There are few "rules" to the time travel beyond that it's a bad idea to alter the past and that you can only travel within your own life...more

Have you ever read a book that filled something inside you that you didn't even know was empty, opened your eyes to aspects of your own life that needed reexamining? Have you ever sat for long moments after finishing a book, letting the emotions it brought to your surface swell inside you until they crash over you, like a wave? Have you ever missed the characters you were reading about, because they meant so much to you? If so, then you know what my experience reading Time Between Us was like....more

I can admit it... I haven't really read a lot of time travel books, so I was a bit leery going into this. I don't know what I was thinking. I absolutely loved it.
Anna lives in 1995 in Chicago.
Bennett lives in 2012 in San Francisco.
They were never supposed to meet.
Bennett has an incredible ability to travel through time. There are a few catches to the whole process, but as long as he stays within the years he's been alive, he's never had any trouble, and I thought this was a wonderfu...more

Anna runs at the track at Northwestern every morning. One morning she sees a guy smiling and watching her and then when she turns around he is gone. That guy happens to be the new boy at school Bennett. Strange thing is he swears he has never been to Northwestern and wasn't watching her. Anna knows she saw him and swears he recognizes her name but keeps pushing her away. Bennett runs hot and cold but Anna feels very drawn to him.

Anna lives in Chicago and the year is 1995. One day, while she is doing her early morning jog, she sees a guy staring at her on the bleachers. She smiles, and when she looks back at him, he's gone. There is proof that he was there, but there are no footprints, just impacted snow where he was sitting. Lat...more

Despite the abilities of its male protagonist, this is a book that focuses much more on the budding love story of its two young leads rather than the mechanics of their meeting. For better or worse, I spent much of this book – particularly in the first half- being reminded over and over again of how similar it is to “Twilight” by Stephenie Meyer. Yes, that’s a title that’s uttered with a lot of baggage nowadays, but I really enjoyed readin...more

"I don't think I can go back to a life without you."
My face goes blank and I just stare at him. " What are you saying?"

What's even harder is when distance is not the only thing that is keeping you apart.

Time Between Us is a light and wonderful book about two people, not only separated by distance, but also time. A story about do-overs and messing with time to change the bad choices made or the unwanted events. A story about defying the laws of time just to be with the person you love. But I think it is a story of finding where your "fight" is or getting it back in case you lost it along the way. From the words of the author herself, "At its heart, this is a story about choosing the kind of life...more

A sweet romance that defies time and space. Time Between Us mixes romance and time travel in a way that will touch your heart and make you smile.
Anna and Bennett are the type of characters you adore in a novel. They are both sweet, good kids who like a little adventure, but ultimately are kind and good hearted. The one problem I had with them was the insta-love thing. I felt that Anna fell for Bennett extremely fast and that overshadowed some of her decision. She seemed a bit naive a...more

When you think about it, every day is made up of thousands of tiny, little moments, one triggering another. How many times during the day could one of those moments, if done differently, change the course of the events in our lives? How could you identify what could become a defining moment, a crossroad, that if changed would take us left when we were meant to go right? How seductive would it be to know that if something didn't work to your advantage that you could just go back and change it?

One of my earliest movie memories is of Alfre Woodard going “Look at my butt! Look at my butt!” as she proved what an airhead some other character’s past girlfriend was. While likely not an accurate memory of a scene out of Body and Souls, I look back on that movie with a fondness. It was my first older person movie that I watched pretending not to be too into it since it was my mother’s pick. Perhaps it was the whole look at my butt thing that piqued at me, (scandalous I thought how an ol...more

This was, hands down, my favorite book this year! If nothing better comes along from now until the end of December then this book with be my choice of the year for 2012! I do not make these types of statements lightly; it takes a fantastic book to blow me away like this! I have found an author who is worthy of this award. After I had finished reading the book I just held it in my hands and thought to myself, “This was a phenomenal book!” In fact, I am still thinking about Anna and Bennett’s stor...more

Anna's a runner who was sure she spotted a boy sitting on a bench watching her one minute and poof disappeared in the next instant, only to turn up at her high school in the form of new student, Bennett who she felt an attraction to but he denied being on the bench.

One day, Anna is running and sees a stranger watching from the stands – some dude with shaggy hair and a ball cap. He’s gone later, and she discovers there are no foot prints leading to or from his seat. Later still, she sees the same guy at school in her Spanish class, and he doesn’t seem to know who she is. Now we readers know something is afoot, and just wait for Anna to figure it out. This particular reader has read a few time travel books and is thinking, hmmm, maybe this is another one.

I just read the advance copy of Time Between Us which comes out in October.
Anna is a high school student in the Chicago area in 1995. She has two working parents who love her and encourage her running. She works part time in her dad's bookstore, has great friends and is a "good" kid. She meets a young guy who appears out of nowhere at the track and is then admitted to her high school. Bennett has a lot of secrets and she falls for him (of course). His unique abilities of bouncing back and forth...more
Time Between Us started off slow for me, but along the pages it turned into something more. The story was kind of slow paced until nearly half-way through the book. Then, everything started to develop and the connection between the two main characters began to build in just the sweetest way.

Time Between Us was a wonderful aside from the typical paranormal romance. I have to thank NetGalley for the opportunity to read this wonderful book ahead of time, and say that when it comes out, it should be bought and placed on the shelf to be read over and over.
Short summary of the plot: Bennett can travel in time. He does his best not to change things, just to experience things. He has limits to the way he can travel (won't ruin these for the reader). Unfortunately, Bennett's careful rule...more

I didn't read the back of this book before I started it. I didn't read a description of any kind and I'm still trying to decide if I'm happy about that, or if I wish I would have known what to expect. Because this was definitely not what I was expecting. If you've seen The Lake House, that's basically what I thought this book was going to be, but it was completely different. (Okay, maybe not completely different, they're still two people from two different times, but it was different-er than I...more
Wow, so where to start? I came across this book one day while surfing the book blogging world and right away, I made it my WoW pick for the week, which can be found on my blog. I fell in love with the cover (so pretty!) and when I went on to read more about it on Goodreads, I decided that this was a book I absolutely had to read! After all, Anna and I have some wicked freaky similarities. She's a cross country/track runner, so am I, plus she lives in suburban Chicago just like me! Weird, but sup...more

This is such a hard book to discuss because when I start talking about the plot, you'll probably be like, "Ugh, it's like The Lake House" or "So...YA version of The Time Traveler's Wife?" And sort of, yes. But not really.
This book is set in 1995, but it's funny---I didn't at all miss the fact that there weren't cell phones and nobody spent time online. (I mention that on purpose.)

Well, what do ya know?? I am a fan of time travel.
I really had no idea what to expect from this novel. I skimmed over from reviews and most everyone seemed just tickled by it…
For me, reading is an emission to another world. I crave the feeling of being lost in the characters and story line. It’s important for the author to be strong and convincing when dealing with slightly fictional plots.
I never once felt labored while reading. Tamara Ireland Stone could have been...more
