Gwene-who?

The timeless tales of King Arthur have been told throughout the ages as sterling examples of bravery, manhood, and heart-searing romance. But really, we know it’s all about the men.

Here we have a re-imagined landscape of Arthurian love stories, a place in which contests of strength become contests of foreplay, a knight’s favored squire may be his equally favored...more

This was for sure an unexpected novel; I have to admit, I opened it lured by the cover and the title, expecting to read a light tale and instead I closed it with a bittersweet taste in my soul and maybe even a tears or two wanting to fall down.

Sure, the story starts in the most “naughty” way, imagining an all male court of Camelot, where the mighty Knights of King Arthur enjoy the naked beauty of young servants; the same King Arthur has an open and joyful relationship with Sir Lancelot and so h...more

: "Lol", truthfully that encompasses all that I have to say. This collection of interlinking short stories is not the faint of heart or those who do not want lots of lewd moments, sex and innuendos. The majority of this set of stories is short and sweet. I'm not going to go into an in depth look at each of these stories. I liked the fact they tended to bleed over one into the next much in the same way a set of Arthurian stories would, it also reminded me a lot of the way collection of Robin Hood...more

The book was ok at best. Loved the concept and the book was full of potential. The writing never really grabbed me; therefore, the stories were not compelling.

And, nope, nothing to do with the ending.

This is a series of short stories or vignettes dealing with King Arthur's court and his knights. In this version they are all into boys and several knights get their romances told in each chapter, although some spill over into two and of course they are all intertwined. In this story, Arthur falls in love with Lancelot who came to deliver a message from the French king. He's oblivious to one of his knights jealousy, and while he is away warding off the Danes, Morgana helps the knight trick Lance...more

King Arthur and Sir Lancelot du Lac will never be the same again.

This collection of eight short stories paints the stories of King Arthur and his nights in a whole new light and certainly not out of the realms of possibility. Like many situations the knights had very close relationships with their squires and the squire was expected to perform a high level of personal service for to his knight.

Here we meet King Arthur in his great hall with his knights and their squires in attendance as he await...more

I started reading knowing what to expect and I got what I imagined. The book is a collection of short stories losely connected with each others. There was some sexual activities for each character but nothing special and as a gay romance reader I was disappointed by how little the love (or lust) stories were developed. There is some humour and some general angst but nothing too deepened. It is a mildly fun reading but I don' t think I will reread it.

A quick read with a series of stories that are a retelling of the Arthurian legends, imagining King Arthur as gay and everyone in Camelot as gay, too. In fact there is nary a woman in sight except for Morgana. The book started off very silly and lighthearted and then turned serious with a bloody battle and sad ending. If you are going to re-imagine something, why not go all the way with a happy and ending and lighthearted tone throughout? Oh well. The book was short and I whipped throug...more

I don't know what it is about this story that isn't drawing me in, but I was bored. I think the pacing is too slow. I think the chapters feel more like vignettes, and it isn't appealing to me. And I think I don't particularly like the narrative voice. It feels like it's "trying too hard" to get the feel of the period right. But the research is there - the vocabulary is right, the setting is right. I don't know what isn't right to me about it. I wish I could better put it into words why it's not...more

I needed some time to get used to the writing style and slow pacing of the book but then it was fine... I did expect to get a light, fluffy, funny read though and although the story had it's funny moments the ending is very, very sad!

I liked it the continuing story of Arthur and his knights. The ending was bittersweet but over all I think a three star rating is accurate.
