Alfreida Cooper was depressed and living a life of secrets. But she did not care. The one thing she was scared of was losing her daughter, Zen. Zen was special. She was smart, independent, honest and free. When Zen discovers her mother's secret her life is turned upside down.

Mrs. Menchan does a wonderful job capturing the voice of Zen. The story was engaging and keep you interested until the end. I can't wait to read the next installment. I highly recommend this book for teens and adults.

She has a good friend Charlie, who unknown to her is actually her father but the mother d ...more

Menchan proves to the world once again that she is a literary genius. Zen Cooper is the 14-year old character that is an old soul with a fresh young heart. The way that she views the world is so different from everyone around her. The honesty and love in her personal interactions speak volumes about her character. The family secrets threaten to ruin her life and only time will tell if the family will overcome the lies. We all can learn from her struggle & prospective.
I’m doing a happy danc
