"I recently read Before the Great Troubling and was totally enthralled with it from start to finish. Can understand how "Sortilege" got the Pushcart nomination, but for my money it's not even the best poem in the book, although it's certainly a lovely study in understatement and careful use of words.
Now, "God," and on the next page "Recent Developments in Home Schooling" and "Watching Things from a Distance," those are unspeakably perfect...more
