I enjoyed this but I somehow couldn't keep Renee and Shelley straight and kept forgetting which was the star. Maybe not being able to see them as they talked contributed to this, since everything was done via email. (Also maybe reading it at a cottage didn't help, since my attention wasn't always 100% on it.)

I also felt some threads weren't wrapped up at all at the end, and I really didn't like the "big disaster" Renee faced at the end. It didn't seem like a big deal to me at all.

I DID like the...more

It was a pleasure to review Click: An Online Love Story by Lisa Becker. Lisa kindly sent me a PDF to review and I loved it. The book is based around Renee who is approaching her 30th birthday and still hasn't found the perfect man. Encouraged by her one of her best friends Mark she joins a dating website. The book is set out in email's between friends Renee and her best friends Shelly, Ashley, Mark and Renee's many onl...more

Click: An Online Love Story, a book written entirely through a series of emails mainly between four very different best friends, follows our protagonist, Renee, as she braves the world of internet dating, plunging deep into their murky waters.

When I started reading this book I was concerned about two main things. Firstly, would the format of the emails detract from the flow of the book, and secondly would I become tired of reading the series of emails, learning about things after the event rathe...more

The main reason I agreed to review this book was beacuse over twenty years ago I met my husband through the precursor of internet dating: a lonely hearts in a newspaper and I was eager to see if Renee could find her true love on the internet. One of Renee's friends, Ashley, at the beginning of the book says that it's only desperate people who would resort to such a thing, but I don't think that's necessarily true, as evidenced by my own experience of finding my Mr. Right. I'd never have met him...more

DISCLAIMER: I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. She didn't ask, but I agreed to provide an honest review in exchange for her generosity. This is my honest review.

This hip, quirky book is a fun and easy read. It's an almost year in the life of Renee Greene, about to turn 30, and rethinking her life. Like most of us, she's at a milestone birthday and thinking about how she *thought* her life would be at this point... and how it's not. In the book...more

Meet Renee and her BFF's: Mark the anal compulsive type who over analyzes everything and anything and takes for forever to choose a profile picture. Shelley the fun and as Lisa put it the "Oversexed" type loves men. Shelley seemed to always have a different guy of the night or day or sometimes both night and day and never called them by name. She always gave then nicknames to describe their time together. Every name she gave them made me smile and usual...more

Renee is single and will soon be thirty. It's been a year since she and Derrek broke up and she's ready to find "the one". A couple days after New Years, her buddy, Mark, convinces her to join him on an online dating site. She signs up with Choose Jews. The book follows her almost yearlong adventure.

At first she is hesitant about responding to the messages she receives. After a while, she gets into it and meets the men who respond to her profile after the first or second intro message and even p...more
The Book
Renee Green is almost thirty years old and always thought she would be married with kids or at least seriously dating someone by the time she turned thirty. As her birthday approaches she finds herself still very single, and decides with the help of her guy friend Mark to try online dating.

At first glance the first few pages of this book made me cringe - I expected this book to be uninteresting and hard to follow because this style of writing was new to me. There is a first time for everything,...more

I really enjoyed Click. I don't read a huge amount of chick lit, but this is one I truly thought was a fun read. Renee is a successful woman, but she is rapidly approaching 30 and NOT where she expected to be in her romantic life. No husband, no kids, and no prospects in sight. With no small amount of reluctance and skepticism, she agrees to try online dating with one of her best friends. The story is told entirely through emails and is an often hilarious to follow Renee's dating adventures and...more

Review by Nina

This book was asked to be read and reviewed by the author. Normally, I wouldn't pick it, considering that it had to do with 30-year-old characters, but it seemed interesting and, between you and me, I can't really say no to authors or tours.

First of all, the writing style was super. We read the e-mails the characters exchange, so there are many events unknown to us, which makes it enigmatic and more interesting. It also makes it easier to read. I didn't know that people exchange so...more

To be completely honest I struggled between a 3 and 4 rating. So I guess 3.5 would work?

I have the kindle version. And it was a bit hard to read. The book is set up solely as emails. So you get the To: From: and Subject: line at the start of each new email. But there was no space between the last email and the line starting the next email. I wish spacing between emails was increased. It just makes it easier for me to read lol bad eyes and all.

I did tend to get lost among the emails some as each...more

First Thoughts
When I first read the blurb for this book, I knew I would love it, and it did not disappoint! The synopsis coupled with the amazing cover; made “click” a definite must read for me. The two clicker’s together conjoining to make the heart was just too cute, right? Plus the idea of finding love online is something that my friends and I joke about all the time. I think it’s a great idea, my friends not so much. But statistics show that one out of every relationship is made online. It s...more

Genre: Fiction, Romance

Short Synopsis: Renee Greene is fast approaching 30, and still single. She and a fellow friend named Mark, decide to try online dating as a last resort, and the two are in far more than they bargained for.

My Thoughts: Admittedly, this novel did take awhile for me to get into, but once I got into it, I was hooked.

