Living in Fossil Glen, nothing exciting ever happens. Allie Nicols is a seventh grader who has always used her imagination to make life more interesting. She loves to invent stories about her lunch lady and her teachers.

When she is rock climbing in Fossil Glen, Allie has climbed up too far, in order to retrieve a fossil. Not knowing what to do or

I love reading a book and then discovering it has sequels. This is one of those books and unfortunately, the sequels were not on my list so I have to wait until the next library trip to get them.
The Ghost of Fossil Glen follows the story of Allie, an 11 year old girl with a very active imagination. However, what happens to her is not a figment of her imagination but a very real and very frightening experience. While playing in Fossil Glen, Allie starts hearing a voice - not voices just one. Then
Allie is an 11 year old girl who has seen some strange things going on at her school, house, and at Fossil Glen. She thinks she is being visited by an 11 year old ghost named Lucy. One day a mysterious package came in the mail it was a red velvet journal. While Allie was searching her desk she found a latch that opened and she found a identical journal to the one she got in the mail and it was Lucy's diary. She read it and found out a lot about Lucy's life and figured out lots of stuff like Lucy ...more

Lucy gives signs and clues to what Allie must do, so Lucy can rest in peace. Allie also finds Lucy's diary and it tells how, when, and who murdered her.

I loved this book and it had a great mystery. It had lots of parts that made you gasp or made you surprised.

I would definitely recommend this book

This book about a 7th grader who has a openminded imanginary mind and shares her storys to her friends even though they figure shes a lil weird . Amazing, amazing book no matter how old you are. Granted, I read this book when I was in 5th grade, but that does not take away that this book is purely magnificent and truly is for all ages. At some point while I was reading the book, I thought "what in the hell is this book doing in our school library". It really is fantastic, and if you don't give it a go - you're missing out big time.

I really liked this book. This book is a combination of horror, suspension, and lots more. Once you get on reading it you don't want to put the book down. Cynthia C. DeFelice did a great job writing this book and I hope there is a second book. I really liked the ending it was full of suspension. I think that Allie was a brave character in the story. She had to stand up for herself when no one believed her and most importantly had to fight for Lucy's sake. Overall this book was fascinating and ve ...more
Braeden's latest read, and she said it was "awesome!" This girl usually takes months to finish a book, if she finishes at all, and she couldn't pull her nose out of this one... read it in less than two weeks. That's my girl!! She likes mysteries, apparently, and this one definitely captivated her. :)
I <3 this book!!!!
SUCH a weird title, SUCH a good book! I wonder if it will become a movie, but if it does it has to be rated at LEAST PG13, just b/c of the ending.
This book is a little weird though.
I'm not usually much for ghost stories but this one was VERY good, about a young girl whose ghost leads another young girl to discover how she died and do something about it.

The book The Ghost of Fossil Glen is a good book for a young person. It is easy to read and keeps you intrigued. The plot grabs you right away and makes you want to read more.
Better than the Goosebumps books I've read in the distant past. The book opens with Allie caught on a shale cliff in the Glen after having climbed too high and gotten knocked off balance as she pocketed a fossil. A voice encourages her to let go a bit, and eventually she makes it safely down though plenty scratched up. The voice seems to belong to a ghost who later is revealed to be a girl named Lucy who died 4 years earlier but whose body was never recovered after a nasty fall into the same riv ...more

All her friends dont believe her except for dub and dub and Allie looked in the newspaper from a long time ago and it said that there was a missing girl and that from where her clothes landed it looks like she was pushed or fell off the glen but they think she fell. . The Ghost of Fossil Glen is a good book. A girl named Allie is being pursued by a ghost named Lucy who is trying to tell Allie what happened to her. She gives Allie access to her diary, and tells about how a mean man, was trying to steal fossil Glen from Lucy. This man is trying to put apartment complex in the Fossil Glen. The ghost of fossil glen is a very good book. It is a Mystery book. When I put the book down I really wanted to pick it up again and read but I could not because I had to go. One day I was in the library and someone said I had to go but I did not hear them because I was in a really good part so when I finished they where gone already thats how much I liked the book. This book is about a girl that is a normal person that goes to school but one day she has a dream and in the dream she was falling ...more
I reread this out loud with the boy, and if he says it's a "five star"...that's quite an accomplishment. It is a great upper elementary mystery, because it's suspenseful and ghosty, but not too scary for the elementary group.
I loved the style that Cynthia DeFelice used to write The Ghost of Fossil Glen. Allie and Dub have such real personalities, and I could relate to both of them in different ways. I enjoyed the way the two friends worked on the mystery, and I was on the edge of my seat as the story developed. This book starts with excitement, and the pace doesn’t slow throughout the book. I recommend this book to anyone from third grade through eighth grade. I also think adults and older kids will be captivated by ...more

I probably read this book like in 5th grade (I'm currently in college) and I loved it! It's one of the many books I've read who's title has always been stuck in my head.
One day while Allie is fossil hunting she nearly falls to her death off a cliff. But she hears a mysterious voice in her head that tells her exactly what to do. She later finds a journal in her mailbox minutea after she said she deperately needed one. She discovers the diary of the "ghost" she thinks is haunting her which tells everything.

This book was very good and fun to read because you never knew what was going to happen next. It did a good job on not giving it away until the end like some m

I loved this young adult book!
The 5th star here is earned for the interesting location the story takes place in: Watkins Glen, in the finger lakes region (near Seneca Lake) of upstate NY. (This gorge in real life is one of the most beautiful places on earth. I first went hiking up the canyon past waterfalls as a child, and later many times with my fiancee, and camping with my husband and children in the state park. I recommend it as an excellent first hike for children as there is the reward of
It is scary and one that you could read ing one day and you stay up all night reading

The fact that I remember so much about this book is a testament to how well the charachters were written, to the interesting plot, and to what was a unique mystery for me.

I read this book with my daughter a number of years ago and we both enjoyed it. SHe was a really well read elementary student and I just happen to still enjoy reading as if I was one, sometimes, lol.

I would highly recommend this book to a fourth or fifth grade student or as a book to be read with a younger student. Cynthia DeFe
Great book couldn't put it down. Mysterious and good
A great mystery, suspense book that will keep the reader turning pages. The main character Allie, is given a desk by her mother who is an antique dealer. She hears a voice that tells her to find a diary. She discovers the voice is that of a girl who was killed and the ghost wants her to reveal her killer. There are side stories of broken friendships, and a land development that threatens to destroy a beautiful glen. The book starts out a little slow but from the half way point to the end is so s ...more
