I just finished this fast paced action filled drama about the work of the secret Service Special Agents. This is one suspenseful novel that I had a hard time putting down, even though I knew I desperately needed to sleep. I must say, this book was an unexpected, joy to read! It didn’t read like your typical Christian Romance/Suspense book (You didn’t know the entire plot very early in the book, and it didn’t play out typically either). I love this genre in general, but I will definitely seek out more of DiAnn Mills’work.

I received this e-book free from NetGalley in exchange for a book review. Attracted to Fire is a great book! Once I started reading it, I couldn’t put it down. If you are looking for a very suspenseful page-turner, this is it! Somebody is responsible for all the trouble and nobody can trust anybody.

Bob Lawson and Meghan Connors are assigned to protect Vice-President Hall’s daughter, Lindsay. VP Hall becomes President when the President’s cancer spreads. Lindsay is a drug addict and alcoholic. Ash Zinders is the agent in charge and he doesn’t like female agents. Sparks fly when Meghan and Ash get together at the Dancin’ Dust Ranch where Lindsay is taken for rehab and to be watched. While they are there, an agent is killed, a scorpion ends up in Meghan’s bed, a ranch hand and the cook are killed. Does Lindsay hold the key to what is happening? Seems since Lindsey's behavior has made the news channel there have been death threats issued against Lindsey. It seems they will stop at nothing to make sure that she is silenced one way or another, even if innocent people and agents die in the process.

Special Agent Meghan Connors has a personal interest in wanting to see Lindsey make it through her rehab successfully. Her adopted sister also had substance abuse issues and between her and her mother, were always unable to get her to stay clean. Meghan believes that she can reach Lindsey where others have failed if only she can get her to open up and trust her. But it seems no matter how hard Meghan tries, Lindsey is keeping something hidden that she believes no one can stop.

In charge of the operations at the Texas Ranch is Ash Zinders, whose abrasive personality doesn't seem to win him much favor from those that work with him. He is working on keeping Lindsey safe while on his watch and will stop at nothing to ensure that happens. Waiting for him if he succeeds in this endeavor is the promotion to protecting the president, and he won't let anything come between him and success, not even Meghan Connors, whom he feels is a wasted agent on this case. Ash feels that a women should never be allowed to work for the Secret Service since they are simply too big of a distraction to completing any mission.

I received Attracted to Fire by DiAnn Mills compliments of Christian Fiction Blog Alliance for my honest review and must say I really enjoyed it. The entire time was spent trying to figure out, "who did it" and kept coming up short. Glad I don't work for the secret service! My favorite character is Meghan Connor and not just for the strong women character that comes across in the book. She does have a soft side but feels the need to keep that hidden especially when Ash makes his displeasure for her being on the case known. I think that would be difficult to keep up especially when on duty full time, secluded away at the ranch.

For those of you that love criminal suspense mystery's, then this one is a must read for you. I rate this one a 4.5 out of 5 stars and look forward to more books from DiAnn in the near future.(less)

This is the first book I have read by this author, and it was an enjoyable inspirational romantic suspense. I liked the two main characters, Meghan and Ash, and there were also some very good supporting characters. The storyline was interesting and moved at a good pace. It wasn't difficult to figure out fairly soon who was behind what was happening, but it didn't deter from the story for me. I am glad that I was able to read this Netgalley ARC.

I enjoy reading DiAnn Mills books. They have a romance story but the occupations of her characters stand out more than anything. Attracted to Fire gives you an inside to the life of a Secret Agent but also how much happens with those in power in DC.

The first book I have read by DiAnn Mills. My first opinion when reading the book was that it was a very inspiration romance novel. The two main characters Meghan and Ash were developed very well, Mills has also developed some solid supporting characters within this book. I really enjoyed Attracted to Fire. I would have read it all in one sitting, except that actually had some paid work to do, so I managed to put that first – then raced home and cooked dinner so I could read more. Attracted to Fire had excellent characters, good pace, and some real suspense, particularly around the nature of Lindsay’s fear, and (once this was disclosed) how the characters were going to overcome the person who was conspiring to bring down the presidency by manipulating Lindsey. There was also the growing romantic relationship between Meghan and Ash - despite their efforts to the contrary. The story had an underlying Christian tone, but this formed a backdrop to the main plot rather than being the central theme.

