I loved the setting and the time travel part. I really did like how the author describes what happens around the Salem witch trials, she made it very believable. You get a couple of stories running at once, but they are easy to keep up with. I found this very book creepy and brutal with description going in to the brutally very clear, so you better be able to handle rape, killings and more. Now, about the rape the way they are written it’s not totally rape, but to me it is because the girls real...more
Let me start out by saying that I really liked this book. It was a great premise for a story and it really sucked me in from virtually the beginning. However I only gave it four stars for a couple of reasons. First and foremost (and I know some of you may think this is petty and stupid) but, all the exclamation points in the book distracted me. Maybe I'm just ADHD or something, but every other sentence there was an exclamation point and it distracted me from what I was reading, so i would go bac...more
An ARe Cafe top pick.
Gabriel Blackstone, son of Salem Village’s only veterinarian, was hunting early one morning when he experienced a totally unexpected feeling; the ability to kill using only the power of his mind. Gabriel stood, stunned, as the doe toppled over in front of him, though he hadn’t fired his gun. Knowing that to be labeled as “different” could mean death in these uncertain times, Gabriel and his father quietly buried the deer, and hoped they could put the incident behind them. Th...more

I picked up this book hoping to like it, hoping for a historically fresh take on the witch trials we all know so much about. Maybe I was looking for some romance, something wistful and whimsical in the same way that DESTINED gives a unique twist to the sinking of Titanic. What I was not looking for was a violent, disgusting portrayal of sex abuse.
The character that was so descriptively violated was a young teen, a character that was presented as nearly angelic. For her to have to go through that...more

Have you ever finished a book and really liked it, but there was just something about it that kept you from loving it? That's where I was at the end of Salem Moon.
I think Scarlet Black did an amazing job of bringing the reader back to 1692 Salem. The history of the witch trials through first hand experience was gripping and horrific. The irony of the world that Lucien transports Gabriel to made for a fantastic story. It really was a wonderful concept and parts of it flowed quite well. I didn't f...more

This is a fun, fast read I would recommend for anyone who likes more than just romance in their, well, romance. I read this book when the author was featured author in one of my Goodreads book groups. Her book sounded like a romance which isn’t normally my thing- as a genre but of course I like a little romantic storyline. Then, I started reading and saw that it was centered around the Salem witch trials of 1692. One of my favorite times in history not because it was nifty, but from a psychologi...more

The amount of information about the Salem witch trials of 1692 shows clearly that Scarlet spent a great deal of time researching for this book. Her description of events, are incredibly detailed and vivid. Some of the scenes of punishment and torture are so well written you can instantly put yourself in that time and place.
Gabriel is a likeable if rather naïve character who won my heart from the start with his ‘easy going’ and ‘kind’ personality. He makes it easy for you to both love him and...more

After reading another piece of this authors work I decided to buy another one of her books.
This one didnt get me the way the other did. (The other is call The Wisdom of Evil)
I couldn't make my mind up whether I liked the characters or not, and to be honest I still can't. Sometimes I do, sometimes they bug me a little.
However, this book is very well thought out and the amount of research that much have gone into this is unbelieveable. I will be reading the next in the series, even though I'm no...more

The characters are strong, convincing and believable, including some you love to hate. But, you'll have to find out for yourself! This author obvioulsy put alot of time and effort into researching the facts if the Witch Hunts of 1692 and present day Salem as well.
The story line flows so evenly, I found it hard to keep the book out of my hands! I can't wait for the next installment of Salem Moon. As the author Scarlet Black says in her bio at the back of the book, "Buckle your seat belt, and enjo...more

I thought this book was absolutely amazing. I won it in a contest I entered on this website. I could not put it down. the book had everything in it from suspense.. romance... magic... you name it. I didn't like the ending... not because it wasn't good.. just because I couldn't stand not knowing was was gonna happen next. I have to wait for the next book to come out... ughh. but I can't wait to read it!!! amazing job!!! thank you for the giveaway
Gabriel and Lily share a love that spans the barrier of time. Born centuries apart in Salem to families who hate one another, they meet after Gabriel's family is destroyed in the past after being accused of being witches. On his dying breath he is brought forward in time to modern day Salem by a fallen angel who is determined to use Gabriel's pure soul to gain his own earthly freedoms. The battle that ensues is deadly and leaves Lily no choice but to use the secret magickal powers she has concea...more
I stopped reading this book and am happy to put it into my did not finish shelf. I thought this was going to be a great book about time travel and witches. boy was i wrong! this is what i would consider a soft porn book. the beginning of the book has a brother and sister wrongly accused of witchcraft. then there is a very graphic rape scene of the sister. i overlooked that and kept reading. but after coming upon another very graphic sex scene between a "fallen angel/demon" and a teenager, i call...more

Gabriel and his sister are accused of witchcraft in Salem in 1692. The thing is, an entity named Lucien did use power or magic to kill the deer Gabriel was accused of killing. As he is being tortured by the crushing weight of stones, Lucien takes Gabriel away to the future Salem. Lucien is a very powerful fallen angel and the only thing to stop him is the power of Gabriel's love.
Very interesting read. Gabriel is a very likable character as is his future love, Lily. I look forward to see what hap...more

I just finished Salem Moon, and I was locked in to this book from the opening chapter. The characters are full of exitement and the story line is the history of Salem, Ma and the surrounding towns. Gabriel, Abigale, Lily, Lilac and Lucien jump right off the pages. This book kept me up until I finished it. the final chapter is exciting, I can't wait for Salem 2. I could say more but I will not be a spoiler, instead I will let you read it yourself and remember Don't Tell Anyone how the first Salem...more
I would recommend and have recommended this book to everyone!!! I knew Scarlet would make a name for herself! Those years as teenagers heading to Salem, Ma to celebrate Halloween became the back drop for her successful future! I am honored to be a long-time friend of such a talented writer. Her skills are impeccable!
My Favorite Character is ღGabriel Blackstone!ღ A young man living in Salem, Massachusetts in 1692 is sentenced to death for the crime of witchcraft, a mysterious man appears to him, just before death comes to claim him; promising to change his fate if he will only agree to take his hand and go where he leads.
