One Blood is every bit as relevant to racial relations in America as it was when it was published. The tragic death of Charles Drew, pioneer in blood plasma storage and dissemination during WW II, in a car accident was a great loss to the African American community. The story of the way Drew died morphed from one of simple tragedy to one of his having been denied medical treatment at a white hospital.