I have read several previous books by Diann Mills, including Breach of Trust (my personal favourite), which won the 2010 Christy Award for Romantic Suspense. Attracted to Fire is not quite as good as Breach of Trust – but it is close, and it is probably the best romantic suspense novel I have read this year (which is a lot more of a big deal in September than it would have been in March, for example!) Although I received a free ebook version of Attracted to Fire (courtesy of Tyndale House Publishers and NetGalley), I have also ordered it in hard copy – to reread my favourite parts, and for my friends to borrow…

I have found that I enjoy a good romantic suspense now and then. Every once in a while I get an itch to read a suspense novel that has a touch of romance too and I was not disappointed when I picked up Attracted to Fire.

Attracted to Fire is about a couple of special agents that get assigned to protect the vice president’s daughter after there were some threats against her life. The daughter is also a drug and alcohol addict and is struggling with withdrawals. Ash Zinders and Meghan Connor get assigned to be the top agents in charge of her care and protection. Sparks begin to fly because Ash is not too happy about having a female agent on his team and Meghan is convinced she can prove that female agents are just as good as men.

I was able to quickly fall in love with the plot and characters in the book and it all flowed easily and quick. I also felt the reader knew what she was talking about as far as protocol and all that went with the agents, although I myself don’t have any facts to back that up because I know nothing of law enforcement. I especially enjoyed the dialogue between Ash and Meghan and the other agents.

I really enjoyed the two main characters Ash and Meghan but especially admired Meghan. She was such a strong and independent young woman yet she had a tender heart for the girl they were protecting and all the other characters mentioned. I thought the romance that bloomed between Ash and Meghan was authentic and really did not agree that it was rushed. I am a firm believer in love at first sight – although it wasn’t exactly like that in this story. The secondary characters were also a memorable and added some fun to the story.

The mystery involved was very entertaining. I found myself guessing at who I thought the killer was all throughout the story. I had my suspicions of who it was and how they were connected to the main suspect. In the end I found some of my theories were close but some were also not even near to being correct, which was great! I love it when I am surprised as to who the killer is!

Attracted to fire is thrilling romantic suspense that I am happy I decided to read. This is the first I’ve read any of DiAnn Mills books and was pleased enough to be looking in to more novels by her!

I have to say that when I began this book, I was pretty sure I wasn't going to like it. I like mysteries and spy novels to a degree, but this just didn't seem like my kind of book. I was not taken with the main agent--Ash. I guess Meghan was okay, but the story did not interest me.

I'm not much for CSI/Law & Order type suspense, unless it's written really well. I was hooked enough on the plot line of this book to see it through to the end and find out who was behind a deadly series of events surrounding the president's drug-addict daughter. This author knows how to marry action, romance and mystery. This story has all these elements and none of them suffer.

Ash and Meghan give us a window into the world of the disciplined and dedicated agents who protect our most important politicians and their families. I do believe DiAnn Mill’s voice lies in her romantic suspense and her romantic suspense that involves covert affairs with our nation’s top undercover agents. I know I’m sure to be in for a fast-paced thrill of a ride.

I completely enjoyed this book. Ash Zinders is in charge of the Secret Service protecting the Vice President's unruly daughter. The one thing he never wanted on his team was a woman and yet the thing he is having to contend with is Agent Megan Connors. Megan has proven herself as an agent and resents A2Z's distaste for women on his team. Lindsay has her demons to face and isn't sure who she can trust. Romantic suspense is my favorite type of book to read, and Attracted to Fire didn't disappoint. DiAnn Mills did a wonderful job weaving suspense with romance.
Secret service agents are sent to a ranch in Texas to protect the Vice President's daughter while she tries to overcome an addiction to drugs and alcohol. Threats are made on the daughter's life as well as the agents.