Renee Greene is depressed that she is almost turning 30, and has no one to share her life with. She a...more

Click: An Online Love Story does exactly what it says on the tin. It tells the story of four friends in their quest for love (or in some cases lust) through a series of e-mails. We follow PR girl Renee through the ups and downs of the dating world.

Romance is not usually my thing but I found the premise of a story told solely through e-mails intriguing. Whilst I had my doubts, this format does work well once you get used to it and the characters’ voices are clear; although there were a few occasi...more

Picture this. Opening the first page on my computer what do I see ??? The book cover, the title page. All good. The table of contents tells me there are nine chapters.

Tap…kindle clicks over to the first page of the story.

Interesting. The book starts with a couple of e-mails. Including the ‘From, To and Subject’ lines of the e-mails.

Tap. Next page.

Tap.

Tap, tap.

Tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap.

OMG !!!!!!!! The whole freaking book is nothing BUT e-mails with every e-mail including the ‘from, to and sub...more

Okay, I loved this book pretty hardcore. From the moment I received it, I was excited to read it. It's kind of hard to explain why I hearted it so much without giving bits of the story away, but I'll try to be like a ninja and keep it out of this. My love for this story is mainly because of the characterization. Sure, I loved some characters more than others, but I don't think there was a character in the book that felt undeveloped to me. I felt like I knew every one of them. Actually, that's ju...more

Online dating…oh what an interesting thing you are.

Back in the “bad ol days” when I had a “day job” I had the misfortune pleasure of working with a nymphomaniac. Now, I am by no means one to judge (*cough*) but her lifestyle was…well, lets just say it left very little to the imagination. While normal (or at least “normal” by HR’s standards) office mates talk about their children or whatever new dive bomb trend diet they are currently on, Madame X (which is what we are going to call her because s...more

What's there not to like? Hardly anything if you ask me. I begun with this book last night and here I am, sitting in front of my laptop after my hours of sweet dreams writing a review that will go like this:

Renee knows that if she wants to be in a relationship she needs to be outside, looking for a guy but... all the good boys are taken, right? Or a gay, of course.
But then one of her best friends, Mark, sends her an e-mail asking her for help: he has decided that one of his New Years's resolutio...more

Romancing the Book
Review by Stacey: When I was first approached to read “Click: An Online Love Story” by Lisa Becker, the idea seemed cute. By the tenth page, however, I felt like it was anything but. This was quite possibly the most awkward book I have ever read.

The entire 284 pages are done as e-mails between several people. It was hard to keep up with who and what was going on even though each e-mail entry was titled with who the e-mails were between but because they kept jumping from one person to another; it...more

Renee is single and about to turn 30. She's looking at a future of DVD marathons and frosting binges, and she'll need a couple of cats, too. So when her friend Mark suggests they try online dating, she's just desperate enough to give it a chance. Really, how bad could it be?

This is a smart, fun read. It's written entirely in emails (the modern epistolary novel), but fear not, the characters have such clearly defined voices that you'll sort it out in no time. The perils of modern communication...more

The fun thing about this book is it is written entirely in email. Now, I was a little worried about this format the first few pages. At first it was really difficult to picture each character and keep track of who was doing the emailing. However, after a few pages I got in the swing of things and I was able to picture each character. They all had very distinct voices and Lisa managed to capture them, even in a one or two sentence email.
Renee puts herself down all the time and can’t see herself f...more

my review: oh my gosh, i'm dying laughing just thinking about this book. i loved the email style - it makes you feel as if you're directly involved in their lives. i could honestly, 100%, related to renee. i saw my friends in each of the characters and at one point in chapter 3 i was laughing so loud i was crying.

it's a light, refreshing, easy and quick read (only 9 chapters). a must read for those single folks in the middle of the online dating world themselves or those who just left the tormen...more

I absolutely adored this book! It’s unique, fresh, and funny, and had me up until the wee hours of the morning. I would have finished it in one sitting if my eyes weren’t screaming and begging for sleep. This was a light and quick read and I couldn’t put it down.

The book is written as a series of emails between friends and dating prospects. It chronicles the life of Renee Greene as she embarks on various online dating adventures, and shares all of her dating mishaps, failures, and successes with...more

The entire novel is a series of emails between friends (and eventually lovers). When I began reading, I wasn't sure if it was going to sit well with me. Fast forward a few hours to 'The End' and I'd say we have ourselves a winner!
Humor is rampant throughout (the dating website Renee works with is 'Choose Jews'? Totally inappropriate and TOTALLY hilarious. Probably exists...)
Renee is only thirty. Hardly a life crisis....I know more unmarried women over thirty than housefrau's. I know some women f...more

I never win anything. It's like a curse. So I was thrilled to win my copy of Click from a giveaway! It made me like the book instantly but make no mistake, there will be no bias here!

The book is written as one long email conversation between friends and strangers. Reading Click is somehow voyeuristic as it feels like you are eavesdropping on someone's personal emails. Lisa Becker does a great job with making this element of the text believable.

I liked the premise of the book; it sounded like a...more
