K.D. Jones (Goodreads Author)
Sometimes your greatest battles are fought from within.
Lianora has never placed much stock in the gods or in the lore of the land. She especially never believed the legends that spoke of a lost ancient magic, a magic woven from the fabric of people’s souls. So when she discovers the teardrop necklace, she thinks it to be nothing special – until the visions begin, horrific...more

Veiled Innocence is a story about a girl who has always felt out of place in a palace filled with people she has never been connected with. When her mother dies she is taken in, an illegitimate child of the King, and never really measures up to her sister (that she doesn't like anyway). It's her story and two other characters, who depend on each other to essentially stop death.

Well where do I start??
I really did enjoy this book. It took me a little while to get in to it but I loved it once it got going.
Krystle Jones has created a great world that soon draws you in to the action. Great characters that you really get to know. Lianora is a wonderful main character, a woman with heart who has been troubled in the past and never felt truly accepted.
Lianora's world collapses when a fire rips through her home and is forced...more
Being the illegitimate child of the king is a hard burden to bear and there is no love lost between father and daughter or her sister Ana for that matter. Lianora feels like she doesn't belong and her only two friends in the castle are her servant Ursa and Gabriel who is a white knight and is secretly in love with her. Gabriel is a sweetheart, a guy who you could envisage as the "knight in shining armour" literally coming to your rescue and he does just that for Lianora. A mysterious crystal nec...more
For me, the beginning of this book was really slow. Not a lot happened and it took me a while to get through. Fortunately, when I reached the second half of the book I couldn't put it down!
I thoroughly enjoyed all of the different characters. I think my favorite was Rowan who is a troubled Knight that joins Lianora (pretty name!) on her journey to save Accalia. I found myself getting excited when the book changed to his POV. In the first half Vishka was boring to read about because I didn't quit...more

Veiled Innocence has an excellent mix of just about everything: adventure, action, romance, fantasy, magic. There are a few instances of incorrect grammar and typos, and the main character, Lianora, seemed to change her personality quite a bit. She would be bold and daring one minute and shy and unsure of herself the next; however, she is a 17 year old girl, so this is to be expected, and it is realistic that she would act that way. I had trouble following the story and keeping up with who some...more
For me it’s unfortunate that I became so busy during my reading of Veiled Innocence, by Krystle Jones, because I had to stop reading the story for some time and I dislike that because then my bad memory starts taking over. Thankfully though, when I came back to it, it was easy to pick up from where I had left and by the end of it I was involved with the story.
I did have a few problems with it – the technique of characters passing out or being knocked out to awaken to new surroundings isn’t one I...more

This was an enjoyable reading, although I had mixed emotions about it. There were intriguing parts, tragic parts, and overall it was very touching.
However, there were some points in which I found myself a bit confused and lost. Like I lost track of what was happening or the conversations between the characters.
I wish something more happened between Lian and Gabriel, but I really loved the "hidden courting". :)

MY OVERVIEW: First, I would like to thank Krystle for providing a copy for me to review. Ok, now onto the review… It is actually kind-of hard for me to wrap my head around a review for this book. There was so much in it!
PROS: Ok, team Rowan! I really like his character. He has been through a lot and it has made him a better person. He doesn’t just take someone’s word, but is skeptical until he figures it out himself. All of the characters were written perfectly. The setting was also g...more

It took me a while to warm up to the characters but once I figured out their roles in the story they became less abstract. Lian wasn't the tough girl I thought she would be. She was definitely brave but suffered from bouts of denial even when she knew what the honorable course of action would be.
I was really confused in the beginning of the story and trying to tie it all together in my head without enough information. I started to understand more with the appearance of Vishka and her teaming up...more

There are some ebooks that you read and say, why didn't a publishing house pick this up? For me, 'Veiled Innocence' is one of those books.
Krystle Jones has crafted a story full of likable characters, an innovative fantasy world filled with magic, and just the right amount of action to keep everything moving.
There are many characters in this novel. I have to admit that in the beginning, I couldn't see how all of the characters lives would intertwine, but once they did, I was hooked and quite enj...more

First of all I love the cover, very pretty. The story focuses on three main characters, Lian, Rowan and Vishka. This story starts off with a teenage girl Lianora, often referred to as Lian. She is living with her father, sister and many servants and knights in a palace. She never has felt that she belongs and doesn't get along with her family. Then there is Rowan, a knight who is trying to live up to his abusive father's standards. At first I wasn't sure if I liked him but by the end I think he...more
