The vampires in BiteMarks are human, as real as you and me. With immensely strong jaws and capable of extreme violence, they have, of course, long fangs and a desperate - and sometimes depraved - craving for blood that some can control and some cannot.

When they turn to the bad, they are indeed evil, but when they make love together, it is the most beautifully intense exper...more

I started reading BiteMarks with what I thought was the idea of what it was about, but got far more than I bargained for - it totally blew me away!

Shane Marks, a guy so complex, so troubled, and in some ways so incredibly frightening - and he's the `good' guy! I was instantly hooked by Shane and pulled in for the ride, and that is purely down to the almost poetic and descriptive talent of the author. I've never been to Nottingham in my life and now feel like I know the place really well, as if...more

This is how Bitemarks begins: ‘I am haunted by the ghosts of childhood memories, by the cruel promise of eternal sunshine and an innocence which should have endured, that died in increments and took my two friends with it.’

Now I ask you, reader, are you not immediately intrigued? I was, and delved in!

This is a crime thriller...with a twist. A cop with a vampire fetish, his partner a gay black man, his smart dog Ghost, a vampire on the loose tearing prostitutes apart...and stir into the mix a se...more

I first became aware of Drew Cross via an interaction on the site Getfanged.com *shameless plug* and, through a conversation, we agreed to "swap" books and I would read/review his book while he did the same for mine.

Drew's book, Bitemarks, is the story about police officer Shane Marks who has a lifestyle that is a little "different" from most and one that a person wouldn't normally come out and say upon introductions. I won't ruin it but through the course of the book Shane is on the trail of a...more

I found this book while going through some of the independently published books on my girlfriend's Kindle, read the description and thought I'd give it a go. I regret it, I really do, because I just couldn't finish it.

The description made it sound like a trashy, but enjoyable PI/Pulp kind of thing with a vampire main character who works with the police. What I got was a Mary Sue main character of the Twilight variety. He's pale, he's tall, he's a fantastic chef, magically charming (I use the wor...more

I had a very difficult time getting into this book. I have no idea why, I just really had a hard time caring about the characters. After I was 3/4 of the way through though, I couldn't put it down. I was let down, along with Shane with the reveal of the murderer, but I loved how Drew compounded the frustration Shane felt about his personal issues away from that.
I was hoping for a more blood related fiasco with his childhood friends. The fiasco that happened though, was disturbing in it's own rig...more

This lyrical, gritty, hypnotic crime mystery is so much more--it's really the journey of a dark knight in search of his soul in the context of solving a crime within the Goth subculture. Detective Shane Marks is tortured by his past and compelled by obsessions that dangerously intersect with a heinous killer- and in his quest he ultimately takes steps toward redemption. So much more than just a crime novel about the vampire subculture, BiteMarks is a read you won't be able to put down. Walking t...more

I found this book a little too introspective for my liking and was not sure at times who was having the flashback. I liked Shane and Marcus´ character but parts of the story line seemed illogical.

Drew has created a character, Shane Marks that I actually root for.
I am not a big vampire fan, but Drew pulled me into the story with his cleverly crafted characters.
A very good read that I highly recommend.
